We saw it in the Daniel/Chloe/Lucas/Kate story, too.
and that would have been great if he hadn't left a naked Chloe to run and help Sami at the police station, or if we didn't get Chloe wondering why he was fine moving Sami into the cabin without consulting her first. Or he didn't seem to care that she went out of town for a gig and he could have gone with her but decided not to. Even Chloe wasn't convinced early on that he cared that much about her, considering her endless talks with Nicole about how Lucas couldn't/wouldn't get over Sami ever.
So yeah, it would have been fabulous if it didn't start off that way....oh and if Lucloe had chemistry....that too might have helped but storyline wise, it sucked for them from the get go as he was more concerned about his ex wife and helping her over his girlfriend and what she wanted, desired or needed....that is what I"m saying....
Same thing with Sheryl....wish that Lucas would have gone on and told Jordan at least what his mom was up to after Kate screwed him out of a life with Sheryl.
That was just the very beginning of the story, though. Soon Sami was off daydreaming about EJ and playing house with Rafe in a completely different story, and Kate and Daniel were brought in. And danloe's chemistry totally overtook luloe's.
I just wish the story wouldn't have started that way to begin with....one thing is having Chloe think that he can't get over Sami....another thing is having him demonstrate it.....I just don't think that is a good way to start the story off for that pairing...
In contrast, I think the story they set out to do with Sheryl and Lucas was better written in that aspect...he wasn't hung up over Sami...he had time to move on and did.....he was into Sheryl, she was into him....

That story had a lot of issues. I don't really think the Sami portion was one of them, though. Lucas didn't want to break up with Sami and go to prison, so it would have been a little odd if he wasn't drawn to her after his release, even if he did think she loved EJ.
The real problem with lucloe (besides the lack of chemistry, which was a huge one) was the lack of build up before the sex, engagement etc. To be completely honest, I probably wouldn't have enjoyed it no matter what, but Days might have been able to have something if they'd done more with lucloe as friends, first, with her helping him get over Sami and him helping her get over Philip. And once people cared about them and they had a connection of their own, maybe they would have been strong enough to be a viable alternative in a triangle with Philip, or a quad with Morgan. At which point, Kate could have been added to the story. And it would have been more in character for her to be pissed about a woman coming between her sons again, than overreacting partially because the man she broke up with after a three hour long relationship wasn't there waiting for her when she changed her mind. Man that sounds really familiar.
I've been gleefully fast-forwarding almost everything connected to the Jordan story ( :wub2: you, DVR), so I can't comment on Lucas/Sheryl.
Even though I'm sad over losing JS, I do hope Days gives BD a chance to shine like he deserves. He's a talented actor that should have never been on the backburner to begin with.
Seems like Lucas is better off as someone's sidekick, either Sami or Kate. I guess now will be sink or swim for BD.
Hardly. I would love if the upcoming vacancies meant more air-time for existing and less-oft-used characters like Lucas, the thought of it makes me happy and I don't disparage BD's talents like others might....but I doubt the show will give him the opportunity. I doubt there will be high-stakes stories or chances for Lucas. We'll see if he's given more to do I suppose...I'd welcome anything.
That was what I wanted to say but sometimes I am not that good at expressing myself it just seems to come out the wrong way.
Don't worry, you express yourself just fine. The topic of actors' boundaries is interesting.
Maybe because I have personal problems that makes me depressed I seem to also gey depressed over my posts and feel that they comes out the wrong way. Saying JS is a Ejami fanboy seems to make me feel quilty like I'm doing something wrong even though I happen to believe it's the truth and I have mostly mentioned it trying to defend Ejami or because it given me doubts about Ejole. Anyway I felt I needed to say that.

Who was it? Greg Meng? in Vancouver seemed a bit at a loss on what to do with Lucas.

Meh, well that's nothing new. This has always seemed (except for a few-year-stretches) to be the case for inexplicable reasons.
So true. Apparently some folks watched a show where Lucas didn't keep accusing Sami of being drawn to EJ and where Sami didn't argue with herself about loving EJ way back in 2007. I wonder what happened in the alternate version of the episode where Sami was ordered to shoot the man she loved the least and she shut her eyes before pulling the trigger, because she couldn't choose, outright? She ended up shooting Lucas in the one I saw, which was hilarious.
Anyway, if Days knew last year that JS wasn't signing, they were crazy to let SD go. Vargas would have easily filled the role of a grey leading character.

Time will tell.....
Which doesn't even make sense. There are SO many storyline options for Lucas. He's an alcoholic. He has a history with Nicole (and Eric!) that can be played upon after the rape evidence is revealed (I would LOVE to see some jealous Eric over some Lucas/Nicole interaction). And when they share scenes together, I actually think Lucas has more chemistry with Jordan than Rafe does.
Instead, we get boring newbies like Ben, the current 4th love interest for Abigail in the last year.

I loved Lush's scenes. Hopefully after AS leaves, they'll invite JH back to revisit them. Maybe with a baby in tow. Sheryl was more interesting in her few scenes than Jordan. I'm looking forward to more screentime for BD. He is a good actor and deserves more than short scenes with Will and Jen.

I remember the scene in the rectory with Lucas and Nicole a couple months back. I don't think Eric will be jealous of their interaction. They were not exactly nice to each other. :)
I agree that CS has more chemistry with BD than GG.

Here's a clip of Nicole strangling Lucas in 2002:
Spoiler: click to toggle
They should continue to have Jordan and Lucas interact...I saw more spark from these 3 scenes than I've seen from months of Rafe and Jordan.

Greg Meng is an irrelevant figurehead that they send on tours to keep occupied. I'm pretty sure he has less than no say in what goes on with the show.
I wouldn't hold your breath on Lucas getting more storytime. I think he'll remain with the show in a recurring capacity to help prop up characters like Kate and Will. But I don't expect an actual story.
There are characters/actors that the producers seem to either take to, or seem to think aren't viable. For the current Days team, they clearly don't see much use in characters like Lucas or John. They clearly didn't get Jack. They didn't seem to like Tony given the way they killed him off a few years ago (basically the same regime then as now if I'm not mistaken, although I wish they would change their minds and bring him back, especially now) with a stake through the Count's heart. Same with Carrie and Austin, who were unceremoniously dumped.
They *LOVE* characters like Chloe and Melanie, though, and it wouldn't surprise me to see them make a play for one or both actresses to return given the hole in the canvas that will be left by Sami and EJ.
I kind of wish this could mean the DiMeras would fade off into obscurity. Our luck they will try to groom Chad into the next DiMera and Kristen and Stefano will continue to pop up. Sigh.

Have to agree with this. I don't think that just because AS and JS are leaving, it would mean it would "free up" more time for characters who haven't had it in recent years. I mean, if tptb had wanted to write front-burner storylines for characters like Lucas, Kayla, Hope, Marlena, Justin and Adrienne, they would have done it multiple times over already. It's not like these characters have been in a line waiting for their turn and have not been written for just because there's "not enough room". These characters haven't been written for because that isn't what tptb have wanted. They're not going to suddenly start to write for them now just because some actors are leaving. Much more likely is that they are looking for to replace the leaving characters, and are looking for ones who are similar or capable of being similar to the people leaving.
