Am I the only one who found it preposterous that the priest threatened to have the bullied child removed from the school and not the bully? I know that Aiden was a little brash and that this is soap land and Salem is a town run by the Horton and Brady families, but come on...

Quoting limited to 4 levels deep
Gabi never tried to keep Will out of Arianna's life. She specifically told him he would always be a part of his daughter's life.Gabi agreed to let Nick say that he was the father because she did not want to interfere in Will's relationship with Sonny.Even When Nick tried to blackmail Will into giving up his rights,Gabi told Will he would always be a part of his daughter's lifJust because Gabi did not get in Nick's face and start screaming at him about his plan to get Will to give up his parental right does not mean she was trying to keep him out of the picture. That is why Will's relationship with Gabi has not changed. Also Gabi did not intentionally hurt Melanie. She hired Andrew to pretend to stalk her. When she found out about the kidnapping and said she was going to the police,Andrew blackmailed her to keep her from reporting that he kidnapped Melanie.
Gabi also went into the tunnel and helped Melanie to escape.Gabi is not a bad person, she does not follow her own instincts, she always allows someone with worse judgement to persuade her to go against her instinct to do the right thing.
Oh, come on BeeBee! Let's not whitewash Gabi's complicity in Will's blackmail and keeping him away from his daughter. She knew from the beginning that Nick blackmailed Will and was holding something over his head but said nothing as long as she got what she wanted. She always deferred to Nick when it came to Will having access to his baby. Gabi didn't act like a friend to Will in her Gack period. I seem to remember a scene when Sonny and Sami were trying to get Will's confession and Will was tasked to distract Gabi, he gave her a gift and Gabi said to him: I thought you wanted to pressure me to have access to the baby? WTF! Why would she have any issue with the baby's father having access to her daughter? She said one thing to Will but acted in a different way when he was not there. She told her brother and everyone else that Will wanted the abortion, when he was supportive to her from the start. She used his love for Sonny to put doubts into his head and manipulate him. She was fine whith her husband's bigotry towards her best friend. She was really a lousy friend that time. The only thing that makes me forgive her is that she was being controlled and manipulated by Nick.
I am not whitewashing,I am stating what I saw play out on screen. It's a matter of interpreting what was seen on screen.I agree with your assessment of Nick because of what I saw and heard Nick do and say.Based on what I saw on screen,Gabi had every reason to believe Will wanted the abortion. He did not attempt to disuade her from having the abortion,he borrowed money to pay for the abortion and went to the clinic with her for the abortion. Will did not once prior to Gabi entering the exam room say anything to her about not having the abortion,he only attempted to stop her after she entered the room but the receptionist/nurse would not allow him access to her.If Gabi had not changed her mind about having the abortion, there would be no little Ari.Gabi did not know Will did not want her to have the abortion prior to making her own decision on the issue but she did accept it when he later told her about it.Gabi went behind Nick's back and told Will he would always be part of his daughter's life.Gabi could have married Nick before the baby was born then refused to allow a paternity test and Will,Sami, and the others would have had a difficult time getting a court order for that test but she did not do that.Gabi is the one who told the hospital staff that the baby's name was Horton. There are not many women who will chose their friemds over their spouse.I respect that Gabi was trying to talk Nick down and support Will's rights. You give your interpretation of what you saw on screen and I gave mine.If you can provide a clip showing Gabi actually stating that she agreed with Nick's bigotry toward Will and/or Sonny I can be persuaded but until I actually see the clip(s)supporting your interpretation of what played out on screen,my opinion of what I saw and heard on screen will remain the same and we will just have to agree to disagree.
There are a lot of posters who don't like Gabi or Rafe and/or find them boring. They are entitled to their opinion.I have always liked Gabi even though I don't always agree with what she does and I will miss her when she leaves and the same goes for Rafe.
I'm just going from memory here, but I seem to recall Will being initially appalled at the thought of the abortion. He agreed to it because it was what Gabi wanted and he knew her life would be affected the most. I think he even asked her a couple of times at the clinic if she was really sure and that she didn't have to go through with it.

I do agree that Gabi would not intentionally hurt Will. She was caught up in giving her baby a good life and wanting to be with Nick. She was weak and didn't stand up to Nick. There were a couple of moments when she was bitchy to Will and used the fact that he could lose Sonny against him. However, I agree that it was mostly inconsistent writing. She encouraged Will to talk to Sonny on Valentines Day, even though them getting back together wasn't in her best interests at the time.

All in all, I think Gabi is a good person and it makes me sad to think that she could come to a bad end!

