I bet they'll just take the Ali schedule adjustments and apply them for Eileen.
Either way, if it means more Kristen/Marlena, good! I'm sick of Marlena being relegated to just listening to Sami and Eric vent.
There was barely any Marlena the first time round. There wasn't as much as I would have liked, but I wouldn't say "barely any". There were some very good snarky scenes between the two of them, and Marlena's character was integral to the story.

Could DAYS somehow win best soap 3 years in a row. I am obviously way ahead of myself but DAYS seems to be on a huge upswing and with Ali leaving and ED returning 2014 seems like DAYS year. Kristen's return and AS exit has so much potential to end 2014 on a very high note.
I am so excited for this news welcome back Eileen!
I think they have a legit chance at winning again this year...they seem to have some voter support out there now. I think the CBS soaps and GH strategically throw votes DAYS way. I really don't care about the Emmys. You can't even find the award show on the Telly. :blulaugh:

If it's just going to be another round of Brady/Kristen, they can count me out. If, on the other hand, it's a short stint wherein Kristen can come in, really do some damage and then blow back off the canvas taking as many people down with her as possible, that would be another (much better) scenario that would bring me back.

Quoting limited to 4 levels deep
Their characters can still be further destroyed. I still care about that.
I really believe DAYS got the message loud and clear on how Jarlena was destroyed...it is why DH was let go. I think they will get this next stint right.
Huh? How is sending DDH away realizing they destroyed J&M and that was somehow a good thing? To clearly give the character a long rest which honestly was needed.
I am a huge Jarlena fan...but John was written so horribly out of character, that a LONG rest off screen was what I wanted to see.
Now he has been away and it puts more distance between SHITTY John and whatever he is coming back as.
Their certainly needs to be redemption and IMO the best way for the show to do that was to rest the character for a bit and then bring him back.

WHAT!
Days is over-flowing with awesome news lately! A break from Sami, a return from Eve Donovan, a return from Kristen...
I could jump up and down right now! Who's next? Matt Ashford? Martha Madison? Keep 'em coming, Days!

On the fringes maybe, and I didn't care for the lack of telling the Marlena side of things. All I pretty much heard was Kristen's POV (ad nauseum).

Agreed. My fear is that she'll come back with a baby she's claiming to be Brady's to win him back, but really it's Eric's. I don't mind the Ericole obstacle, but I'm so over Kristen chasing Brady.

In the course of a week, we have learned Days will be around for two more years, AS is leaving, KDP is arriving soon and ED is returning. Short of an editing room snafu that forces the show to perform a live episode a la "Tootsie," I am not sure how much more good news I can handle from this show. Search for Tomorrow already tried the Tootsie stunt. lol

I completely agree with the person who said they should overhaul Kristen and EJ's relationship. If they could sell PM-Austin as LK-Kate's child, I'll go along with Kristen as EJ's substitute mom.
I would love that but the problem is with Kristen being on some harem island for a long period of time before stefano saved her and shipped her off to Paris. So it'll be pretty weird if she suddenly had obsessive maternal feelings for him since she's been gone for a large chunk of his life. But this is days anything (and pretty everything) could happen. I think they could just say she tried to push her feelings for EJ aside, the way she ignored her need for revenge, but then when she saw him, they all came flooding back. IMO, the time she spent in the harem would only heighten her obsession. I mean, her son was kidnapped* and she was kept prisoner and forcibly separated from him, but now she has the chance to make up for all that lost time.
*I know the real story, but I'm talking about the way I think Kristen would see it.

Plus if she does have an Eric or Brady kid it could cause all of those feelings for EJ to come flooding back. She could have flashbacks and memories of how things were/should have been.

It's funny just the other day Stefano told EJ that it wouldn't be a good idea to go against Kristen.

Sorry, but that doesn't wash. I don't necessarily disagree that distance and "resting" the character of John could have been a good idea, but that's not why DDH got shown the door. If it was, if the show really gave a damn about the redemption of John and J&M they would't have written him off the way that they did. He would have had a valid reason for leaving, and while there would have still been obvious tension and hurt between J&M Marlena would have understood his reason for leaving and even begrudgingly supported it. As it was written, John's exodus just further destroyed his his character.

Yes sir. This is 100% true. GH vs. Y&R has been the big battle for years and without the other soaps like ATWT, GL, AMC getting in the way Days is taking advantage. Plus they're also putting out good material so that helps A LOT. It would mean something if they had won back when those soaps were still around, IMO..

Why is Days continuing to plump up the one age group that doesn't need more females in it? Nothing against Eileen/Kristen, but the show needs more 45-60 males and a hell of a lot more 20-somethings, NOT more 45-60 females! We've already got Jen, Hope, Marlena, & now we've just added Eve & Kristen. Who wants to bet that TPTB completely fuck up Kristen's return a second time? Who cares about the age? Kristen is a villain. Jen, Hope and Marlena aren't.

I would be ALL for Susan returning to comfort EJ after his explosive break-up with Sami when the EJabby affair is revealed. Except Susan is actually Kristen in disguise trying to weaver her way back into Salem...

Sorry, but all these comments about how "Wtf?" it is for someone Kristen's age to get pregnant are just really bizarre to me. It's not like women who are 35+ just have their eggs turn to dust - it just decreases the ability to conceive for some women. Two of my aunts each a child in their 40's and another one in her 50's. And I know non-family members who have gotten pregnant at a later age as well. It's not just some soap opera trope that gets thrown around every couple of years. So I just don't get the whole "she's too old to get pregnant" excuse.
Menopause.
Some women in their 30's have been known to get menopause too, tho. If it was said that Kristen was going through menopause then that would an actual medical reason as to why she couldn't get pregnant - not just because she's "old." Which is what I was pointing out. There are a ton of reasons why she shouldn't be able to get pregnant, but using her age as an excuse is the weakest one since it's not entirely impossible for someone her age to get pregnant.
Menopause is remarkable when you're 30, but it's not when you're 55. And age is a factor on top of Kristen's established infertility. If you can't get pregnant in your late twenties or early thirties, like Kristen was, adding twenty years is generally not going to help. It's not one "excuse" or the other, the factors in fertility are additive. There are always miracle babies, though. The only reason none of that matters is this is a stupid soap opera, that has pretty much no relationship to reality. Yeah that's how they were able to make Marlena pregnant at 60 back in 2005. It would be ridiculous to make Kristen pregnant at 50, just as it was absurd and stupid to make Marlena pregnant at 60. :hmmph:

I'm still reading comments, but it looks like people are forgetting the truly exciting pairing when ED returns -- Kristen-Ciara. Just when Hope gets her misbehaving daughter under control, here comes Ciara's mentor! :)
Can you imagine how upset Ciara will be when Hope arrests Kristen for drugging & raping Eric? Maybe that's what causes her to set fire to her house (a la Matt's theory). You mean nobody told Ciara that her idol was the person that ended her other idol's career?
