So glad to hear that Days was renewed. The show is the best it has been in years. I am actually finding Days a lot better than GH now. Hope they do a great 50th anniversary episode. They should more of a week long celebration.

Yeah. I've seen this coming (including the two-year renewal) since the moment that Days won that Emmy last year. There was no way that NBC was going to cancel the show after the year that it had in 2013, and I was kind of shocked to see how many people truly believed otherwise in the Alison Sweeney thread.

Pessimists! :tounge:

Congrats days. I'm beyond excited. I love this show and it's the best soap opera ever. Thanks to nbcdays, days of our lives cast and crew and us as their fans to make it happened and I'll continue to support days always. : :D

This week just keeps getting better. Now lets fire Tomlin and Whitesell as headwriters and I may actually start liking the show again.

Awesome news! The CBS soaps only got one year renewals, so two for DAYS is quite the surprise. I felt like Corday was going to everything he could to get this show renewed to celebrate the 50th anniversary. I really hope DAYS celebrates 50 in a big way, ala General Hospital. With Lorraine Broderick part of the writing team, I have faith though. She did great with AMC's 40th anniversary.

Actually, Y&R was renewed through 2017. However, since all of the other CBS daytime shows, including B&B, only received one-year renewals, many headlines were misleading and forced people to dig a bit deeper in order to find out that Y&R had received a multi-year renewal (if those articles even mentioned that fact at all).

Oh! I had no idea. I thought the entire CBS Daytime line up received only one year renwals. Good to know.

:yahoo: So happy to hear the comfirmation of Days Renewal. I was confident it would be. I think all the announcements this week have been stage managed beautifully, mainly because there has been so much buzz about it all.

:cheer: Happy viewer here.

Not surprised in the least by this. Now my only wish is that Days gets a fitting 50th Anniversary tribute.

Me too. I have no emotional attachment to GH (my mother apparently watched when I was breastfeeding...clearly I don't remember those days) but I watched and enjoyed their 50th...and have followed spottily since then. So, in spite of myself, I already have expectations building for what Days can do for me as a viewer on the road to and through that milestone anniversary.

So I guess it's...good job, Days. That's a ton of pressure for TPTB, though.

GH turned their anniversary into MONTHS of celebration. I hope Days does the same thing. Have some other legendary characters come in for stories in the months leading up to the actual anniversary week so you can get their visits and stories in and then have a big chunk of legends and the current cast around for some type of event/celebration that week. It just works so much better that way so no one is making a "cameo" where they are just filling in the background.

I'm so happy that it got renewed! There are times when I can't even finish an episode or when I don't like a single character on my screen, but this show is a part of me. I've been watching my entire life, I'm not ready to give it up yet. :cheer:

Ditto!

For me, this show is the only show I can vividly remember watching with my mom (who passed away when I was 5). I don't know who her favorite characters were or what she thought of the storylines (all she ever told me was "You wouldn't understand any of this...") but I don't care. I've got my dad as the next best thing and he loves all the vets. Well, pretty much the people who were front and center in the 80s...Bo, Hope, Patch, Kayla, Marlena, Roman and John...he likes Kate too...he loves to hate Sami...he liked Jack and Jennifer too...I doubt he would like Jennifer much now though...ugh...

But he stopped watching not too long after Zack was killed off...I think he just simply got too busy to keep up...but I kept watching! Haha...

I love long car rides with him to and from my college town b/c I literally give him the lowdown of EVERYTHING happening in Salem...I told him about Bo leaving and Hope and Ciara...I told him about Jennifer and ugh, Daniel. How Sami is still, well, Sami...

And I keep telling him, overall, I think if he tuned back in, it would take him awhile but he would get hooked in no time! After all, he took a nearly 14 year hiatus from watching the show from about 1990-2004...

I'm so glad "my soap" will be on for at least another couple of years! I can't shake this show yet...I don't think I will ever be ready for this show to leave.

I KNEW this would happen but it was more a matter of when so thank God I woke up to this great news. Also, how cool it's not just a year renewal...we get two!! I pray the show can continue the hot streak it's on and not get lazy due to the renewal. But with the crazy stories all heating up at the moment, it looks like those of us who are enjoying it are gonna be just fine. It's going to be awhile but I'm sooooooo curious to see Days Of Our NonSami Lives. While I appreciate AS's run, I'm just curious as to what the show will be like since she was front burner for 21 years. Lol. This is great news. I'm proud for my show. ;)

One of the best parts of GH's 50th Anniversary was that the vets that came back briefly weren't just window dressing. A lot of them were right in the middle of all the action, with Frisco and "Rick Springfield" singing at the Nurse's Ball, Brenda up to her usual bitchiness with Carly, Laura helping Luke and Dante rescue Lulu. AND you had the epic Stavros/RKK reveal (god that was a marvelous surprise). That was all around the actual April anniversary, then later in the year you had Faison back along with Duke and Robert in the Robin return/rescue story.

While the above names aren't going to mean much to non-GH viewers, it is possible to have old favorites return and be a vital part of the canvas, if only for a little while. Needless to say my expectations are high now for Days and their 50th celebration. I want that Holy-Fucking-Shit moment I had when they revealed Stavros as Lulu's kidnapper.
