Y'all are so cute trying to predict Will's response to the Ejabby affair based on what would be the logical reaction for his character to have. You know TomSell is going to have him react in whatever way is necessary to drive their next plot point. I like TomSell's writing because it's entertaining, but it's definitely about plots, not characters.
With how many times during the event that Abby being a wonderful role model was mentioned....I predict this will be a plot point. At least the audience got a clear message that they all feel she is a wonderful role model as Ari's godmother. The bigger they are, the harder they fall. Of course!! That was THE only reason I saw in Sami praising Abby for her good-role-modelness.

Which would all be fine except that the Catholic Church views homosexuality as a sin, just as bad or so worse than adultery or fornication between unmarried people (since EJ and Sami aren't married yet). So, in the eyes of the Church, Sonny is just as unfit as Abby. And, under your reasoning that the GP is vowing to care for the child's soul, can no more take that vow than Abby. And,for the record, I wholeheartedly disagree with the Church's stand at that issue, but I don't see how somebody can say Abby is unfit to care for Ari's soul (under Curch doctrine) but Sonny is. Mostly, I really don't care how Will feels about Gabi. But painting Abby as somehow more immoral than anyone else in town is kind of laughable to me.
What is laughable to me is Abby's hypocrisy standing there taking all the praise of a good role model. Even thanked by the women whose granddaughter was being christened. If Abby's so proud of herself, why not own it and not hide her affections for EJ. See she can't do that, it will damage her reputation.
Who said Abby was proud of herself? Or should be? I may fail to see how her WTFery with EJ renders her unfit to be a godparent (in the abstract), but I've never said she should be proud of it. Frankly, I think she's insane, but no more so than the rest of that family. She's not changing her behavior, either proud or insane.

It's my understanding some Catholics take the godparent role pretty seriously. I used to think it was just so that the child would have someone lined up to take care of them should the parents die but from what I've been told it goes a lot deeper. The GP is promising to take care of the child's soul/spirituality. (I don't know jack about Catholicism, btw.)
My post was in reference to what vow/promise was being made. FWIW I never said that Abby could not take that vow, that's a decision Will would have to make. I was never painting Abby to be more immoral than anyone else. Will might not care that Abby slept w/ EJ but he if he did he would have every right to because other people's immorality is irrelevant, they are not who he chose as GP. Fair enough. I just find it hard to believe that Will's reaction is going to be different because Abby is Ari's godmother. If he's upset it's because of what she did, not because she took her vow as Ari's godmother while she was "impure" (particularly when, as she was taking that vow, they were all conspiring to hide the fact that the mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother of her goddaughter killed her cousin).

I'm mostly looking for forward to Sami's reaction to the whole thing. She's a nutter and likes to shoot people so it could be all sorts of fun.

ETA: I suddenly felt compelled to clarify I don't put cross-dressing and attempted murder on the same level - hope that's evident! Just that Sami has many entertaining options in her arsenal when she is acting on emotion and a thirst for payback.

Let me get this straight. When THE AFFAIR is eventually revealed (which may very well happen months from now) we are worried that Will's first reaction is going to be the sanctity of Ari's godparent? And apparently it was Abby's "duty" to turn down the role of Godmother after she was probed by EJ's Dipenis? WTF?
What Abigail did was wrong, and the show is making it clear it's wrong (at least from her perspective, it's EJ who is trying to make it seem like they just went the speed limit). But in a church service where you have the Mom (kidnapper Melanie, Nick's murder conspiracy), the Father (Attempted murderer (EJ), blackmail (EJ), Grandma Sami (Nick's Murder conspiracy, baby kidnapper, adulteress, many more crimes), Great grandmother Kate (Manslaughter conspiracy, adulteress, blackmailer, many more crimes), I think it's ridiculous to point to the godmother (adulteress) and insist she should be ashamed, especially since that adultery was indirectly a result from trying to cover up a murder that at least six people (also part of that service) have conspired over.

I wonder if she'll be packing when she finds out. It'll probably be a misunderstanding and Sami living by 'shoot first ask questions never' will think its' Gabby. "Gabby" and "Abby" sound so similar, it could happen. B-)

Oh, I really hope she gets to shoot a few more people before she leaves. I'm pretty sure she has the current record, but she'd might as well make sure no one can come close to taking her crown. I'm picturing Jen diving in front of the bullet to save Abby. Jen dies but Abby needs a heart transplant. Dan transplants Jen's heart into Abby. Out of the mayhem Dabby is born.

I'm just hoping someone (okay, everyone) reminds Sami repeatedly how EJ cheated with her when she cheated on Rafe. And how that supposedly didn't mean anything and geez, why should she be upset as long as he says he's sorry.
Don't get me wrong, I don't expect her to do anything but go ridiculously OTT in her outrage, but I'd love it if everybody else was just kind of "meh" about it, basically because it's EJ and why would she expect something different.

This is why I really don't think Will is going to care too much about Sami's feelings. He'll probably think she brought it on to herself either by karma or from neglecting EJ's needs, not being appreciative enough of EJ's sacrifices.
