I remember that time Days posted a blog on their site called "The Loves of Melanie," and I was like, that's the show.
Stephanie was an entirely different character before Melanie came on the scene. The worst thing was they always wanted to have their cake and eat it too, so they'd have bitchy Melanie making snarky, cutting comments behind her back about whatever ridiculous insecure thing Stephanie was up to that week, and then turn around and be so very hurt when Stephanie would reject the pure gift of her friendship. Stephanie is the biggest casualty of Melanie. I never understood Stephanie being villainized and characterized as being a pathetic loser because she hated a girl who would constantly sexually harassed her boyfriend in the most obnoxious way possible and had sex with him at the first opportunity. Later on, Melanie is married to the same man and is secretly in love with Stephanie's new boyfriend. She even came between Stephanie and Max at one point.
Yet Stephanie was written to be desperate, needy, and none too crazy because she had the audacity to dislike Melanie, who was so much better than her in every possible way. . . just ask Philip and Nathan.
Flash forward and there's a redux of this storyline with Gabi obsessing over Melanie and Chad. Of course, at this point Abby is also a desperate, needy stalker obsessing over Austin, so she quickly gets over Melanie kissing her boyfriend and dating him. Every woman under 20 loses her mind out when Melanie enters a room.

Good god my eyes!!! A weekend away and I come back to read this??Hell to the no.I'd rather have Charity Rahmer back blessing my screens with her horrid acting than Melanme again. And you know that means I'm serious....Anything that means anymore Daniel Jonas propping up in an automatic no in my book.Fail DAYS yet again.

I can think of several returns I'd rather see than this. Peter Reckell as Bo Brady. Jason Cook or Brandon Beemer as Shawn Douglas Brady. Martha Madison as Belle Black Brady. Christie Clark as Carrie Brady Reed. Patrick Muldoon Austin Reed. LeAnn Hunely as Anna DiMera. Wayne Northrop as Roman Brady. Matt Cedano as Brandon Walker. Rachel Melvin as Chelsea Brady. Billy Warlock as Frankie Brady. Stephen Nichols as Steve Johnson. Shelley Hennig as Stephanie Johnson. A good actress as Sarah Horton. Sarah Brown as Madison James. Matthew Ashford as Jack Deveraux. Julie Pinson as Billie Reed. Lisa Trusel as Melissa Anderson. WOW! But not as pissed as a lot of you guys, at times I liked Molly Burnett as Melanie.

I don't have a link but check YouTube for February 2010 when she found out Daniel and Carly were her parents and spent an agonizing amount of time slouched in the hospital whining and twirling her hair.

I remember that great bonding moment between melanie and daniel when they delivered chloe's baby together. :eyeroll: :puke: and melanie practically performed surgery all by herself on a patient at the hospital.

Every woman under 20 loses her mind out when Melanie enters a room. That is what I dread the most if Melanie comes back, gorgeous women like Chloe, Stephanie and Nicole are kicked to the curb for "every man's dream woman, Melanie." :eyeroll: GMAB! And yes, what TIIC did to Stephanie to prop Melanie was absurd. My lord, they had her hanging off of Nathan's leg begging him to stay. Of course that was after her jealousy of Melanie drove her to lie, change paternity tests and try to get pregnant on purpose to keep that dope all because she couldn't stand that Nathan wanted the beautiful and perfect Melanie over her. Melanie gets the Dan Jonas treatment where everyone loves, adores and trips over themselves to be near her. Days does not need anymore of that shit!

Noooooooooooo. Not the insufferable presence of Daniel Jr.
Keep that shebeast far, far away from my tv.
EDIT: Dying at Molly Burnett selling anti-wrinkle cream at the ripe age of 26. Freddie Smith is selling it to and he is 26 as well. Sounds like a profitable business venture.

He wasn't crazy/obsessive until Melanie came to town.
And then when I came back to the show, I was shocked, SHOCKED at how everyone loved Melanie include Maggie to find out she was her long lost grandchild! I remember Nick begging Maggie to take her in!

If the Days people that check the board don't log in they're getting updated every few posts in this thread when it comes to how many dislikes the first post has received.
Lol, I'm trying not to check the dislikes because it'll make y'all take my buttons away again and I need them. But seriously, a good amount of the problems with this show go back to Melanie. For example:
- The depletion of the 20 something legacy characters. Why is that? Because they were all DESTROYED to serve a higher power--Melanie. Stephanie, Philip, Nick, Chelsea, even boring as paint Nathan were destroyed at her altar. There aren't any 20 something characters because they were all destroyed to benefit her and their portrayers peaced out. A lot of people say it's because they were young actors and sought better things, but I really believe that some of them saw the writing on the wall and were fed up with what their characters had become. Even if they had kept some of these characters on, there was no way to fix them because they did such a good job of making everyone else pathetic while Melanie got to shine. There's no reason for Stephanie and Philip not to be on this show right now. That's what bothers me the most. There's no reason that Steve and Kayla's kid should have been sacrificed for a made up spawn of Carly and Dr. Dan. The same especially goes for Kate and Victor's kid. There's no way Philip Kiriakis should have been checking for her.
- The Jonas problem. Everything around this show revolves around Daniel and has since around the time they announced that Melanie was his daughter. Daniel was a big part of the show for awhile before that, but once that happened it was done. It was over. Everything was suddenly about Melanie and Daniel and when she left, nothing changed. It's all about Daniel. It's like making him her father gave them license to hand every storyline to him. Not to mention, Maggie has become intolerable since they decided to make them related.
- Nick Fallon. The loveable geek who broke soap opera stereotypes. Look where he is now. A homophobic, murdering, controlling psychopath. When did that happen again? Oh yeah. When he met Melanie. Again, so much potential wasted in the 20-something age group.
I really hope this is just an ugly rumor because I'd hate to give this show up. It's already pretty intolerable with Daniel but I couldn't handle both again.
I remember toward the end of Rachel Melvin's run she was asked what character she would like to play other than Chelsea. She said Melanie. I wonder why? ^o) I can't blame RM. Towards the end of her time on Days, she was doing nothing, whereas TPTB were oushing Melanie/MB into every storyline possible.

If this is the first cast return/addition for 2015, I am going to be tuning out for sure after Eileen leaves again in the fall. This show is really stupid to hire this awful actress again. Not shocked though. Tomlin loves the damn character. But there will be others that tune back in for her, so it will all balance out.
