If he puts it this way, then it makes total sense why he's getting out. Nutso fans would drive me crazy, too.

The one person I could want to see back is Carrie. I liked her a lot the last time she was here and to me her storylines were the most interesting ones. I also loved it when she had always been the perfect sister, that she finally made mistakes and fell in love with her brother-in-law. If Carrie does come back I would love for her and Rafe to be revisited. Though I will say that Carrie coming back does not empty the void left by Sami, they are still two very different characters in their own right. And I wouldn't want for Nicole to be wasted upon being the constant underdog who always loses when she could very well be one of the leading ladies, but also at the same time I do think that is what is going to happen.......

Wow, well I guess that answers that question.
Not shocked. Thought he'd stick around, but his MF interview answers about a post-AS/Sami Days made me suspicious this week.
So, he's leaving a couple weeks before AS, right? Wonder what that means storyline-wise... Exit Storylines I would like to see--
***Life in Prison for his many crimes.
***Killed by a former associate from his murky Pre--Salem past
***deported and never allowed to enter US again
***Killed by Jack's ghost for the affair with Abby
***Gunned down by Stefano's gun runners
***After the Abigail reveal at the wedding, he kills himself

Coming out of lurkdom for this one......
So disappointed that I won't get to see EJ outside of Samanther's orbit, but I'm thinking Scott (being the EJami fangirl that he is) really wanted an HEA. Of course who knows what the storyline will be by the time they actually get off the show.
One thing puzzles me though. Why even do the affair storyline if it's not going to be revealed? Like others have speculated I think that "very special episode" was as close to a reveal as we are going to get. And if that is true and EJami do head off into the sunset together (gag) with that secret still between them, then that's really not an HEA.
I'm just wondering if there was a story in mind that had to quickly be changed when Ali/James announced they were leaving. I think that the affair's going to be revealed (how could it not be) but that the point was the there won't be those confrontational scenes, hence the dream. For one reason or another I think Sami cannot or won't confront anyone about it but they will probably talk about much later on.

I read this on OhNoTheyDidn't and almost got whiplash as I added a tab to come here. Holy crap! I guess James felt like he couldn't function without Alison on the show? EJ has never been an entity without her though, nearly every storyline he's had has come back to Sami, even when they were apart. I'm not sorry to see him go and I don't mind that he's leaving, I'm just annoyed that we'll never know if EJ could be a viable character without Samanther. There are so many places they could have taken the character with her gone.
I'm surprised he didn't stay because it would have been a great way for him to depict Ej without Sami in his life...something new.....hope he doesn't live to regret that decision
1. The show clearly loves him, so I'm sure he can come back any time he feels like he'd like to see what EJ would be like without Sami. 2. I know a lot of people were interested in seeing a post-Sami EJ, but there's never been any reason to think that JS was one of them. In fact, there have been numerous reasons to think that he wasn't one of them. On another topic, I don't think Days knew he was leaving when they wrote the affair. Or if they did, they're not doing a great job with planning for his exit (since we should already have a new replacement bad guy/crime family on canvas, so we'll be used to them by the time EJ is written out). I really hope that Days doesn't try and have BD take over the leading male role. Just no. I'd like to be able to watch this show in the future. LOL, well great finally someone who shares my opinions on this matter. I mean, I don't really have anything against BD per se but I just have to say I have never really been interested in the character. To me he's just a non-entity in many ways.

For one reason or another I think Sami cannot or won't confront anyone about it but they will probably talk about much later on. Well KC did say in an interveiw something about how you don't cheat on your fiancee without paying for it, but the payoff wouldn't happen for a long time. And I think it would be insane for them not to go for Sami finding out and seeing her real re-action to it.

I wish him the best but I'm not all that upset that he's leaving. The character had potential when he was first introduced as EJ Wells but that quickly went downhill and he's been a character I've despised since. I could actually tolerate him in scenes with Abigail earlier this year but otherwise I've always felt he was overused and overexposed and I've been tired and bored with the Sami and EJ hour for several years now.
I just hope that there is no happy ever after for Sami and EJ - I hope EJ is finally sent to prison for a crime - Lord knows he's gotten away with so many of them.
I would like to say I'm optimistic that this move will lead to more air time for characters like John, Marlena, Hope, Aiden, Lucas, Rafe, Jordan and Victor but I have no faith in this writing team. It will probably be Kristen, Brady and the oh so annoying Theresa plus the already overused Dan and Jennifer all of the time now. Lol, if only this were the case, the show might actually have the chance to be interesting again, however, I don't think it will be, I think it's going to be more of the same in regards to Dannifer and some other sainted characters...