Father Louis said that to Aiden because AIDEN couldn't keep his temper in line during their conversation & was swinging insults & accusations at Hope. Also, I wouldn't exactly consider Ciara a bully since she seems to only have a problem with Chase. And it also doesn't sound like Ciara's picking on him. It's more that Chase is rubbing Ciara the wrong way because he's always raving about his dad.

I thought it was crazy that they were saying Salem is run by the Hortons and the Bradys. They may have prominence in some areas but they hardly run the town. And Aiden must have done some research on Hope to learn she was a Horton.

Yeah, I was watching when the good padre reprimanded Aiden, and I still don't agree with his threat to have Chase removed just because his father was loud and upset. I feel Ciara's pain at not having Bo around, but does that give her the right to "harass," "make things unpleasant" for another child just because she doesn't want to hear about that child's father? Worse yet, does that warrant the explicit threat for Chase to be removed from St. Luke's? Father Luis was out of line, IMO, and I can't help to think that if Ciara were being harassed and Bo were around, he would have behaved in much the same manner as Aiden who only wants to make things better for his son.

Aiden's comment about Salem being run by the Bradys and the Hortons ... felt odd to me.

It wasn't odd that *Aiden* felt that way.
But it felt weird *to me* as how *I* view the Bradys.

Because I was watching back in the day ,..

I always saw the Hortons as upper-middle-class (doctors, lawyers, etc) with some wealth but mostly influence due to good reputation. I suppose Tom being Chief of Staff at the hospital gave him and his family a good reputation and community influence, and a great income. But not uber-wealthy. And not "running the town".

I always saw the Bradys written to be "working class" Irish-Americans.
Sean and Caroline ran the Brady Fish Market and worked very hard.
Sean and Caroline's children:
Roman was a cop -- as a member of the force, but not in charge.
Kayla was a nurse at the hospital and at the Riverfront Clinic. (didn't become a doctor til decades later?)
Kim was off-screen. Later revealed to have secretly been a prostitute? (I'm fuzzy on the timeline).
Bo was a sailor in the Merchant Marine. (Bo was later revealed to be the biological son of Victor Kiriakis via an affair that Caroline had had off-screen, but Bo always considered himself to be a working class Brady and the son of Sean's heart.). He was the rebel on a motorcycle and only later became a cop.
The Brady family was considered to be of "reliable reputation" as in 'trying to do the right thing" but *not* of a "fancy/wealthy/powerful" reputation at all.
Sean and Caroline later adopted the teen Frankie and boy Max, who seemed to be in need (with an unrevealed past).
Sean and Caroline eventually changed from running the Brady Fish Market to running the Brady Pub. But the Pub was always considered to be a working class place.

I do remember that Hope got an inheritance on her 18th birthday, and she had some privilege of wealth and reputation as the granddaughter of Tom and Alice. But due to Hope's long marriage to working class Bo ... and Bo being a working class cop ... and Hope being a working class cop ... I see Hope as a smart savvy ordinary citizen and not as a person who wields power and influence.

I suppose that since Aiden says he just moved to Salem in November 2013 ... I can see how *he* would notice that Roman is now Police Commissioner and Roman's sister Kayla is now Chief of Staff at the Hospital. So that's how Aiden would *assume* that the Bradys were one of the families that "runs Salem".

But it feels weird to *me* knowing the Brady family history.

not really...it was to try to keep Aiden in order. I didn't read too much into it. I didn't feel Father Louis was really serious about acting on that "threat" or whatever.

Come on Ron, We are counting on YOU !!

One thing I noted with the Ej and Abby phone call was that he seemed to be genuinely happy to hear her voice and to talk to her. Maybe it finally dawned on him that Sami simply will never love him the way he wishes she would? She will always think the worse of him, she will never see him being on the right side of anything, regardless how many times he helps her get out of her messes. She will never trust him, etc. I think he realized yesterday that his relationship with Sami is a lost cause. What I don't understand is why he didn't just end it yesterday and be done with it. He's already cheated on Sami, now he's developing feelings for Abby as the phone call scenes depicted yesterday. He won't WANT to stop himself soon....if Sami doesn't react soon (which I think she will next week), I could see Ej finally coming to the conclusion that Sami isn't worth it for him, not when he has Abby willing, able and wanting him.

