I don't understand this insistence that every woman on this show has to have a child. It's like she's nothing without a baby. Why can't Nicole be content without a baby. She can also adopt a child if she desperately wants one. She was willing to steal one so biology is not that important to her.
And Abigail, why would anyone wants to saddle Abigail with EJ's baby, as a reminder for when she was nothing but an ego boost to EJ? How is this empowering her?
Beautifully said Kaha.
Personally, I think this is rooted in the longevity of soaps. When a character has a baby now, we often come up with all kinds of fanwanked fanfics about what their kids could be like and what they'll be up to and how their parents' relationships will affect other things they do.
You don't think the writers could pen an interesting storyline for EJ/Abby baby involving EJ/Abby/Sami short term and long term Jennifer,JJ,Lucas,Will,Sonny,Adrienne, Justin,Hope,Maggie,Kristin,Stefano,Chad,Ben? Exactly.

Quoting limited to 4 levels deepshe needs something to do other than two guys vying for her attention"
Why does it have to be pregnancy? Abby could have an exciting career. She could have adventures.
When was the last time the Days writers actually penned an exciting adventure for any character? I have been watching regularly since 2009 and I haven't seen one. Can you( or any other poster) refresh my memory concerning the last character to have an exciting adventure on Days?
Well, there was the Garden of Eden storyline, if you want to call that an "exciting adventure". More recently, John and Hope's trip to Alamainia to get a divorce is the first thing that comes to mind. Whether any particular adventure qualifies as an "exciting" one is debatable, but I generally think of "adventures" as storylines that take the characters involved out of Salem. Abby and Chad's trip to Chicago to figure out what Cameron was hiding from them was what I might call an "adventure", but it was a purely fluffy one. Oh, and a more notable and obvious recent example would be the trip to Ireland at the height of the Santo and Colleen, Brady versus DiMera storyline. When year was the Garden of Eden? I had noted the Hope/John trip but deleted it before posting because even though I didn't mind it,it was not what I would call exciting and a lot of posters actually ridiculed the story line so I eliminated it as being exciting. The Santo/Colleen "story" was so horrendously bad to me,I only watched it for a day or two because the fake accents and bad acting got on my nerves so bad. This was the only time period of Days I actively avoided so I would hesitate to label it exciting. For me:vomit inducing yes, exciting no. ughhhhhhhhh BeeBee.....don't remind us of that horror :)

It's because she wants it so badly. I think she'd be fine with adopting as well but as has been covered on the show she's not exactly prospective adoptive parent material. Single Mother, with a criminal record its hard enough to adopt without that going against you.
Didn't the governor commute her sentence and expunge her record when she got out of prison? I think he did, but if I remember correctly, it sounded like it was a high profile case in Salem and she was recognized as a baby snatcher. I can't imagine anyone giving her a baby based on reputation.

It might be interesting for Nicole to let go of the baby fantasy and go on a journey of self discovery where she learns to finally love herself for who she is, and decide that a baby, while joyous, is not necessary for her happiness or self worth.
I don't think it's a huge endorsement to say that she'll be a better parent than all those who have children since I think they're all terrible parents (maybe Jennifer is not).
UGH! Did someone mention Alamania. Stupidest thing ever. I remember making endless fun of Alamania at snicks' liveblogg at TheBacklot when there wasn't enough WilSon.

ughhhhhhhhh BeeBee.....don't remind us of that horror :) The digression started because I said I wanted a story with an EJ/Abby baby at which time nananana7,not I,suggested that the writers could write an exciting career or an exciting adventure for Abby without a baby.Given that no one has been able to cite an exciting career/adventure since the 1990s,I say give Abby the baby so we don't have a repeat of Abby deciding between Ben and Chad causing the character to be criticized for being unable to decide between the two after Chad decides to come between Ben and Abby which we just saw with Abby,Chad, and Cameron.

Totally. It shouldn't be an impediment because it was expunged, but this is Nicole. The good folks of Salem would show up with pitchforks in protest if she tried to adopt.
Brady and Kristen had power on their sides. No one would say no to them, but Nicole doesn't have that much clout.

