||pitiful. deserving though. Days lost everything good they had going for them. They should be working on getting that back instead of playing mean "jokes" on the audience as in this week. I hope when the ratings come out for April 21 that THEY are surprised like we were that day!|

Wow..Days was the only soap to lose in total viewers over last year.

||No surprise. Days has been snooze-worthy lately. Between "Fetch of Our Lives", the EJami/EJabby dud, and Jordan's non-story, Days is a good lead-in for nap-time. It's a shame, because this time last year was when Days started to get really good (Vargas arriving, Ericole angst starting, Kristen's unraveling). I pray to God things get better come May!|

||Sigh. It's already better than last week. They'll be fine. Stupid lucky soap.|

It wont get better. :shame:

I kinda feel TPTB at 'Days" realized this will happen by the time they taped last and this week's episodes. That's why they hired KDP and ED and announced it immediately. Too bad, their first scenes will air only in summer.
And new lows for Y&R..... quite deserved.

I hate seeing those 1.7s but they are certainly deserved.
For what it's worth, Monday's episode wouldn't have bothered me so much if it hadn't been hyped the way it was.

It's kind of funny to see such numbers, where most of the soaps had increases in totals, but almost all demos were down... that means more older people are watching....
And also, while every other soap had an increase in totals compared to last year, Days went down.... And it's no wonder really, I mean, granted the weekly promo was about Ejami, but it didn't hold true because the whole week was basically about Dannifer. The Ejami letter thing only started very abruptly on Friday.
It'll be interesting to see what the next week's numbers are since there was yet another Dannifer promo dominating that, and the fakeout with Ejami... if the ratings are recorded in the beginning of the show, it might show an increase for that Monday though.
Well, at least there weren't any 1.6's this week.... thank God. Let's see what the deal is for the following week though with the Dannifer promo.
Also, I have to say, I cannot imagine the NBC and Sony suits sitting on this information and just not do anything... I wouldn't be surprised if they were telling Ken Corday to get things popping, and quick........
At least I hope so, lol.

Btw. So deserved decreases for Y&R, happy to see them fall and hard, that show is awful.

Oh man! I hate to see this but I can certainly understand it. 70 percent of the characters are either involved with this Daniel storyline or singing his praises and gnashing their teeth about him. Now Eric and Nicole are fully involved. Brady is involved. Abigail is involved. JJ and Paige. Im waiting for Gabi and Nick, Will and Sonny, Jordan and Rafe, Hope and Aiden and even Sami and EJ to get in on the Daniel thing and stop focusing on their storylines.

||There is nothing that Sony and NBC can do…..When DAYS tapes 4-5 months in advance, it’s to costly to re-film any thing that isn’t working. So what is in the can is what you get for awhile!|

I don't think Days is surprised (or concerned) with the dip in ratings. They got their 2 year renewal. They had to bring the stories to a simmer after a boiling hot run from November-March. The main stories are in a holding pattern (Nick, EJabby/EJami, Eric/Nicole, etc.). I'm surprised that no one recognizes the current Fetch story (and the EJami swerve) for what it is: filler.
If you remember, the same exact thing happened this time last year with Fetch/Chloe. It was a story they put on screen to hold things over until their huge May 2013 (Kristen/Brady wedding fallout part I, Nick losing it all).
I think the same is happening here. The current Fetch story is about to end. It was a short-term story to occupy the screentime because they weren't ready to pull the trigger on their bigger stories. I'm spoiler-free, but May *sounds* like the aforementioned main stories are going to kick into gear. Kristen will be back on-screen soon after in June. In other words, it's been a purposeful "lull". A show can't fire on all cylinders 365 days a year. These lulls happen, and I often think that they are planned for larger purposes.
Just my .02.

"Stupid lucky soap"??? It's gonna take a lot more than just a couple weeks of low ratings to
cause NBC/Sony/DAYS to be concerned.
|lysie||Apr 26 2014, 02:14 PM Post #15|
Yeah, that was kind of my point. Though actually, that's all it took for them to get rid of MarDar, lol.

Killing myself slowly
Well to be fair, the taping schedule is probably at the demand of SONY and/or NBC...I am sure if they wanted to change the filming process, either of them could step in and do it....but they won't...DAYS is cheap to produce because of the taping schedule and the network and producing companies are making more money.

Killing myself slowly
I agree...I tuned into Y&R last week for a few episodes and the show is UNRECOGNIZABLE!
It doesn't resemble anything close to the soap I used to watch...literally nothing.
|3WishGenie||Apr 28 2014, 07:44 PM Post #18|
They got a slight boost early in the week most likely due to the B&B crossover but other than that there is nothing to write home about. It is downright predictable and dull.
