The better show won the award. That episode was epic. I hope Eileen not only submitted for the emmys, but used those scenes for her reel. The show should use that episode for writing/best drama. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2qmNO0JltZQ Edited by ShaneDOOLFan, Feb 2 2014, 04:23 PM.

DAYS will be a serious threat to win in Drama Series and Writing if they submit that episode for contention. This was Eileen Davidson best tape (the church scenes and afterwards were a close second and the scene with John in the hotel room), I hope she submitted this one for lead actress. |

Agreed. Eileen and Deidre knocked those scenes way out of the park. Does Deidre usually submit Emmy material? I'd LOVE for her and Eileen to be nominated together. |

I think Carlivati is aware that Gary Tomlin was not on the receiving end of this award, but nonetheless felt a show with a fi-core headwriter on its writing staff should not win a WGA award. Which is equally ridiculous and problematic since B&B and Y&R also have fi-core writers on their staffs - so apparently in his world his show is the only one that should be allowed to win. What an award that would be, GH winning by default and not by merit. :eyeroll: He needs to have a seat. The only hypocrisy I'm seeing is his own - sending out his congrats to DAYS following its renewal and saying it was important to support the other on-air soaps, yet turning around and tweeting a diss to the same show show when they beat his at the WGA. Idiot. |

Oh, and apparently tweeting your disagreement with his tweets (politely or impolitely) will get you blocked. Must be a nice fantasy world Carlivati lives in. :drunk: |

I had forgotten just how great DH and ED were in those scenes. They really are emmy worthy in every way. They have to be two of the greatest actresses in the genre. The writing was fantastic.I can see how anyone involved in these scenes in anyway would win.Okay I officially welcome ED back with or without a child.Cannot wait for her return to Salem and more scenes with DH. |

I know I should probably know this by now.... But what is the definition between lead actress and supporting actress? |

I don't think there is one. Lots of people will give you lots of answers but it doesn't seem like a very rigid thing at all. |

He apparently does not have a problem working for people who hire "scabs" as headwriters or work with those headwriters himself. This was his comment when he first went to work at GH: "I remain fully committed to Frank Valentini and 'One Life to Live' as the show's Headwriter until the series concludes in January of 2012. It has been my distinct honor to write for Agnes Nixon's groundbreaking soap opera for the past fifteen years, and it will be with a heavy heart that I, along with my incredibly talented team, pen its finale. At that time, I am happy to announce that I will then be joining the writing team of 'General Hospital', and am thrilled to be working once again with Executive Producer Jill Phelps as well as new Headwriter Garin Wolf." Garin Wolf also went fi-core during the writer's strike. #hypocrisy |

I think it's easier to define in movies where there is a hard lined protagonist. In soaps it's harder because it's sometimes hard to differentiate the leading stories. But rule of thumb is the lead is the protagonist of the story. The supporting role is a part that is not the protagonist which could mean it could be just a bit part. Sometimes supporting could be so big, it's said to be a secondary lead. It gets more confusing because you can mix in "guest lead", "day player", "Cameo" and "Principal." (The last being more for movies). |

@DashingDeveraux @carlivatiron So you don't think any soap with a fi-core writer on its staff should be recognized at the WGAs? https://twitter.com/DashingDeveraux/status/430106890006458368 @carlivatiron @DashingDeveraux No. https://twitter.com/carlivatiron/status/430121994299146241 He didn't really elaborate. No, as in no soap with a fi-core writer should be recognized at the WGAs? Or no he doesn't think that? Anyway, he's a tool. |

Nope. She did once recently (2012 Emmys) when she was told by the higher ups that everyone was to submit. Last time she submitted before that was 2004, I believe, and last time before that was 1995 and then not since 1985 or 86. She's said she doesn't feel the Emmys are being done correctly, that the system needs to be revamped (interview with... Nelson I think, from 2009ish or 2010), and so she hasn't submitted. And I actually agree with her, as much as I think she's long overdue her well-deserved-for-so-many-overlooked-years (yeah, yeah, you win for the year not the effort, whatever :P) win. She's barely had screen time though, and honestly, Geary only shows up to do his two required shows, but at least he actually gets those. DH gets nada. After all, Marlena is just Eric and Sami Brady's mother. #dontevengetmestarted |

Are you talking about the scene where John is trying to seduce her and Kristen puts a stop to it? Because that was some of Eileen's best work of the whole year. |

Saw this on the SS board. Carlivati called a fan calling out his hypocrisy "mentally disturbed". You know someone's struggling when they have to rely on insults to make their point. Also, an interesting screenshot that was posted on that board: Posted Image So he's questioning whether shows with fi-core staffers should be nominated at all now that he lost as opposed to when the nominations were announced in the first place. How convenient. |

Oh and apparently he would not answer when this fan asked him if he would've protested a WGA win when he was working with Garin Wolf. He also whined that this wasn't anyone's business, after he chose to tweet his complaints to his 30,000 followers. Okay. :drunk: Edited by NocturnalBlondie, Feb 3 2014, 12:13 AM.
