Since EJ has been the one who wanted to end the separation all along, of course he gets her a gift for Valentine's Day. The only thing that's a sign of is his desire to be with Sami. |

Yeah I don't think there's any reason for Sami to be suspicious about the necklace. It's Valentines Day afterall and last year he got her those huge earrings. I'm hoping Abby telling Sami that she and EJ have a secret raises some flags though. |

Oh, is she going to say that? I hope it's part of a calculated plan, and not that she just can't help telling Sami that they're hiding something. |

To be honest, Days really does not have any good couples to feature during Valentine's week except Wilson. And if they're off the list, who's left. Eric and Nicole possibly but they are not even together. They don't have love matches on this show currently. Its just the state of this soap. |

That is true and a big void at Days. It's good to have couples in conflict but you also need some couples in love..some good old fashioned romance. Days has been lacking in this department for quite some time now. |

After letting this sink in I'm still disgusted. But I realize this isn't the show's fault nor the actors (obviously). However I believe NBC is largely to blame despite being scared of affiliates. Most of all I fear this is a bad sign of Wilson being severely edited coming up and becoming more watered down then they already are. I just find it hard to believe based on this info that Wilson getting married will have much airtime at all. I hope I'm wrong but I've sadly lost a lot of faith. I do also believe days is just as disappointed as fans in not being to properly promote the first legal gay wedding on a soap and maybe why Jude was there to set the record straight that it's not their doing.

I feel the same way. I just don't know how much revenue is NBC getting from affiliates in areas that has more livestock than people. The big metropolitan markets are not problematic so why give too much to very small markets. NBC should've done the brave thing and stood up to what's just, instead of succumbing to pressure from the worst segment of our society. They should've learned a thing or two from JC Penny. You win when you stand up to principles against bigotry, instead they coward in the face of a reactionary minority. |

And Russia let some woman who is well known in their country take part in the opening ceremony after she had been caught sending racist e-mail concerning President Obama.......made excuses for her about politics weren't going to play a role. NBC should have told them where to stick it and like them they were going to do things the way they saw fit. |

I remember decades ago -- when Ted Turner had full ownership of all of his many cable TV networks (before he sold them all). On one of his networks, the plan was to soon broadcast a special regarding an environmental issue. At some time (days/weeks) before the planned broadcast, one of the major corporations who was planned to advertise during the special ... withdrew their ads because some of the general public who bought this company's products ... got all upset. The corporation withdrew their ads and refused to pay for the planned ads. This meant that Turner's network would lose this advertising revenue. There wasn't time to sell replacement advertising. But Ted Turner was rich, and he believed in the message of the environmentalism special, and he could afford to lose the advertising revenue. So he broadcast the special without any major advertising (or with only a couple of smaller ads from other companies). Ted Turner lost money on the deal, but he didn't care. He stood up for what he believed in. He could do this because he had full ownership of his cable networks, and he could make the decisions, and there weren't zillions of layers of management, committees, board-members, etc. ------ ------ ------ ------ ------ Okay so back to the main point here .... NBC is too convoluted and weighed down. NBC was owned by General Electric for decades. Then it was owned by NBC.Universal. Now NBC is fully owned by Comcast. Per wikipedia, "On February 12, 2013, Comcast announced an intention to acquire the remaining 49% of General Electric's interest in NBCUniversal. Comcast completed the purchase on March 19, 2013." And nearly one-fifth of the states have laws identical to the ones in Russia. http://www.policymic.com/articles/81437/8-u-s-states-have-anti-gay-laws-strikingly-similar-to-those-in-russia Note that many of the comments encourage more laws "against homosexuality". Open bigotry/violence rages in a significant portion of the US. The only significant difference is the US federal government would not tolerate thuggish brutal behavior. Then again.... http://www.nydailynews.com/new-york/gay-bashing-attacks-rise-city-article-1.1430370 http://www.oregonlive.com/clackamascounty/index.ssf/2013/12/beating_of_gay_portland_man_at.html http://www.10news.com/news/hillcrest-man-beaten-with-baseball-bat-for-being-gay-suffers-broken-eye-socket-cracked-ribs12242013 http://www.policymic.com/articles/71415/u-s-marine-ryan-langenegger-viciously-attacked-after-defending-his-gay-friends http://www.ibtimes.com/taj-patterson-gay-black-student-beaten-brooklyn-possible-knockout-game-attack-claims-orthodox-jews http://www.lgbtqnation.com/2012/03/two-gay-men-beaten-with-baseball-bats-in-dallas-hate-crime/ These stories rarely get covered by national media in the USA. My guess: NBC and Days sponsors got complaints about the episode which showed WilSon in bed. They probably also have intra show numbers showing that viewers turned the show off when those scenes came on. The aggregate ratings look really good, but the deep demos may tell a different story. I think it's all about the bottom line. |

To continue what I was saying here ... Who do we complain to then? To Comcast? To the FCC? To whom? |

I am not sure that any good will come from complaining to anyone. This isn't an FCC thing. There are no "same sex" guidelines. I have no doubt that NBC has some type of ancient broadcast standards that they use. They are going to put out promos that drive viewers. AS has been all over the news for the past month, so it shouldn't be a surprise that she is going to be heavily featured in a 17-second promo. The best thing to do is to contact the network and praise their realistic (?) portrayal of a gay couple co-parenting a young daughter. Thank them for keeping the storyline and let them know that you will continue to watch the story develop. That will get more attention than bitter squealing about a 4-second snippet in a 17-second promo that airs only when the local affiliates can't sell the airtime. And, let's be honest here. Once Chandler decided to leave the show, DOOL could have written off the entire storyline and moved on, just like it has with nearly every other young actor's character who has departed this century. Rachel Melvin leaves and the show basically forgets she exists aside from a holiday mention now and then. Shelley Hennig leaves, ditto. Same for the characters of Shawn/Belle/Philip and Cameron/Melanie/Chad. Actor departs, character AWOL. I don't follow the crazily deranged fanbases of any couple, but I have seen plenty of commentary that there is a significant amount of anti-Guy Wilson backlash out there. (The blogger GreginHollywood cites that he gets raging emails of contempt every time he posts the latest version of Will+Jackson). It's likely the network is hearing this too, so it's not just the anti-gay folks who might be whining. The best thing to do is congratulate the show for broadening its scope and including all families. |

According to Judie's twitter page, she's the owner of her own production company. According to Judie's Linked-in page, for the past two years, she's the owner of her own production company AND she works for "Corday Productions". She creates writes. produces, directs, and edits "promotional and marketing campaigns and Days promos" for NBC-Universal *via* her own production company. Linked-in says that PREVIOUSLY (before March 2012), she worked directly for NBC-Universal, doing primetime promos designed to be broadcast during NBC sports shows. *** CAUTION that Linked-in profiles can be wrong or out-of-date. *** If -- and only if -- the Linked-in profile is accurate -- then ... she's *possibly* an independent contractor/consultant who owns her own business and makes things for Ken Corday. Perhaps this is why she wasn't afraid to speak out about this? *** again ... CAUTION that Linked-in profiles can be wrong or out-of-date. *** |
