Maggie, Julie, Hope, and even Gabi are doing some nice stuff here. Bonuses to Gabi if she's crying and she ends up being the killer.
I love the emotional beats they're playing here. The guy that people hated still has people who loved him. It's not all black and white. At the risk of getting reamed, I'm really sorry there are some who aren't enjoying this.
This is one of the better episodes in a while, in my viewpoint, just because of the emotional beats and showing both sides of the issue. Say what you will about Nick, he's from a tight family who's been through a lot of crap in the past 50 years, and they don't sell out on their own. And that is why the Hortons should still be the premiere family. You have a black sheep, you're going to have family members who are still going to think the best and hope for the best, no matter what.
And THAT is where Susan Seaforth Hayes is kicking major ass today.

Julie: Vultures. :P
Truer words were never spoken. That is what they reminded me of standing around pretending to be concerned when all they wanted was to make sure Nick was good and dead so their sordid secrets were never exposed. Custody agreement my ass!
Or you know, the people who he terrorized and threatened for months wanted to make sure he was dead. How dare they not be clairvoyant and not know about his tearful confession to Marlena?
Please. They just want to keep their secrets secret.
They also be genuinely sad for Nick, well except Kate and EJami. And I think even Sami is sad and feeling guilty.

But they don't want him dead because he terrorized them, they want him dead because he's got proof of their crimes.
If Gabi killed him, she has good reasons to want him dead but at least she's grieving and doesn't look like she's enjoying this.

Maggie/Julie leave Gabi alone with Nick's body & she has a Nick/Gabi flashback montage. Well placed & well done!

STOP IT LADIES!!! You're ripping my heart out, and I have two meetings to go to. I can't let my mascara run.......
Gabi flashbacks. If they're playing that for the murderer shocker....wow.
You know, they're giving Nick a great send-off.

That's if his confession to Marlena would have lasted into the next day anyway. It's everyone's fault, but Nick. He has now achieved sainthood.

Feeling guilty because her daughter witnessing a murder wasn't part of her plan.

of course, you know Nick only died because Daniel wasn't there to save him with a coffee spoon & a pair of tweezers...

Julie so hard on poor Abigail! Why does she think the little fight she witnessed disqualifies Abby from being sad about her cousin's death. Julie is so OTT with her accusations.
I'm not really understanding it either but I guess it's because of her grief.

It's so obvious Gabi did it from the way these scenes are playing out. CB is really doing a good job in her scenes.

EJ and Sami had no place in showing up at the hospital.

They also probably want to live their lives in peace free from blackmail and threats. Nick got to do it. Shame on them.

I'll ask again..........WHY would the writers add that part if it wasn't meant to show some form of sincerity, unless it's part of the clue later?
We'll never know. And I doubt that it will ever be resolved, because there are going to be those dummies like me who are hoping they wrote this in for an emotional punch.
If he was just some other nutjob, I doubt this episode would have been written as it was. Who knows?

But if that had happened, we would have another interesting story. You know Daniel's history with his patients..........

Yes, because Nick was an innocent bystander who just came by some incriminating evidence and these hardened criminals all wanted him dead because he knew the truth about their criminal activities.
