I don't understand this insistence that every woman on this show has to have a child. It's like she's nothing without a baby. Why can't Nicole be content without a baby. She can also adopt a child if she desperately wants one. She was willing to steal one so biology is not that important to her.

And Abigail, why would anyone wants to saddle Abigail with EJ's baby, as a reminder for when she was nothing but an ego boost to EJ? How is this empowering her?
She wouldn't be able to adopt because of her criminal record.

It's because she wants it so badly.

I think she'd be fine with adopting as well but as has been covered on the show she's not exactly prospective adoptive parent material.

Single Mother, with a criminal record its hard enough to adopt without that going against you.

Well Sami had an unwed mother baby,a rape baby, and a baby she wanted to conceal from its father, none of which was planned/happily conceived.Gabi had a baby she orignally wanted to abort because she was unmarried and the father was in love with someone else.again not happily conceived. Many objected to Gabi getting pregnant.
Now quite a few posters are happy Nick is dead becase he dared to attempt to separate said baby from her father. It would be wonderful to have Nicole, who has yearned to be a mother and would be happy to have a child actually get to give birth to a living breathing child.I am not looking for Abby to be empowered,I want what I consider to be an interesting story for her showing that decisions have consequences and providing her wiith obstacles to over come in her relationships with her family and friends, her romantic relationships, and advancing her career.I don't see Abby getting together with Ben so Chad can come back to Salem and we get the same sort of triangle we just had with Abby,Cameron, and Chad to be empowering or interesting. If KM is going to be in Salem until her contract ends, she needs something to do other than two guys vying for her attention so everyone can criticize her for being just like Jennifer with Jack and Dan.

Didn't the governor commute her sentence and expunge her record when she got out of prison?

When was the last time the Days writers actually penned an exciting career/ adventure for any character? I have been watching regularly since 2009 and I haven't seen one. Can you( or any other poster) refresh my memory concerning the last character to have an exciting career/adventure on Days?

Brady could get Nicole a baby, he should have a credit with that black market adoption agency since he never got the baby he bought for Kristen.

The last "adventure" story I remember was in 2007 and it was awful. Exciting careers hasn't been a Days thing in decades...at least. I mean...unless you count the Pawn/Gina story a couple of years ago, LMAO.

Well, there was the Garden of Eden storyline, if you want to call that an "exciting adventure". More recently, John and Hope's trip to Alamainia to get a divorce is the first thing that comes to mind. Whether any particular adventure qualifies as an "exciting" one is debatable, but I generally think of "adventures" as storylines that take the characters involved out of Salem. Abby and Chad's trip to Chicago to figure out what Cameron was hiding from them was what I might call an "adventure", but it was a purely fluffy one.

Oh, and a more notable and obvious recent example would be the trip to Ireland at the height of the Santo and Colleen, Brady versus DiMera storyline.

As for careers?

Rafe and Carrie's Cat Rescuing Services?

(Seriously, though...some characters have careers on the show right now, obviously, but I suspect that nananana7 was thinking of something more along the lines of Jack and Jennifer's work as journalists back in the 90s, where that sort of thing was followed as a storyline of its own instead of just being pulled out when it served the purposes of a story, like the doctors, police detectives, and lawyers' careers are treated these days. Technically, we did follow Rafe and Carrie's journey to establish their own successful business together, but that was more about putting them together than anything else, really.)

When year was the Garden of Eden? I had noted the Hope/John trip but deleted it before posting because even though I didn't mind it,it was not what I would call exciting and a lot of posters actually ridiculed the story line so I eliminated it as being exciting. The Santo/Colleen "story" was so horrendously bad to me,I only watched it for a day or two because the fake accents and bad acting got on my nerves so bad. This was the only time period of Days I actively avoided so I would hesitate to label it exciting. For
me:vomit inducing yes,exciting no.

Personally, I think this is rooted in the longevity of soaps. When a character has a baby now, we often come up with all kinds of fanwanked fanfics about what their kids could be like and what they'll be up to and how their parents' relationships will affect other things they do.

Since the 90s was fourteen years ago.I am not holding my breath for Abby getting an empowering exciting career/adventure.Rafe and Carrie as partners was not an exciting career or exciting adventure regardless of its purpose.Again not holding my breath for anyone to get an exciting career/adventure.Gabi was a model. They made that dull. The spa was dull. The last semi exciting career storyline was when EJ was running for mayor and Nicole was helping him,and that was only tolerable because they made a good team.

You don't think the writers could pen an interesting storyline for EJ/Abby baby involving EJ/Abby/Sami short term and long term Jennifer,JJ,Lucas,Will,Sonny,Adrienne,
Justin,Hope,Maggie,Kristin,Stefano,Chad,Ben?

I think in Nicole's case it might just be as simple as she has been shown to want a baby, and has suffered tragedy trying to bring a child to term. So the fact the character desires a baby has been established, and her fans might just wish she be able to have what would make her happy (whatever makes her happy). If Nicole had never, ever shown interest in being a mother and there were a cabal of people insisting she have one or deciding she must secretly want one, I would agree with your point a little more completely. I am not sure the issue or question is that she can't be content without a baby....some might view tragedies she has suffered as a wrong to be remedied in a way. I don't even LOVE Nicole and I wish this her for her, just as I would wish her happiness in love or in career.

ETA: I am not forgetting the crimes she has committed trying to get herself a baby...more proof that she really, really wants one maybe, lol.

When year was the Garden of Eden?
It started in 1999. But don't get me wrong -- I wasn't necessarily saying that it was a good storyline. In fact, many would probably call it the worst storyline in the show's history, although I'm not sure if I would be able to go that far -- I'd have to think about it for a while, but I digress.

If you're asking for an example of an adventure that most people actually liked, the first thing that people will usually mention is the Cruise of Deception storyline from 1990. Another that would likely be mentioned is the Aremid storyline from 1995-1996.

Am I sensing a potential new countdown poll for when Days goes dark later this month, perhaps?
