^ My face watching DAYS

I don't even really care about the Emmy's (now that I have gotten to see DAYS win the big award FINALLY!)....but I NEED to see Eileen Davidson win for Kristen DiMera...it will be like coming full circle for me as a DAYS viewer LOL!

AMELIA HEINLE :cheer: :cheer:

So happy for her. She was truly amazing in Delia's death storyline. You could tell that out of every lead in that story, she was the only one in real life with kids. Heartbreaking acting from her. LOVE that she got a nom! :D

I can't believe GH was snubbed for Drama/Writing/Directing. I enjoyed GH from start to finish in 2013. Very disappointed by them not getting nominated in any of those categories. Especially Drama. OLTL? Really??

I'm also disappointed that Vaughan wasn't nominated. He should've had Martsolf's place.

As to the nominees, here are my predictions:

Daytime Drama
Days of our Lives

Lead Actress
Heather Tom -- I'll be rooting for Davidson the whole time, but going up against Tom at the Emmys can't be easy.

Lead Actor
Jason Thompson

Supporting Actress
Elizabeth Hendrickson

Supporting Actor
Bradford Anderson

Younger Actress
Kelley Missal -- I don't have a clue what Missal did for OLTL online. I'm basng my prediction on her acting when OLTL was still on ABC. I'm going with Missal just because I don' think the other four are deserving.

Younger Actor
Chandler Massey

Writing
Days of our Lives

Directing
The Young and the Restless

(And I sort of feel bad for AS).
I don't, lol

She'll probably wind up with a pity nom next year anyway :blulaugh:
Her Lucci moment ;)
If she submits the landmark April 21 episode....she can kiss the Lucci moment goodbye :blulaugh:

I don't know what the answer is regarding the '2 clips' approach. Clearly you can't make the voters watch the whole year, but in the same vein, if you make them watch 5 clips, then they won't, and they'll just vote for their friends or the 'expected' winners.

Maybe a time thing would work, like they can submit ___ hours of clips. (2 hours?) If the Oscar voters are expected to watch movies, each is about that length of time.

If Sweeney gets nominated - let alone wins - an Emmy, I will drive to Burbank and bitchslap a LOT of people. I don't believe in pity Emmys.

As for Ali/Lucci, people might be forgetting that Susan Lucci had a whining campaign of epic proportion. She spent an incredible amount of time publicizing the fact that she'd never won, and she did this for a few years. Ali, to her credit, hasn't done that, though people who follow her career can tell she'd very much like to win. But yeah, if Ali starts mentioning it on talk shows or in interviews, it might happen.

Sucks Blake didn't get it. I think he's much better than Eric. And the younger actor category is weak. Chandler probably win although I think he's overrated/awful.

Well, Amelia Heinle is now an Emmy nominee. And she derserved it.

Eric Martsolf but not Greg Vaugh?!? What?!?

Chandler Massey is the only nominated younger actor form Days. I cannot even...
Seriously, show me one scene that even warranted Eric Marstolf mentioned as a pre-nom. I can't even think of one. I can think of a handful for Greg just off the top of my head.

Blake deserved the nom. I mean, I genuinely believe the system is fucked up, and it needs to be re-worked completely, but that's a whole other conversation. The soap "community" believes in it, and holds an Emmy nomination/win up as the standard of which they celebrate their fellow actors for excellence (or whatever)... and in that case, I believe Blake and Greg all deserved to be applauded for their excellent work.

It's the same reason I'm beyond thrilled that Jane Elliot is nominated. She's done beautiful work for decades, I adored Tracy from the minute I first watched GH, and it's because Jane makes her complicated, lovable and fierce. I would have loved to see Finola Hughes up there, too, she had some beautiful work with both Jason and Kimberly.

I'm thrilled about Ari Zucker, Jane Elliot and Jason Thompson - and I'll be rooting for Bryan Craig to win his category, he's the most improved and he's showing some excellent work right now. Would have loved to see DAYS shut out of best drama in favor of GH, and seen Finola or even Maura West get a nom, but per usual, they rarely get anything right.
Here's one clip. When the pre-noms were announced, I tweeted EM and suggested he submit this episode.

And also, when there was the episode with the Friday cliffhanger with Brady confronting Kristen on 11/8 and then on the episode of the next Monday 11/11 where she continued to plead with him and then he went to see Eric still at the church and still looking at that video (lol) and then all hell broke loose. IMO that was some stellar work from EM and he could have easily submitted that episode, I hope he did too.

