I like Kate Mansi, a lot. I've really enjoyed her acting choices.

Yet I'd prefer that she remain a part of an ensemble cast, and not be a "lead".

I feel this way because I used to be an AlisonSweeney/SamiBrady fan many years ago, but I eventually got sick of the overuse of her character ... which, in my opinion, caused the show to fall apart.

I'd rather enjoy KM in small doses, or as a lead of a small story arc. But not as the lead of the entire show.

I love Ari Zucker even more, and I think AZ is a great actress. She totally rocks her scenes, and has chemistry with everyone. But I wouldn't want to watch "the Nicole show" either.

I think JS fond of KM. I've seen pictures and videos of JS standing next to KM chatting away at DOD last year.

I think AZ should be lead. IMO she's one of the best actresses on the show out of the 30-40 crowd. Now when she first came on she sucked but when she returned back to Days she has been fantastic no matter what they throw at her. They just need to write better things for Nicole although I do think Nicole is shaping up nicely as she gets older. I like how her character has progressed and she's more a mature thinking adult and not stuck in a time warp like Sami who still acts like she's 5 years old which is another reason why her being lead annoys me because she doesn't act like an adult should act.

I don't think KM has really had a shot to showcase anything truly dynamic. But, when I was looking at old EJ/Abby scenes (most of them I never really saw before because I don't watch regularly), I was REALLY impressed with this scene from 2012:

Starts at 4:00. The writing helped, great discussion, but it was also nice, subtle take on grief (because less is often more) and showed a level of depth and maturity in Abby that I'd never really seen before.

Quoting limited to 4 levels deep
Hmmmm....how about Sami using T for revenge sex after the affair comes out? She goes to drown her sorrows and ends up bedding the bartender. Poor T needs to get some, right?

Might as well. Those two have been wading in the kiddie pool, she may as well just dive right in.
It's so funny you say that because I think it has been a detriment to both EJ & Sami to be circling around the younger crowd. Sami should be all about helping Will, but so much of last year was spent with the young 20-somethings rather than people their own age. Even the whole Bernardi video mess involved the jr set. Only the last couple of months did they get into the Kristen/Eric/Brady mess & even then it was basically at the same time of the Nick mess which again involved the jr. set.

Of course that comes from not having characters like Lucas, Carrie, Phillip, Chloe, Austin etc for them to interact with. And while James referred to Guy as "a lovely young man," Guy is the oldest of that set of actors and that kind of shows how James categorizes that group.
Guy pretty much playing ej fiance son problay why James see him as young.last year what should have younger set story shift more Sami and ej vs Nick you barely realize Wilson and Gabi were in story despite the story was about will and Gabi baby.the could easily lucas interact with younger crew than ej and Sami.instead let ej give will father advices they should let will real father lucas do it.lucas never really allowed to interact with Sami lot when she pair with someone else.the writers seem to want people to forget about lucas and sami as family or there actually fans of them pair up.

I'm still rooting for an EJabby pairing. Now ask me something like that last year and I would have told you no way in hell would I ever want EJ with Abby. LMFAO. Funny how things change.

JL? BC?
I find Ejabby very icky. I don't know why. I don't watch the show but seeing them in the avatars here just makes me cringe involuntarily. I'm not biased against them. I like both characters enough. I'm not necessarily pro Ejami. In fact, I would like for this to drive Sami in Lucas' arms. Maybe it has to do with the actors not blending well.

I think KM is fine, and I think she actually does well when she has real material, but I can't really compare her to AS or AZ. She hasn't had anything like the material they've had and this kind of story isn't really giving it to her at this point yet either. My guess is that she'd be somewhere between AZ and AS, but my other guess is that we'll never really know.
I don't think KM is a bad actress, but I don't find her compelling on-screen. Call it charisma or whatever, but she lacks that intangible star quality that the real leading ladies have. Which is fine, so long as they don't try to turn her into one.
Yeah, she doesn't have the strongest screen presence, but if you have the acting chops to back it up that's not necessarily a bad thing. I don't see either the actor or character ever really being a lead, though.
Agreed. She's a decent actress, so I think she and Abby work perfectly fine as supporting player. But yeah, her presence isn't strong enough to be a lead. Days' problem is that they have hardly anyone under the age of 35 with a strong enough screen presence to grow into a lead. JL and CMo are the only ones that I see as possibilities. I think BC might too, but it's hard to judge since he's only been a bit player.
ITA about the jr set and the sad part is that I really only see Nicole/AZ capable of being the leading character/actress. It has not done Days any favors to be so Sami heavy the past few years. And Nicole does need to keep some snark and with Sami soon out of the pic, she needs a new foil to be snarky to.
Maybe by ending the Bope limbo, Hope can move back to the forefront. The character of Jennifer is just so ...?? I can't even think of a word to describe my distaste for her. If Eve comes back as the Eve we know, she could be a force to reckon with, but who knows with the writing and I'm not familiar with KDP & her skills. Of course, ED could do it, but I don't think that is what she is looking for at this point in her career.

