The fact is that people staying at home because of the weather still chose to watch the show (or all of the soaps apparently.) when they could have watched something else, read, gone online, played games etc. If the show was dreadful, people would change the channel or turn the TV off altogether. I think it's really encouraging that the "shut ins "chose to watch.
