Melanie must be on her way back to Salem. Way too many mentions of her existence today.
Please let it not be so.

Maggie says she's going to call Melanie, and Daniel beams and says that's a great idea. Weirdly cheery convo about this between Mama and Egg...considering Melanie and Nick's history. Off a beat or two or more.

Gaah. Well we could try to hope that it means they try to phone Melanie ... and then learn that she died offscreen or is living in whogivesafuckistan.

Okay. So I had a thought. As soon as Paige said to JJ, "Wait till you meet my mom.", I immediately had the thought about Paige being Eve Donovan's daughter. It's a long shot, but if that's the case, can we PLEASE get a Paige recast? I don't think I could handle a plot twist like that with this current, boring version of Paige.

That phone call to Marlena killed me when it aired. I've loved to hate Nick's actions against his loved ones in the two years, but that one moment of him breaking and admitting that he needs help - like when he brought Ari to Will's bedside - made me see that this scared little boy had been lashing out - that the bullied had become a bully - and he was at that corner, just about to turn it and even knowing Blake decided to leave, it was such a tragic moment to see Blake as Nick bare his character vulnerability just before he was shot. Hearing it on Marlena's voicemail was no less emotional for me.

Cherrill seems to get stuck with the Daniel worshiping episodes. I wonder if he's sending the audience some kind of code to rescue him.

That's gotta be happening. I'm glad I'm not as averse to Paige as some. I do wish they'd find a way to make her (And JJ) more exciting.

Also, I understand why everyone is so concerned about Melanie, but can we please have someone call Chelsea and let her know, too? Chelsea was much closer to Nick than Melanie EVER was.

This Nicole/Marlena conversation is really making me dislike Nicole. Also, I think that Maggie is showing real insight into Nick without seeming to be making him into a saint. I also am not getting a lot of this "I should have done more for Nick" talk. I am a big believer in accountability and you can only tell someone they need help, you can't make them get it. If they do not get the help they need at some point they have to bear the responsibility for that, not everyone around them.
I know. Nicole came off like a snotty high school beetch :whip:

I can't remember the last time I saw a good script from him.

It would be interesting to see a case study in which characters different writers are assigned to write about.

I thought the same thing. And Daniel is probably her long-lost father.

With these writers, I'd probably agree with that statement except that we JUST saw that exact same storyline four years ago with Carly/Daniel/Melanie. So, if Paige is in fact Eve's daughter, I think we'll be safe from her being a Jonas as well.

Hopefully.

Oh! And we also just saw that story a year ago with Chloe/Daniel/Parker. So yeah. I think Paige is safe.

Absolutely no script writer in the universe on staff can make Fetch palatable or Daniel-propping less than nauseating. But Cherrill's Fetch/Daniel-centric episodes are particularly awful, as are Iacobuzio's and Carolyn Culliton's. And finding a way to turn Nick's murder into a celebration of Maggie's love for her egg baby is as insulting as it is ludicrous, even for non-fans of the late Mr. Fallon.

On the upside, it could bring all the Fallon haters and Fallon apologists together in their disgust at the Daniel propping! There's just no excuse for the aftermath of Nick's murder to revolve around him.

KM did some nice work as a guilt-stricken Abigail, but if they write one more scene with her about to confess to JJ about the affair and have them be interrupted, I am going to throw a paper wad at the tv.

I have to say that Melissa Salmons is my fave writer right now, followed by Jeanne Marie Ford. MS did the 3-day arc for Wilson's wedding & yesterday's script. Notably there was not much Fetch in any of those episodes. I do think she actually pays attention to character history and throws in little tidbits that we all wish were included more often.

I know MS also did the fake out, which was not her best work, but she did hit a bunch of points that Sami fans wanted to hear. I do think it suffered from being a fake out from the get go tho.