You know, KM just got performer of the week in SOD and if Ejabby should come to an end, at least she got that recognition. I was impressed with her when Jack died. Since then, they've struggled trying to find a place for her on the show. Storylines with Cameron were awful and I loathe virgin storylines so of course I didn't like that. I didn't care about her and Chad until they split up.

I think she's done very well in this storyline. She's portrayed vulnerable as well as sexy. Her freakout moments (like in bed when she realized she had slept with brothers and Dimeras) were natural and realistic (not over the top like CB is). I also think she has good line delivery with sarcastic comments she makes such as Phoenixboat and EJ having to deal with a bowling alley emergency.

I'm not going to pan AS's acting. I've done that enough. I think AS is better than some actors on the show (GG for example) but when she acts "angry" with JS it comes across pretty bad. JS can do layers when asked but I don't exactly think he's the greatest actor in the world. I don't think he deserves an Emmy nod anymore than AS does.

I agree with you. If we compare KM to someone from her age group, she doesn't have the likability, chrisma and acting talent of Jen Lilley. Just imagine KM trying to work with the crapy material that JL is currently working with. JL also can really handle heavily dramatic material (just watch her GH scenes during Maxie's imprisonment). KM is good with light, cutesy brother/sister, mom/daughter, or cousin stuff but passable in other stuff.

none of the younger set have played very meaty material. For me the verdict is out on Km.....I haven't felt her emotions in her struggles, the fallout may prove she has chops though. TPTB have given her a tremendous opportunity to prove herself.

I hope after this story is over the airtime shifts to the older crowd, and a new leading lady emerges.
I see Nicole, Hope again, and Eve in the hunt though. Possibly Jen Lilly if Theresa starts to redeem herself.

I have to agree that the performers under 35 don't possess that special "It" factor to lead the immediate younger group or become a Lead in the future. They are all decent enough performers, but nothing to make you stand and take note of if they are not delivering some soapy dramatic and/or emotional scene. With that being said, I think KM has the potential to become a very nuanced performer.

That's true about KM. I also like how she's plays Abby's intelligence. Abby's a big fan of deductive reasoning and I can always see KM work out her thought process in her line delivery. My biggest critique with her is that in "angry" scenes she can veer towards being very shrieky. Like when she was telling off Adrienne, I wish she would reign it in.

I also agree regarding JS, bot the GREATEST actor out there. But, I feel like he has a lot of presence and charisma. So couple that with his ability to add layers and I think he gives memorable performances. I say this objectively, I can't say I'm EJ's biggest fan.

IA. I think he's a good actor, but I find that I'm more impressed with his quiet performances as opposed to the big soapy moments. When he goes big, he loses me. To this day, I think the scene(s) in which EJ finds out Johnny is dead is some of his worst work. Conversely, I think the scene in which Hopes calls to inform EJ of Lexi's death is one of his best.

I love JL. She just has a really crappy story right now. There is really no explanation why she is obsessed with bedding Dr. Tan. When she was faking not remembering anything, I really believed her, and then she had that twisted moment with JJ where she admitted to remembering, I was like Damn she fooled me. She was great on GH. I hope they give her more to work with on Days. Hopefully Eve will teach her a thing or two. But I wish it were the original, Charlotte Ross. I loved her character when she when she was a teen.

OOOH, yes, I'd definitely add BB to the very short list of performers under 35 with strong screen presence. He's the best of the group IMO. It's funny though, I don't think of him as part of the tween group because I assume we won't have him for much longer.