I suspect that nananana7 was thinking of something more along the lines of Jack and Jennifer's work as journalists back in the 90s, where that sort of thing was followed as a storyline of its own instead of just being pulled out when it served the purposes of a story, like the doctors, police detectives, and lawyers' careers are treated these days.
Member "Will&Sonny" is correct -- that is exactly the sort of thing I was thinking of.

I understand what you are saying but if they have not done it since 1998-1999 with Jack and Jennifer,it is not likely they would write that sort of story for Abby in 2014 oe 2015.I have given up on exciting career/adventure( exciting anything),I just want something that will hold my attention and/or not make me want to vomit.

Abby didn't have sex with EJ because she wanted a relationship with him she just wanted to have an affair with him.
Anyway whether Abby/Chad/Ben triangel will be diiferent than the Abby/ Chad/Cameron triangel depends on if new Ben and Chad has more personality than Cameron.
Anyway I think it's unsual to a have a woman pregnant on a soap when she doesn't have a future with him.
Which is why Nicole getting to keep EJ's baby would have been marvelously refreshing.
I think people would have seen that as Ejole having a future not that I think killing off DR was the right way to say they didn't have one.
Well it would have been a lovely surprise for everyone when they didnt. Every one expecting Nicole and EJ to have some massive custody battle and it just never happening.
I thought a custody battle was likely to happen at first since Ejole wasnīt at best of terms at the time, and that they would do Ejami for a year but then they would have had Ejole get back together. There are people who have wanted Ejole back together so everyone wouldnīt been happy if they didnīt. Anyway since Ejole been married and share a history I just donīt think them qualifies as two people having a baby that clearly donīt have a future together. It still a small chance of Ejole getting back together if JS were to come back.

I am sure Nicole isn't going to do anything that crazy. She probably just tries to get Eric out of town
Since it's an outrageous lie,she could tell Eric she s dying and wants to go live with him on a desserted island. Yea, I mean, what on earth could even *qualify* for an "outrageous lie", I mean, pregnancy would have been one but if they only have sex on the day before or so... I don't see what else there could be unless she tells him she's dying lolololol

Let's see...we need a great prime-time show to snatch her up. It's the Save Ari campaign.
One that I wouldn't mind watching.
Put her on NCIS. A little drama, a little snark, and she can smack Jethro in the head every once in a while. You know, I could so see her as a policewoman/ agent....

I think in the case of Nicole its that she wants a child so badly. I do think she would be a better mother then most if not all of the women who already have children on the show. To me, with Nicole, it's not about how she would possibly be a better mother than some of the others, I mean, she probably would be, but let's face it, soap mothers are usually pretty much on the same level, or if someone is better than someone else, it's just usually because the show says so, I mean we really don't have much proof of that. However, to me, why Nicole deserves a child, is because her children have been wrongfully taken from her. She has *earned* the right to have her own child. And I remember when she was having DR, I was almost a hundred percent certain that she would end up having that child. The actual idea that she could not have that child never even entered my mind. To up until last year or somewhere around that I still kept thinking that she could definitely get her baby back somehow, that Stefano had arranged for it to be taken, etc. I just still cannot believe it. I mean, there was no way they were going to take away a baby that could have and would have driven so much story on the show, I mean, EJ and her has just divorced, and both of them were in other orbits. Plus it would have been classic soap to have EJ have children with two separate women and solidified his bond to both forever, also meaning that they would forever in each other's orbits. That's like soap 101, and has been done with every soap nearly, I mean B&B with Eric, Stephanie and Brooke, Y&R with Victor, Nikki and Ashley, on GH with Sonny, Alexis, Olivia and Carly. I thought for one hundred percent certainty it would happen. But no.... and as it was, it became obvious and quite quick that they wouldn't even let Nicole and him even interact anymore....... side-eye.....

Not to get off the subject here, but does anyone else get the feeling that AS is only leaving so that she can have a big return down the road with much fanfare and ado? Every interview with everyone on the show has mentioned that her exit is being written in such a way that she can return whenever she wants. I give her a year, tops.
