I can't think of a single "big name" from Days. I wouldn't even call Shirley Jones that. Or that guest stint guy LK minced and cooed over like a desperately pathetic old woman who still tries to act young and sexy. Joe Someone?

Seems like I read both Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio had brief soap opera scenes. I'd call those big names.

I think you're confused. They aren't talking about big names in entertainment, they mean important or legendary characters and actors that have previously appeared on the show, hence the word "comebacks". Like blueskies suggested, Susan Flannery as Laura Horton is a good example. Another was when Eileen came back after 14 years.

So SOD has in the "Stuff we know and shouldn't tell you",

(1) This actress is feeling more settled in her role, but wishes the actor playing her TV dad could remember her name (I don't think this is Days-related)

(2) This show is considering some big-name comebacks

I'm SO hoping the latter is Days-related! B/c lord knows they are gonna need people come next Dec.
One good things about there being so few soaps left is that these blind items are becoming more easy to guess. I mean, the first one almost screams Ashlyn Pearce.

The second one? It sounds like something Cartini would do, but GH has brought back quite a few big names lately, so more big-name comebacks would hardly be shocking. All big names of Y&R are still on the show, so that can be ruled out, I guess. So, what's left really is either B&B or DOOL. DOOL has more than a few big names that would be welcome on the canvas and even B&B has some they could bring back. I'm quite interested in that second one.

Id argue the second tidbit is DOOL considering their 50th anniversary year is next year, which they will startfilming in less than two months. I could see Christie Clark, Stephen Nichols, Charles Shaughnessy, Patsy Pease all coming back for this event. Though they have all returned in the last decade, they would all be news worthy again should they return. I could see story arc returns (short term contracts)

DOOL should really pull out all the stops for their 50th. They have plenty of room now with Sweeney and Scott leaving.

With both AS & JS gone, there should be quite a bit of money available to bring in some "big names" even if only for those 18-week arcs that KC was talking about.

Hahaha! OK, then I'd agree a big name comeback would be Stephen Nichols.

Isn't there a rumor going around that VM might reprise her role as Brenda on GH. If anything that blind item seems to be about GH.....

I don't think Days/Corday would consider SF's Laura Horton to be a big name anymore. They'd be inclined to think nobody who watches now would know who the heck she is.

Would Matthew Ashford be considered a big name? I know it seems like he is definitely dead, but you never know.
I know that 'big name' doesn't imply anything about how long the person has been gone, but for whatever reason I just don't feel like the show would think that anyone who has left that recently is a big name.
I hope they aren't talking about Lisa Rinna. lol

But we don't know that. Big names could mean as in the actor or as in the character. Like people playing Belle, Shawn etc. could be considered big names as far as the characters but not as actors. And someone like Lisa Rinna or Eric Winter or Jensen Ackles would be a big name,

I so hope it would be Eric Winter :P :P Loved him as Rex, and it would fit too because Sami will soon be gone and they would need more Bradys.

Laura Horton appeared at Alice's funeral and people knew who she was. Seeing Susan Flannery in the role might be jarring at first, but she's big enough of a name in the industry for people to recognize her. With that said, Susan Flannery retired from acting a couple fo years ago, so I don't think she'd return to Days.

But that wouldn't make sense, why would Ashlyn now feel more "settled" into the role, when she was wonderful in it from the get-go. No I think this is more likely Hunter Haley King from Y&R who keeps on changing her firstname so it's no wonder nobody knows what it is lol.

I think the 2 has to be about DAYS, B&B has would really have no reason to bring back any names from the past. They are doing well and the cast is quite full and tight.

I wouldn't want SF back as Laura... to me, that would just seem weird especially after JLB. Plus too much time has passed, I couldn't picture her as Laura anymore....

Id argue Belle (Martha Madison) and Shawn (Jason Cook) would be considered big name comebacks. Im hoping for Christie Clark personally. I love Carrie and her and feel she should definitely be on this show.

Laura Horton played by Jaime Lyn Bauer came back for Alice's funeral? If so, then sure the audience would knw who she was. She was a major character all through the 90s. Laura Horton played by SF was off screen for a much longer time. (I don't know what years she was on).

I would love to see Laura back (Though Id prefer JLB only because that's the only one I know, from the Kristen/Peter Blake days). On that note... PETER BLAKE, even if he's recast. Aunt Viv would be great but I dunno that she would. Belle and Shawn. I wish Bo, even just for him to say... something, end it. Unless he came back full time, which I doubt.

But I'm sorry, the top of my list, Tony and Jack. They've been dead so many times, honestly IMO, they could just walk back in town with no explination, and Id be fine with it.

Edit: AND, I would LOVE for Tony and Kristen to be in the same room. That would be awkward for Kristen and Tony would be like "???"

I don't think Corday would bring back jason brooks with MR in the cast. Which kind of sucks in a lot of ways.