I am glad to see James Scott leaving. I never liked his character to begin with. The writers used him to destroy LUMI. Sami and Lucas would have made a tremendous super couple. EJ just never made it as a character for me. I never saw any redeeming qualities in him. If they wanted to do a "full circle" and what I also refer to as "bookending" departure, they could link his exit to the "black glove" criminal activity.

why would they recast Sydney if both JS & AS were leaving and taking the kids with them?
They still heed her until they leave. Freudian slip? :D

Meh...EJ was never anything more than a pale imitation of Tony/Andre, anyway. Perhaps, DOOL can recapture some of its former greatness with the departure of the ridiculous EJ/Sami couple.
Bring Tony back You know, even as a quite a big fan of the DiMera family I don't really want Tony back, firstly he's a little bit too old for me, also that was such camp what he did way back when, I mean, the years of the stalker, etc. I don't want a cartoon villain back.

You know, I have absolutely no desires to see back characters like Shawn, Belle, Philip or Chloe... To me, they're remnants of years past and the times have changed. Yeah, to me BD is not leading man material. That doesn't mean he shouldn't have a place in Salem and a love interest and story. He has lots of roots and history on the show and they should utilize him more, I think.
Also, I need to say that he looked the best I have personally seen him looking in Atlanta last week. His face, his hair and his biceps were on point. And I don't say this stuff about BD but he looked good and I need to give credit where credit is due. He seemed to be in a very good place and acted like it. I was happy for him.

Quoting limited to 4 levels deep
The post doesn't say or even imply that they've said that. Fwiw, I think they've both wanted to leave for a while. I don't think Ali's decision is it all tied up in James', but I do bet James' is tied into hers. But you're not going to find a quote on that, because it's my opinion. And yeah, I think that would be dumb on his part, but it's not like I have a very high opinion of these people.
LOL, do not want to start any rumor here but some have said that EJ is hung up on Sami, maybe JS is hung up on Ali? Mean no harm :)
I doubt they are more than friends but I do find it a little strange that AS real life husband doesn´t have a problem with him touching her boobs and how close they are. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HmtkIJRZPSw Lol, how could he have a problem with that? :D She's an actor.

To me a leading couple, should be a bit older than belle and Shawn.....there are many men left in the age range that I would like to see a leading man, I just don't think any of them have the charisma , or the it Hifactor, that can bring in the audience.
Lucas, Rafe, Daniel, Brady left are good ages for leading men, but they lack the special it factor that gets people talking. It's easy to see the difference, when James is on you get 20+ pages of postings, the other less then 10. Many comments are the show is boring. Because none of these guys, in my opinion, bring the spark.. I hope days has some.announcements coming soon...for male leads.
I'd be happier then a little clam if they got Peter Reckell and Stephen N, back as leads....they had it.

Philip can be flawed, layered and gray. He is far from perfect. And with EJ leaving, I think now would be a great time for him to return. Yeah.... but to me, it was never in a good way. I actually only liked Kyle Brandt's Philip. JKJ's Philip especially was always to me just so sleazy and yet, at the same time someone with no real reason for that behaviour. It's sort of the same as with Theresa now. There is no real reason for anything that she does or that she is right now. Just not interesting to me. Not to say there would have been such things for EJ, necessarily either, but I don't know, I can't really even explain it that's just the way I feel. And even though I liked Philip played by KB, I couldn't stand the Belle and Philip thing. There were just so many things wrong with everything about that.

I wish Peter would come back but it was said in SOD that he would only come back to to wrap up his storyline. He wants no long term commitment to the show.

I think JKJ's 'Phillip' and MM's 'Belle' were anything but puppy love. That love scene above the Brady Pub was hawt. I don't think JKJ would come back, atleast while GT is there but they'd do well to try and get JKJ back and MM's 'Belle'. Shawn was a screw up and Chloe has a dark streak. I don't think any of them were flawless or in puppy love type relationships as adults. I think Days would have been in a better place if they'd kept them around and capitalized on the quad that HS set up.
I really don't want to see CW get a chance to write Philip again, but he would be the perfect character to fill EJ's role in Salem.
