I hate to use the ole go to "Bring Jack back" stuff, but Kassie and Matthew Ashford would be FIRE. And if the Eve recast is a little hard to take I think that could really help things out. I don't think TPTB plan on ever bringing Jack again this time, although he did get his bullshit death that left room for an opening. That cyborg Roman seeing the body doesn't mean anything.

But really Jack is a better version of Todd so I could really just see those two working out well if they wrote Jack as Jack instead of the comedy sideshow he became at times under certain writers. Now I can't help but hope for it. I'm not sure if this recast will work out, but I gotta give it a chance. I know if it doesn't work, it will not be Kassie's fault.
Cyborg Roman didn't see the body. He just reported what the paramedics said. As far as I can tell, no one who knew Jack actually viewed the remains. Which were cremated right away, so there was no DNA test to confirm identity. So there's wiggle room for Jack to be alive. I'm not holding my breath for Jack's return under this inFetchuated regime, which seems obsessed with trying to make a dud couple work long past the point of reason (I still can't believe TIIC don't have a Plan B for these two characters--Fetch can't be the only couple who have failed to catch on in a big way, but they seem to have the dubious distinction of being the pair TIIC are clinging on to like grim death.) But there's a ton of story potential in place if Jack ever does return (JJ! EJ/Abigail! (Nu)Eve!), and if there's a regime change, anything can happen.
I totally agree. There's definitely a lot of potential for a "Jack's not really dead" storyline, especially now that Eve's returning to DAYS.

For example, maybe Eve arrived in Salem on the evening of the DAYSaster because she wanted Jack to help her with a business deal. Eve learned that Jack had been in a horrific elevator crash, so Eve rushed to the elevator wreckage and saw that Jack was still alive. The paramedics arrived, and Eve bribed them to say that Jack was dead. Then Eve whisked Jack out of Salem and took him to a medical clinic in Europe.

Meanwhile, a random homeless guy (a Jack lookalike) died in the DAYSaster, so Eve arranged for the homeless guy to be cremated, and fake Jack's ashes were given to Jennifer. And all this time, the real Jack has been living in Europe and suffering from amnesia. And when Jack gets his memory back, he can return to Salem and tell Jennifer to go to hell. Then Jack and Eve can buy the Spectator and be colleagues and best pals! :cheer:

Here's Eve's debut from July 16, 1987...start the video at the 2:38 mark:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ELicnPgMcIk&feature=player_detailpage#t=158

Eve debuted 8 days before I was born. That's probably why I have absolutely no recollection of her! I say bring on Kassie, ha. Most people watching now probably have no idea that CR was in the role or won't even notice the difference. My mom thought that the new Will was Jacob Young.

It's not new but I found it kinda interesting because it's Logan saying this:

ALL ABOUT EVE! Did Charlotte Ross screw herself out of a gig by Tweeting that @nbcdays was having Eve meetings? Gotta wonder @DaysofourLives

I don't know KDP or how much younger than her actual age she can play, but it just seems like a strange decision. When you add in the fact that Mary Beth Evans is the same age as KDP and Judi Evans is younger, and the show has shown no interest in writing for their veteran women in that age group, I don't understand why the show didn't recast Eve with an actress in her mid- to late-30s.
I think that their problem is not that they have no interest in using their actresses in that age group, maybe they would if they knew how. Seeing how the stories are told nowadays it looks like the problem is that they can't do with those legacy characters what they want to. They can't write Kayla as a priest rapist or Adrienne as EJ's mistress. And that's what they want to do because of ratings. If they wanted to write for Kristen (and they clearly did) maybe they can do this for Eve too, no matter if she is in her 30s or 50s. (And it's not only "Days" tendency, it's like GH can't write a decent s/l for Laura, but can write one for Heather or Dr.Obrecht)
The did not want another actress in that age range. They wanted the character of Eve, who just happens to be in that age range. Kayla wouldn't do what Eve will do. Eve will fill the void left by Kristen and Sami.