Her work opposite Kathleen Gati was brilliant too, and then when she was portraying Obrecht in the mask... Best thing on daytime this year.
That really was great from Finola (even though I didn't think it was the best of the year). I was surprised she didn't make the nomination stage. I would have rather seen her nominated than the very undeserving KKL.

Regarding Greg Vaughan's snub, perhaps too many of the Emmy voters were unaware of how to enable their television's closed captioning feature so that they could figure out what he was whispering in his scenes. :run:

In other news, I'll never understand what Emmy voters see in Bradford Anderson.

And someone tell SOD that Eileen is nominated for the role of Kristen not Ashley.

Dear Kim Matula,

you're only 25. You've been in the soap biz for only 4 years. There's no need to yell 'finally'. Yell that when you've waited for 30+ years to win, like Doug Davidson or Susan Lucci.
The mere notion that that little girl would be nominated for *anything* is beyond me! :blulaugh:

Forget Zucker & Lang....the Lead Actress Emmy is straight up between Heather Tom & Eileen Davidson.

I am thinking ED has more supporters at Y&R than HT does to be honest. ED is beloved at Y&R. She also has some support I am sure from B&B since she was there for a few years as well.

Heather Tom gets all of her support from B&B/Y&R....ED has the advantage of snagging love from both Bell soaps AND from DAYS....so she has 3 soaps behind her, while HT has 2.

Both will have the other nominees (Lang for Tom and Zucker for Davidson) pulling some support away from their shows as well, so they are even in that regard.

If HT beats ED...to win her 4th LA emmy in a row....just NO!
You forget that Tom was on OLTL for 3-4 years (and did a heap of guest spots on AMC during that time).
Oh right.... :glare:
Yeah, but I don't think anyone'll remember her from there anyway lol. She was so badly miscast and didn't fit that role at all.

It's gonna be a tough race in Lead Actress. B&B will likely split votes between KKL and HT. HT also has support from OLTL. Y&R folks will have to choose whether to go for Eileen or HT (although Eileen's been on the show in recent years, so that might benefit her). I think the cast and crew of Days will vote for Eileen. I know it sounds unfair towards AZ, but I think they all want ED to win and know that she's their best shot. In case of a tie, it might be people from AMC and GH deciding on the winner.
I've actually seen quite a lot of people on GH boards hoping for ED to win. Most posters seem to know her or know of her and/or Kristen. I remember seeing her mentioned on many GH boards throughout last year. Hopefully this will mean the people voting will also vote for her.

I cannot see GH peeps voting for anyone on B&B.... especially not HT or KKL....

Why did Steve Burton get a nomination? Really?

He took that deer-caught-in-the-headlights stare from General Hospital and brought it over to Young and the Restless and made Dullan even more boring than Jason during his last dozen years.

Jill Farren Phelps must have a lot of buddies on the Emmy panel.
Jill Farren Phelps is a blood smelling shark who will always do everything with the scent of fresh Emmy bait in her nose. She will always try to play every angle and push every button she possibly can to get to those statuettes.

I wish the judging was based on more than just one or two reels. Heather Tom is a fantastic actress and I wouldn't be surprised at all if she won (again) but Eileen owned the whole year. She didn't just have one or two good episodes, she tore it up all year long and drove story from start to finish. She was the definition of a Lead Actress, and while I don't watch B&B so I'm admittedly biased, I can't imagine that Heather was as mesmerizing as boring ass Katie Logan as Eileen was as Kristen DiMera. There's just no topping the year she had, IMO.
This is exactly it.

Heather Tom's probable Emmy reel, the scenes of Katie finding out about her sister having an affair with her husband, is admittedly good. But there were no other scenes up to that par throughout the rest of the year. She was that good that one time, and the rest of the year pretty average to okay (the best of the best of B&B of course, though, but still).

ED kept on getting back to her own achievement and was constantly and always up to par with her previous triumphs, all the way from the hotel room scenes on January 1, to her last scenes on November 13. That is why it will *really* wrong if HT wins it (again).

Wow. I'm shocked Chandler Massey got a nom instead of Casey Moss. And Kelly Sullivan gets a nomination over at GH over Finola Hughes and Maura West? Well, there's always plenty of WTFery with these things. I am happy for Eric Martsolf (although I wish Greg Vaughan had also gotten nominated) and especially for Dominic Zamprogna. DZ did some great work this year (and in previous years). I hope Eileen wins lead actress, and I'm also pulling for Bryan Craig in the younger actor category. He's been a good addition to the GH cast.
