Gotta say I really hope there's some sort of a big event coming down the pike still on this sweeps........... otherwise I don't see what they can do to save it or even have it begin to compare with last year....
I personally don't think that sweeps is a competition between years. And to be honest, I can't even remember what was going on during last May's sweeps weeks. I remember what happened during November sweeps, but not a clue about May.
Do I think that this year's Fetch-centered sweeps were overly exciting to watch? No. But was the show at least trying to create drama? Yes. Would it have been more exciting if the story were told with other characters? Yes. Have Friday & Monday's episodes surrounding Nick's murder been sweeps-worthy? Definitely.
This year's sweeps don't really need saving. I think that the stories themselves were decent. Where they fell short: what characters were central, the performances of the actors, & the week-long gap between the dramatic climaxes of the two main sweeps stories.
Last year's sweeps in May was Vargas getting out of prison and Jensen kidnapping Nick and Gabby and Will and Sonny rescuing them & Will got shot & Gabby had the baby. All exciting stuff to me.

That we see. When JJ came home from England, he was playing video games on the tv. So the Horton house has a tv. The Dimera mansion had a tv when Johnny went missing, too. :)

The Kiriakis Mansion is located out by the lake as is the DiMera Mansion. The old Chandler Mansion (i.e. the original DiMera Mansion i.e. "Marshall Manor") is supposedly very close to the Kiriakis Mansion (either next door or across the street, I forget which). Also, Doug's Place on the Lake is nearby, as well, since there was a secret tunnel connecting the Chandler/DiMera mansion to Doug's Place. Also, on the other side of the lake, was the old Anderson Lakehouse (later owned by Mickey & Maggie). I believe Chris Kositchek's house/cabin and Don's carriage house were located out that way, too.

What happened to Maggie's old house? I think last time we saw it was when Will went all emotional and cleared the table. I am assuming Doug and Julie still live there when they're in town, or did they move to Florida?

Well. Today will keep me from checking in any other day this week. Where to start. Well, first of all, the dialogue was atrocious, and the director was asleep. I don't think any character stayed consistent from one scene to the next.

It really pisses me off that Abby told Jen and JJ offscreen. But don't worry. Daniel, Eric, Brady, and Theresa all heard onscreen.

I really liked the way KM played about half of her scenes today. Some of them made her seem really guilty, but she was talking to the wrong people for that to matter. I'm a little annoyed, though, at her crap about Nick being someone different. It's not a complete lie, and I buy that she's upset about the custody thing, but it's pretty obvious that she's mostly upset about that whore thing. So now she can blame EJ AND Nick for that. :eyeroll: I guess in a way she really does think she's guilty because she thinks EJ hired the hitman for her? IDK. IDC.

What bad news does Sami have to tell Johnny and Sydney? That some guy that their siblings are related to, but that they don't even know has died? Sweeney was once again horrible, and actually Sami had some of the worst dialogue, IMO.

I have a hard time coming up with things to say about Daniel/Nicole/Eric. It's not good. And I don't like how Ari plays it anymore.

And ugh to almost all of Marlena's stuff. The scenes with Sami were just weird. The second was better than the first, but I couldn't even tell if it was the writing or Deidre or both. I'm going to go with both, because I think if Deidre had changed her tone a bit some of it would have been better. But ugh.

And Maggie hasn't been like a second mom to Nick since he came back. How many surrogate moms did that guy need? I guess at least one more.

I don't like one single thing about Theresa, and I don't even understand why she and her Minnie Mouse voice are supposed to be main characters. Also, it's ridiculous that the main person in her orbit is a recurring extra.

JJ and Paige's dialogue was also terrible. It POSSIBLY could have been cutesy awkward, but they didn't play it that way at all. So it was just bad. And now Paige totally has a girl crush on Jennifer to match her true love crush on Daniel.

