GREG JACKSON JOINS "DAYS" AS JEREMIAH IN JUNE...

Posted Image

Greg Jackson will make his "Days" debut, per IMDB, on Thursday, June 27 in the recurring role of Jeremiah, a country boy from the Ozarks. As viewers have learned, Jordan and Ben have a connection to the Ozarks, so expect Jeremiah to be involved somehow in their storyline.

This doesn't bode well. I can't see how they are going to write this and not come off as amateur hour.

This is one of several reasons why days sux right now. A new character getting alot of airtime, complete with family and a whole big story for them. :frustration: and i can see this new ozark guy now, complete with hillbilly sterotypes.
Something tells me this is going to be one of the worst stories in years.

honestly he probably is, lol. Maybe they're redoing the Curtis Brown storyline?

Edit: i just realized i should probably say again b/c Nicole/Brandon were basically a ripoff as well.

And Curtis Brown was basically Duke Johnson. But, unlike with the Johnsons, Walkers, and Reeds, I don't really care if Jordan and Ben's dad comes in and kills them or drags them back to the Ozarks. Actually, either of those things would almost be preferable to them staying in town.

I wish I could remember the casting call for this guy. What else was said about the role?

I agree with you. I find Jordan and Ben so boring. I wish they would hurry this story up.

So ok... Jordan was married to this guy or in a relationship with him when she was super young, and he was abusive and terrorized her. Ben came on on her hurting her once, got into a fight and ended up shooting him. He's laying there bleeding and they assume he's going to die. Jordan has time to reflect on loving him (the stuff she was saying to Gabi when Nick died), got mad at Ben, and it caused a rift. Rather than either getting help or calling the cops, they took off, leaving him there and assuming the worst. Ever since, they've been on the run, assuming they're wanted for murder. Since Jordan was mad at Ben, she convinced him they needed to stay apart as they ran. Now Kate's digging has found the ex who isn't dead and wants to 1) get revenge or 2) reclaim his woman.

Or he's their dad, and the story could play out basically the same way, but all of Jordan's weird allusions to Rafe and Gabi will have an oddly incesty vibe. Which doesn't surprise anyone because her relationship with Ben started that way as well.

Either way... It's seriously about time. Her story is the one I find 2nd most interesting out of the (admittedly, only 3) new characters with unknown backstories.

This was the original call for a guy from the Ozarks:

Clyde is a short term contract role. Looking for a "Winter's Bone meets Duck Dynasty" type - a Kris Kristofferson...Nick Nolte Type. He's a serious man from the Ozarks who can charm almost anyone, particularly those who have no idea how lethal he can be. People who know him are scared of him. He is a man who may be without a conscience and who doesn't care about others and his affect on them. He takes what he wants. When cleaned up, he is very handsome.

I'm annoyed how long its taken Days to give this story its due. We are still talking the end of June to wait for his appearance. That's total crap in my book. I'm going to be even more pissed if they don't make it count once they finally allow the story to unfold. Chrishell and the viewers have been jerked around enough. It better be damn good!

Maybe I'm just more patient than most of you, but the pace of this story really doesn't bother me. This casting call went out in January, so it should come as no surprise to anyone, given Days' taping schedule, that the character won't debut until late June. I recently predicted June or July in another thread, in fact.

And Days isn't the only soap that's doing this -- Y&R currently has several storylines involving relatively new characters who have mysterious pasts that haven't been revealed yet, and at least two of those characters have been in Genoa City longer than Jordan has been in Salem.

I just hope that when the writers decided to take Jordan's story in a different direction, they did so in a way that wouldn't contradict the few hints they had already given us about her background at that point -- hints that I also recently talked about in another thread.

They need to hurry that clean up because they have their work cut out for them.I guess I need to go to that IMDB page to see what they have to work with.Days actually made Nathan Owens and Justin Gaston look worse.

I hear what you're saying and I'd like to be able to sit back and enjoy the tidbits dished out while musing over the mystery. My impatience stems from my desire to know this character better.

I feel as though at her heart Jordan is a good woman. They've shown how dedicated she is to her job and how much she cares for her patients. She's sympathetic and loving to the people she's allowed into her life. She has a trusting nature. She trusts Rafe obviously, but she also trusts Lucas because Rafe vouched for him as being a stand-up guy. Abby and Gabi have found her likeable while Maxine and Marlena respect her professionally. Sheryl wanted to re-establish a friendship with Jordan even though they had a falling out. These interactions have all been great for allowing us to understand Jordan.

My frustration is with the way they've dangled her past. It feels as if they are going to give us something new to discover only to pull it away. Sheryl comes to town, but we get no new info from this. They don't delve into what caused the friction between the friends, how much Jordan confided in Sheryl or if Sheryl even knew about Ben. Poof, Sheryl is whisked away. Her only true purpose seeming to be the Ozarks reference that Kate picked up on. We might have learned how low Kate would stoop to dislodge Jordan from Rafe's life, but we get no more insight into Jordan's past. I felt let down here.

Now we have Ben, but his intro was very oddly done. It was hard to figure out what type of relationship these two shared. I couldn't even tell if Jordan liked her brother. The vague, run around conversations left me frustrated. I felt as though the writers didn't want to move the story along. Instead of building suspense it seemed as though they were putting things on hold to move other stories. I have invested in this story and these characters and Days is giving me the impression that they aren't important enough to give time to. Maybe that's not their intention and to them this is a slow arc culminating at the perfect moment. In that case I'd like your patience to rub off on me. Thanks for mentioning another show is moving in much the same manner. That helps to some degree.

At this point, I'll have to accept to wait til late summer to see what will come of Jordan's past. I still hope fervently that they do this story justice and make it compelling because I do like the character and the intrigue.
