Cool interview. Interesting that Blake knew who the killer was even when they were filming the scenes. My money is still on Gabi.

I also LOVED the part about the unexplored investigation of a mental illness regarding Nick. I would have loved it if Days went deeper into that!

I have never enjoyed Nick, and that didn't change with this last run. I have met Blake a couple of times, and I like him, but the character has just never resonated with me. And after reading some of his thoughts on other characters and motivations, I see why. I think even less of Nick and this whole story now that I know he saw Sami as a puppetmaster.

If Blake knew who the killer was, I think it has to be Gabi. Mostly because he played it like Nick was shocked, and I can't imagine Nick being too surprised about anyone else except maybe Abby.

They've been mentioning the EP in a lot of interviews lately. I think that's interesting because once she came in we really stopped hearing about EPs altogether. It's just interesting.

And finally, I think one of the dumbest things this show has done in a while is have two Nick deaths in a six month span. How stupid.

Interesting interview. I really like BB and I've met him during the 08 election at a fundraiser and I think he's a great guy but his take on Nick is a puzzle to me. It's as though he believes everything that Nick was spewing. Nick thought Sami was behind everything, so is Blake. Nick thought Will & Sonny are treated like they do no wrong and they're loved by the whole town, so does Blake. He sounds like he drank his character's kool aid.

And I didn't care for that bit where he was shaming people who wanted the character dead. It sounds like he took it personally. It's not like people want him dead.

I am looking forward to seeing the lifetime movie.
He should have submitted the scenes with Jensen on Smith Island for the Emmy.I thought he was one the best actor on the show along with AZ,ED,and EM.
I liked the Nick in the river storyline because I liked the Blake's scenes with everyone after the reveal that he was alive.I hate that he is gone but I am also looking forward to how the murder investigation plays out.

I'm actually not surprised that he has some of the same thoughts that Nick had. Many actors, imo, feel the need/desire to become their characters and have their characters become them, in a way. It's a way of being a method actor that has proved very valuable in many other instances. I don't agree with some things BB feels about Nick and his story but some things I can understand why he feels that way. Same with Nick. However, I tend to think every character on Days is at least somewhat flawed...even WilSon who Blake, apparently, believes to be wearing halos (they so aren't but whatever).

I was one of those who was perfectly fine with Nick being killed off but, while I'm not exactly mourning his death, I definitely didn't cheer it on like I thought I would've. Instead I was just in awe of BB's acting and am entertained by an interesting storyline arc. Nick can always come back. Soap characters have even come back from their own cremations. That being said, I like that BB is spreading his wings and moving beyond Days for now. He's very talented so I believe that he could excel in the entertainment field.

Oh, and this just solidifies for me that Gabi is the killer. No big surprise there.

Really interesting interview. I like his perspective on the character of Nick and his relationships with all of those adversaries in Salem. He seems to have put a lot of thought into those relationships and most of them translated well onscreen. I didn't care much for Nick the first time, but this time around he really felt like a character with many layers, even though the writing followed the typical black and white, good vs evil route. I like that Blake was able to add those subtle nuances to Nick.

Quote:

I am not even certain if Gabi understood him, either. I think he thought she did. I think she was vulnerable enough that they related to each other in a number of ways, but ultimately I don’t think she was the soul mate he thought she was!

MICHAEL:

Gabi was setting him up!

BLAKE:

He definitely was unaware of if Gabi was double-crossing him. I think Gabi was the one person who could fool Nick, because he wanted to believe she really loved him. Nick definitely believed Gabi loved him.

Gabi absolutely did it. He thought she loved him, she fooled him, and he didn't see it coming. Even though she bashed him over the head with a rock not even 5 months ago and threw him in the river. This just makes me go "lolz, sucks to suck, Nick."

I Loved Nick when he was a Genius,Virgin Nerd, seduced by Billie.. Who fell hard for Chelsea.. I adored that smart, funny guy. Once they made him a crazy drug addicted stalker/killer they ruined him.. But I LOVED Original Nick.

Blake also tweeted about the Diana Rogers blogpost, and that was mentioned briefly on the DR social media thread this week.
http://daytimeroyaltyonline.com/topic/9097496/3/

And now Blake's mentioning it in the MF interview.

I found the blog a bit disturbing -- The photo seemed to be a shrine to Nick with a vigil candle.

Should he be reinforcing that? I guess he thinks his character of Nick was helpful to the blogger ... but I'm not so sure.

It reminded me of bloggers who are devoted to a certain *REAL LIFE* early-twenties male highly disturbed criminal.

He's talking about an earlier blog the person wrote explaining why she likes Nick. He tweeted about it previously. I don't see the big deal.

I loved Dorky Nick who worked in the hospital lab,who was totally smitten with Chelsea,I truly think that was his only feeling of real love, not obsession like Melanie and Gabi.

I met Blake months ago, awesome guy,the new version of Nick, hmm, not so much.

This was a good interview.

You know, when Nick actually didn't die and came back from the dead, I had the feeling back then that he might end up really being killed later on. And so he did. Shame.

I especially agreed with this:

"One of the problems that I see sometimes in daytime is an overly simple moral universe that everyone lives in – where certain things are wrong and certain things are bad, and certain people aren’t good, and that is not interesting to me which is why I loved Nick Fallon. A lot of people saw the character as bad, but I tend to view him as somebody who is in pain. I tried to show as much vulnerability and goodness as there was in him, even though he was manipulative. I thought it was a fascinating cool character, and was excited to make that contribution to the landscape of this show that has been going on for close to 50 years."

Wow, so true and from his lips. I mean, this is how I feel, there needn't always be this sort of weird parting between totally black and totally white. I don't really get that anyway since nobody in life is like that anyway. If I wanted to see that I could watch cartoons, lol.

Also, I could not believe he didn't get a nom after submitting those scenes. Those were like wonderful to me, palpable.

I think, Blake was explaining how he sees Nick's POV, and not his own personal POV re: Sami or WilSon.

On the other note, while I can't understand why some fans/viewers feel the need to tweet actors about not liking/hating their characters (as if actors would write for their characters), I was pretty sure that actors didn't take it too seriously if their characters were hated. Or at least I thought that maybe actresses are more sensitive to this kind of stuff. But it looks like in soaps they all wish that their characters were loved.

I think it sets you up for disappointment and feelings of rejection as an actor, when you take your character too seriously. Some bring it home with them after the filming is done. I remember someone tweeting shawn basically in the same manner as blake regarding hoping his character dies. They hoped lLiam killed daniel and shawn's response was "thats kind of drastic"

ICAM :D .

I also remember EM stating that "[...] the characters are three-dimensional. They’re not just evil or good anymore; they’re human beings. We’re not a cartoon." (http://www.huffingtonpost.ca/2014/05/09/james-scott-galen-gering-eric-martsolf-days-of-our-lives_n_5297720.html)

I hope, we will see more complex characters like Nick and Kristen on "Days" in the future.

That was a very nice interview. I'll miss hearing his perspective; he appeared to be one of the most thoughtful actors on the show. Although I didn't want Nick to die, I do think it's a little weird that he wants those who did to examine themselves, though.

I think the complaint that gay characters in daytime are perfect is several years out of date, too. I wouldn't expect BB to know that, but I'm surprised MF would make that statement.