Bo & Hope's house was last scene when Hope, John, & Marlena accompanied Bo home after his coma. Bope made out on the couch while someone watched, and then they headed off to the safehouse. I think we may have seen Hope's bedroom (limbo) or Ciara's bedroom (limbo) since then, but that's it. We've gotten Hope & Ciara having private conversations on the HTS couches (before the set was made smaller), the coffee shop (that is no more), the pub, the HTS cafe, Club TBD, etc. Pretty much any public set. I REALLY hope that once Hope & Aiden start going out, we'll see the Bope house again. It would make sense since Aiden seems like the type of guy who would walk his date home at the end of the evening.
I really would like to see Hope and Ciara at their house having these private convos. I want to see Hope as a working mom rushing around in the morning and trying to get Ciara to hurry up. I am just tired of this cheap ass show making Hope and Ciara homeless. If they want to save money they could have Jennifer convincing Hope to move to the HH with them now that Bo is MIA.
I agree with you completely. When Hope didn't really have a story, I kinda let it slide. But now that she's got a story of her own (yes, Haiden getting to know each other and planning the gala is technically a story) and she's part of the Nick's murder storyline (and quite a big part of it at the moment), it would be nice to see her living quarters (whatever they may be). I really don't want to see Hope needing a break from the squad room and ending up at the pub with all those classified/confidential case files sprawled out on a table at either the pub or Club TBD. It would make much more sense to see Hope working in the living room with those files laid out on the coffee table and having Ciara rush in asking about something (it doesn't really matter what), or having Aiden knock on the door because they were supposed to be working on details for the gala over an hour ago & she never showed at their meeting place.
I also miss the Salem PD set. It would be good to see Hope, Rafe, and Roman at work. Lately, they've been using the same set for the police department that they use for the courtroom. I'd be curious to know when the last time they used this set. It had to be within the last couple years because I've seen a bunch of clips with EJ and Rafe there.

Poor Gabi, Will and Sonny! No one is consoling them. And Will and Sonny are giving each other side eye of screen. How sad!

I wonder if Sonny returned the murder weapon to Victor's volt? Why aren't these two geniuses thinking about implicating Victor in this murder?

I can always count on you for some REALLLLY good Sami snark. She was horrible today. But I agree with earlier posters that Sami at least LOOKED much better, because her clothes fit her today! And I think the blouse, while not my fave print, was flattering/slimming.

I also thought that about Maggie allegedly being like a "surrogate mother" to Nick. Emmm, no.

I really liked everything KM did today. I bought her grief, guilt, anger, all of that. As far as Abby, I didn't love her saying that Nick "used" her over and over again in re: Aiden. But as far as blaming him, do you mean for the affair coming to light? Or for the affair happening? I didn't get that sense from her....but I agree it was his taunting her over Ejabby affair, plus the custody business, plus Gabi's terrified refusal to say anything to Nick that made Abby see him in a vastly different light. I dunno, if my once-liked cousin calls me a whore, I might look at him differently. I do agree, however, that her changed view of him is sudden and mostly due to the Ejabby stuff. I think that's what makes her response to his death interesting though.....she either loved or was simply ok with him until the day he died. What does she do with those feelings and that anger now? That's kind of why I actually liked her scene with Jennifer today. I do think she thinks EJ hired a hit-man, maybe not FOR HER, but to take care of the Nick photo problem....which he basically did.

She should stop saying Nick used her though.

Way too much Daniel today in an episode that could have easily contained no Daniel. I guess that is every episode though.

I guess they want us to know she is super guilt-ridden and frazzled?

I'm pretty sure there's a TV at the pub. I remember Mayor Dimera's pledge after the safehouse explosion.

other than that try Vivian's sarcophagus. (although I think that was a closed circuit system).

With grandma Caroline at Gabi's old room. It came up in a conversation between him and Marlena after he left the priesthood and Marlena offered him a place to stay and he said that he wanted to keep an eye on his grandmother.

There was a closed-circuit TV in the room in the Dimera cellar where Marlena was held captive.

What happened to Maggie's old house? I think last time we saw it was when Will went all emotional and cleared the table. I am assuming Doug and Julie still live there when they're in town, or did they move to Florida?
I'll be all "setted" out later this year, phew!

Working on the Set List Database now that the Daily Cast/Set lists are all done. I've finished all of 1965-1967, doing 1968 now (it's quicker than I thought it would be, although the 1965-1974 stuff were only half hours, so they'll go quicker than 1985-2014). Eventually will have a list of EVERY set Days has ever used (and their debut and last airdates, and episode rankings of course), yay!!

It's nice I'm getting all this done just in time for the show's 50th anniversary next year!

I forgot to mention my two biggest issues with today's episode.

Nicole is totally unrootable. Of all the crazy and terrible things Nicole has done since returning to Salem, she is for the first time, in my eyes, unrootable. When she miscarried her baby, faked a pregnancy, stole Sami's baby, accused Jennifer of killing her second baby... She was rootable! Something about the way Ari plays every beat of a story makes Nicole look like the person who should come out on top - no matter who she's opposing. However, there is something seriously wrong with this story. It's not even the fact that Nicole destroyed the evidence, because that's totally where I thought the story was headed and actually liked the twist. It's the follow-up that's been terrible. The barking at Marlena, the whole thing with Liam, the inclusion of Dannifer... Everything they've done with Ericole's story since February has been DREADFUL and does not paint Nicole in a decent light at all. I hate it.

My second issue. Where the HELL is John?! I mean, he DID come back to the show, right? Wasn't he supposed to be an interloper for Brady/Theresa and win back Marlena? I literally think he's been on twice since he returned. It's annoying.
