Greg and Blake were the best male actors on the show last year. As much as I like EM they just were. Sad they didn't get noms, especially Blake.

CM is fine, but I don't think he should have been nominated over FS, but I've felt that way since FS started. He's a much better actor, it's just that he's thought of as "supporting" to Chandler (though I think that's starting to change a bit).

Awesome news about Eileen and Ari! Although like others said I really hope they don't split the vote.

Anyway, congrats to the noms!

(And I sort of feel bad for AS).
Eileen has both Y&R and DAYS people voting for her. That could be said for Heather Tom, too, but Eileen was there more recently. On the other hand, Heather's brother is now back on Y&R, so... I'm betting Eileen wins it. Y&R peeps rally hard (DD last year, when JT deserved it without question).
She has Y&R/DAYS AND B&B people who will vote for her

I think it will come to Eileen and Heather and Eileen winning. She truly deserves it.

Billy Miller has it in the bag. I don't think that there is a better actor in Daytime for years. I would love for him to return as Lucky Spencer with a lot of outs. I would better have him some of the time than none of the time.

Scott Clifton will probably win.

For Outstanding Supporting, I think this may be tough. Jane Elliot is so subtle yet so strong. MCE is so good and EH was so amazing around her losing Delia scenes. I know I bawled right along with her.

I would like to see Hurricane Dani from OLTL win just because.

I would love to see Bryan Craig win for younger. He is, IMO, underrated. Most people are all about Chad and while he is good, I ould like to see Bryan pull it out

Forget Zucker & Lang....the Lead Actress Emmy is straight up between Heather Tom & Eileen Davidson.

I am thinking ED has more supporters at Y&R than HT does to be honest. ED is beloved at Y&R. She also has some support I am sure from B&B since she was there for a few years as well.

Heather Tom gets all of her support from B&B/Y&R....ED has the advantage of snagging love from both Bell soaps AND from DAYS....so she has 3 soaps behind her, while HT has 2.

Both will have the other nominees (Lang for Tom and Zucker for Davidson) pulling some support away from their shows as well, so they are even in that regard.

If HT beats ED...to win her 4th LA emmy in a row....just NO!

Well, Amelia Heinle is now an Emmy nominee. And she derserved it.

Eric Martsolf but not Greg Vaugh?!? What?!?

Chandler Massey is the only nominated younger actor form Days. I cannot even...
Seriously, show me one scene that even warranted Eric Marstolf mentioned as a pre-nom. I can't even think of one. I can think of a handful for Greg just off the top of my head.

Blake deserved the nom. I mean, I genuinely believe the system is fucked up, and it needs to be re-worked completely, but that's a whole other conversation. The soap "community" believes in it, and holds an Emmy nomination/win up as the standard of which they celebrate their fellow actors for excellence (or whatever)... and in that case, I believe Blake and Greg all deserved to be applauded for their excellent work.

It's the same reason I'm beyond thrilled that Jane Elliot is nominated. She's done beautiful work for decades, I adored Tracy from the minute I first watched GH, and it's because Jane makes her complicated, lovable and fierce. I would have loved to see Finola Hughes up there, too, she had some beautiful work with both Jason and Kimberly.

I'm thrilled about Ari Zucker, Jane Elliot and Jason Thompson - and I'll be rooting for Bryan Craig to win his category, he's the most improved and he's showing some excellent work right now. Would have loved to see DAYS shut out of best drama in favor of GH, and seen Finola or even Maura West get a nom, but per usual, they rarely get anything right.
Here's one clip. When the pre-noms were announced, I tweeted EM and suggested he submit this episode.

I can't see it. What's it a clip of?
Eric Martsolf had the best year of his entire career in 2013. I didn't quite word my original post properly. I'm happy he's nominated, but I also think Greg Vaughn should have nominated with him. Both were superb.

As for Chandler Massey, yes, he had some good material early last year. But, Casey and Freddie had better material and it upsets me that they're not nominated, but someone with less material is.

I LOVE Eric Martsolf. But just no. Especially not in a category that could have included Greg Vaughan, Wally Kurth, and even Blake Berris (who doesn't really do it for me either, but still).
I thought he was great in the scenes of the aftermath of the failed second wedding to Kristen. Greg was great, too, but most of his scenes were that of a boring, monotone priest. He was good in his final scene with Eileen Davidson, but Eric got the better material. Most of his scenes WAS with Eileen, and were pretty spitfire and lively. Most of Greg'a scenes involved counseling people in a boring church.