I agree that Ciara's actions were not appropriate. However, Hope is willing to try to work things out and figure out a solution to the problem before them. On the other hand, Aiden just keeps trying to sling accusations and all sorts of other inappropriate comments at Hope - whether it's accusing her of being a bad mom, or accusing her of being able to get away with things cause her last name is "Brady". I don't believe for a second that Father Louis' threat to Aiden was real, or that he would've gone through with it. I think it was just the most direct way of forcing Aiden to rethink his attitude and how he was behaving towards Hope.
I do agree that Bo's reaction would be similar to Aiden's.

I'm assuming that Aiden thinks that because all the research he did on Hope points to articles and whatnot about the Hortons & the Bradys. And he probably then looked at other history about Salem and found even more related to the Hortons & the Bradys. They are predominant families in Salem, and Hope (through her marriage to Bo), is part of both families, which makes her have a lot of support. Aiden probably also knows that the Hortons donated money towards St. Luke's Academy.
His reasoning for why he thought the Bradys run Salem was kinda explained when he went to bash Eric and said he got off.

You're right -- "predominant families in Salem" is a good way to describe what the Hortons and Bradys are now.

Oh right. I forgot about that. All the general public knows is that Father Eric Brady was seen on video having sex with a female parishioner, and yet hasn't been punished other than being temporarily defrocked.

Technically, it's not illegal to have sex with someone, even if you're a priest. It's against the rules of the church, but it's not an actual law. Aiden, like the father that punched Eric, probably thinks that Eric knew what he'd done, but he continued to teach at St. Luke's. If Eric is only temporarily defrocked, then maybe he's also only on temporary suspension from teaching at the school. Those would also add to why Aiden would think the Bradys have power to swing around.

I remember Will and Gabi behaving like adults, considering all their options. Will did seem taken aback by the abortion but agreed because Gabi wanted it, and it was later thrown in his face. He also offered to marry Gabi, and in context, it seemed like he was willing to put his sexuality aside and try and make it a "real" marriage and it was Gabi who, while touched, knew the folly of that.

It seems to me that things only went south when Nick found out about the pregnancy, and later when people like Sami and Rafe found out, nobody actually seemed to think anything about what Will and Gabi wanted, were capable of doing and what was best for the child. Will and Gabi were the ones initially who seemed to handle things correctly.

That's why I don't get the idea that EJ really loves Abby but will try to make things work with Sami. Why on earth would he ever do that? If he decides that Abby makes him feel like the king of the world and that Sami makes him feel like shit, why wouldn't he just dump Sami? It can't be the kids because the idea that EJ DiMera would deny himself being with the woman he loves just so his kids are in a consistent home environment is even more laughable than the idea that EJ is nobly fucking Abby to save Sami. Seriously, I can't imagine a plot point that would be less consistent with EJ's character than that one.

You are right! I think it didn't help that Gabi is easily influenced.

As for the point I was making about her being with Nick despite his clear homophopia, fer sleeping with Nick right after his "hate the sin, love the sinner," speech was really off putting. If my boyfriend (he wasn't even her boyfriend at that point) said something that bigoted and our talk didn't change his views, it would be the end of us.

Yeah, the situation was escalating, and Father Louis knew exactly how to get Aiden's attention by using the welfare of his son. I have no doubt he knew that Aiden would back down. That's all I took from it. Chase was never in danger of being expelled.

The first of the conversation clearly showed me EJ reaching into his tactical bag to smooth over the situation with Abby. That reaction is like breathing for him. His telling Abby he was glad she called was the only point of sincerity I saw. Then he reverted right back into suave/distancing mode for the goodbye. He's not done with Sami at this point. He hasn't worked anything out or come to any realized understanding of what the repercussions of his actions may be or what "things" plays apart in him doing what he's doing. Do I believe that will come? Yes. Is the story there now? No.

Am I the only one who found it preposterous that the priest threatened to have the bullied child removed from the school and not the bully? I know that Aiden was a little brash and that this is soap land and Salem is a town run by the Horton and Brady families, but come on...
not really...it was to try to keep Aiden in order. I didn't read too much into it. I didn't feel Father Louis was really serious about acting on that "threat" or whatever.
I interpreted Father as trying to get Aiden to take it down a notch and try to find a solution to the problem that would allow both children to remain at the school but if he did not want to do so he did have the option of removing his son from St.Luke,he was not going to expel Ciara.

I respect people who are able to hold to their principles even in their relationships with others.I know people who are bigoted but don't realize they are engaging in bigotry.
Instead of cutting them out of my life,I look for opportunities to change their views for the better. When they make a bigoted remark I just present an alternative view without shouting and getting in their face.Sometimes they slowly change their view on a particular issue sometimes they don't but I don't give up trying to find a way to persuade them to change their view.