Charlotte Ross was unavailable, so they picked an actress who they think can bring it. She also has a huge fan base too. It's a win win for Days.
The characters they aren't writing for are capable of a lot, though... lying about other people's babies, having affairs, shooting people are all things Salem's "good girls" have in their pasts. I don't think it means they shouldn't have done this particular hire, etc., but a show where only psychos and "bad girls" are capable of doing interesting things is never going to be my favorite.
THIS! THIS! THIS! "Good" characters can very believably do "bad" things and that's what helps to make them more interesting, complex and relatable characters. They used to do stuff like that all this time with their "good" characters, but you just don't see it much anymore and I think the plot over character writing is why. That is, because they focus on plots rather than characters, they don't like to take the necessary time to invest in creating real motivations for actions. So rather than building up to why a "good" character would do something "bad," they just have to take the easy way of giving the interesting actions/plots to their "gray/bad" characters so the audience will find the action to be believable without any of that pesky build-up or creation of motivation.

Not related, but I would love if they made Jordan turn out to be Eve's daughter anyway.

Though I wanted Ross, surely TPTB wouldn't cast someone they felt wouldn't be right for the role.
Charity Rahmer as Belle says hi

Kyle Brandt as Phillip says hi

Krista Allen as Billie says hi

Steve Wilder as Jack says hi

Tamara Braun as Taylor says hi

I think TB is an extremely good comparison. GREAT actress who was horribly mis-cast. Having a role to fill and finding out that a great actress is available should not equal automatic green light to put THAT actress in THAT role. To me, that's the biggest concern here. KDP is just not an Eve-type of actress.

With the exception of TB (she played Taylor? Really? I thought she played that crazy chick who was after Steve) all of those recasts came along with recent departures from the former actor and IMO, the new recasts were not good actors anyway.

KDP is a good actress. She can adapt. But what I find more important, most of the audience's relationship to Eve is gone. I'm not going to hold the show accountable for trying to keep the integrity of a character that was last seen over 20 years ago. In RL, people change thus Eve Donovan could very well be a completely different kind of person than she was back in 1992.

KDP is a GREAT actress and I will certainly give her a chance in the role....but this reeks of bad miscast...which seriously sucks because KDP is so good and I would HATE to see what happened to TB and Taylor happen to KDP in this role.

Just gonna have to wait and see with this one.

I do hope CR returns one day, because Eve is her role and I don't give a fuck HOW long she has been away from DAYS.

I think that may be true, but there are a number of roles that I would have been upset to see recast even after that length of time. Some roles are more actor-dependent than others and I would have thought Eve was one of the ones that fell more to that side, but we'll see how it goes.

And yeah, TB was recast as Taylor when they let Natalia Livingston go, but it didn't take. Did they each do thirteen weeks?

On-Air On-Soaps spoke with DePaiva to offer our congratulations where Kassie made this very heartfelt statement on landing her new gig in Salem: “I’m so thrilled to be back to the dance. I love daytime and I want to make a contribution to it, to keep it alive and thriving. It’s been 27 years since Eve Donovan has been there in Salem. To me, that is what is so exciting … that there is 27 years to fill-in and I can create. I can’t wait to find out how damaged is she … or how strong is she … and I can’t wait to find out all of that out along with the fans! Is she dangerous? Feisty? Sad? Is she happy? I hope Eve will excite the audience.”

I'm glad she's excited, but she has the time wrong...unless she won't be airing until 2018 (which with Days tape schedule is entirely possible).

I agree but Eve is more of an adult now and that may be why TPTB think KDP could play an older version of Eve. I do hope if this turns out to be a miscast that they will fix it and bring on Ross to at least when she is available. I still think they wouldn't agree to her terms or she wasnt happy with the pay and therefore she used twitter to try to get support and therefore went with the primetime gigs.

This is really puzzling. She has made similar comments on her twitter. Does she know nothing about the character she is getting paid to play or an initial idea of current storyline that brings Eve to Salem. I hope KDP does some freakin research. Wish TPTB would have waited for Ross to return. It would have been great buzz.

I'm guessing she's confusing Eve's first year onscreen with the year she left. Eve first appeared in 1987 which would be 27 years. Just a mistake, no big deal.

Charlotte also congratulates Kassie in another tweet, for those so eager to call her a jealous bitch. Maybe Kassie will be just holding the role until Charlotte becomes available. That is the ONLY way that I will accept Eve as some country bumpkin with a hillbilly twang.
And, pray tell, what is wrong with country bumpkins? Damnation.
I have no problem with country bumpkins, love them in fact. I just don't want one of them playing Eve Donovan. I haven't watched the show regularly in awhile & I definitely won't be tuning in to see a 3rd rate interpretation of one of my favorite characters.