That being said, I wish both were nominated. But I'm happy for Eric and thinks he deserves it.
I mean, I don't think they should have nominated him for the boring rectory crap, but I thought GV's material from October through November was better material than what EM got, IMO. I don't think Eric is as hammy as many people do, but much like Drake, I'd have never considered him an Emmy contender (not that performance much matters anyway). I won't be disappointed if he wins though.
All it takes is one trully brilliant episode...and EM did have at least have a few of those...he clearly submitted perfectly to get this nomination.

BTW SON has confirmed that if there is no network chosen for these awards, then NATAS will stream the awards online for all to view.

You forget that Tom was on OLTL for 3-4 years (and did a heap of guest spots on AMC during that time).

And someone tell SOD that Eileen is nominated for the role of Kristen not Ashley.

Dear Kim Matula,

you're only 25. You've been in the soap biz for only 4 years. There's no need to yell 'finally'. Yell that when you've waited for 30+ years to win, like Doug Davidson or Susan Lucci.

It's gonna be a tough race in Lead Actress. B&B will likely split votes between KKL and HT. HT also has support from OLTL. Y&R folks will have to choose whether to go for Eileen or HT (although Eileen's been on the show in recent years, so that might benefit her). I think the cast and crew of Days will vote for Eileen. I know it sounds unfair towards AZ, but I think they all want ED to win and know that she's their best shot. In case of a tie, it might be people from AMC and GH deciding on the winner.

In case anyone's interested: iAMC's Denyse Tontz landed a nomination for Original Song. For a young recording artist (only 19 years old!) that is an amazing achievement.

It will all come down to the tapes that these actors submitted. It's less about who has been on which shows, who knows who, etc. When it comes down to it, the person with the best tape will win 9 times out of 10. Only then can we make the correct predictions.

As for Days, happy for ED getting a much-deserved nominatin, and thrilled for AZ sneaking into the top category. She was truly lead, has worked so hard, and deservs the recognition.

Happy for Eric Martsolf, who has had the best year of his career. I still think that Blake Berris deserved a nod for Days the most. His work was just so damn good, possibly the best performance on the show last year.

As for Chandler, there were 2 Chandlers last year. The one from January-May where he was in the midst of the Nick story, and he was riveting. Or the Chandler from June-December where he phoned it in. If he chose a tape from the first part of the year, he could three-peat. But I do think that Freddie was more consistent, and that Casey had the best single tape (his meltdown over the Jack/Kayla revelation). That's the one that surprises me the most.

As for other actors, I'm not surprised that Ali was snubbed. She's been snubbed for better years, and she didn't have many good tape options. Next year might be a different story if she submits herself.

James Scott's snub is a little surprising, since he did have one good tape opposite Joe Mascolo. But beyond that, there was little to work with. Same here, next year he could be a real contender.

And Greg Vaughn was solid, and to me could have been easily interchangable with Martsolf in supporting, but I maintain that Berris should have been ahead of them in either.

As for the younger ladies, CB has improved a great deal, but I don't know if she was worthy of a nod, so that doesn't bother me. Mansi is worthy, but didn't have the material. Next year will be her year for a nomination for sure.

I'm rooting for Ari as Lead Actress. She's handled whatever Days has thrown at her and doesn't play a one-note character. I wonder what she submitted? I hope it was the scenes in which Eric accused Nicole of raping him. I thought those scenes were GV's best work too.

I think James Scott is hindered by him constantly being stuck to AS' hip. His character is not allowed to flourish when he's constantly propping hers. I know he thinks no end of his pairing but I think once she leaves, he'll have more opportunities to show his range, especially if they stick him in story with ED. She did wonders for EM who improved dramatically and that's why he was able to get nominated.

well Carlivati seems to have a grudge against Days and Tomlin so if he has any sway, I'd assume he'll be pushing for HT over anyone at Days.

Being know as "Ali's other half" doesn't help James Scott. Ali's acting is not respected in the industry. Sami might be a popular character, but Ali is NOT a great actress, and the industry knows it.

Why did Steve Burton get a nomination? Really?

He took that deer-caught-in-the-headlights stare from General Hospital and brought it over to Young and the Restless and made Dullan even more boring than Jason during his last dozen years.

Jill Farren Phelps must have a lot of buddies on the Emmy panel.
