I think the fact that so many on this forum are hate on Melanie would egg them on to bring her back so you will all throw things at your tvs. No one really thinks all of you will quit watching, you have too much fun snarking about the show. That is why most of us hang in there, isn't it? I complain about some people ***cough, cough, Sami, cough, cough*** and we all have some people on the the show that their character just isn't our cup of tea. But, there are so many forums out there and let's get real, not everyone hates the same characters or even care enough one way or the other to make a stink. But, the ones that make a stink I think play into the hands of the powers that be and they might just say, hey, this looks like it would really be fun to set these very vocal people off.

I kind of want them to hire Molly Burnett, sign her to a four-year contract, and give an interview specifically stating that they did it because of the fifteen(-plus?)-page thread at Daytime Royalty. I can just see the quote now -- "'The response was overwhelming, and we're happy to bring back this character that so many people love to passionately hate,' Ken Corday said in an exclusive interview with Soap Opera Digest." It would be awesomely hilarious.
But I'm evil like that.

Please everybody good is leaving Days. We need something that's going to make is watch maybe recast or bring back Phillip . I love Phillip.
But if Melanie is coming back I don't want him anywhere near that mess.
I'll wait a couple more years until she has exited again.

I'm already on the verge of not watching anymore so just the thought of MB coming back could give me the impetus to stop before she even arrived. I've done it before and stayed away for years after watching for decades so this would be easy. Especially now that I can watch the few characters that I still like on youtube clips.

TPTB are fools (which I guess they are...) if they think Melanie is a character that we love to hate. Many of us genuinely do NOT enjoy watching her. "Good girl" or "bad girl".
Old, villain Sami was a character that I loved to hate. Melanie is insufferable, and I'm not kidding when I say that I'll probably stop watching if she returns. I'm already tempted thanks to the destruction of Nicole.

I already quit watching, so it's a moot point on that regard. I can bitch about it being a reason to keep me away.

Oh, you haven't been here long. Fifteen pages is nothing. Yeah, this thread could have been 40 pages long. I'm glad it isn't.

I could get behind her return if she came back like she started out. The street smart, savvy girl who didn't take crap from anyone. But like she left? GOD NO!

Oh, you haven't been here long. Fifteen pages is nothing. I've seen much longer threads. That wasn't really the point of my comment. It was more about how amusing it would be (to me) if the show's executives came right out and blamed this thread as the reason for Molly Burnett's return. Like you're signing your own death warrant by complaining about it.

My death warrant? You know what... never mind. It's a figure of speech. It wasn't meant to be literal or offensive, and it wasn't meant to be just about you -- I was using "you" in the general sense. I just appreciate the irony that occurs when people do one thing to try to get a certain type of outcome and it backfires and ends up having the opposite effect. In this case, hoping that the negative feedback and the many "dislikes" will dissuade them from hiring Molly Burnett and later learning that it actually persuaded them to do so instead.
There's really nothing veiled about either of my previous comments. I'm also not the first person to express this idea in this thread. The first to say that I'd find it amusing, perhaps, but not the first to express the idea that the activity in this thread might backfire and prompt them to hire Molly Burnett. If it was somehow offensive to you, though, I'm sorry about that. It wasn't meant to be taken so seriously.
I did say I was evil, though.

I like even numbers.130 dislikes and counting.I also hated what the writers did to Stephanie,Abby, and Gabi in order to prop Melanie.I shudder to think what will happen if Melanie returns to Salem.I just pray to the soap gods that we don't have MB and CJD both return.

I just remember the one SOD/SOW article from a couple years ago titled "Brady is Torn Between Nicole and Melanie!" and how I just went :fp2: the whole time it played out. Melanie worked best with Nathan, but the show went and ruined that by making Melanie Maggie's granddaughter after Nathan left. And yes, I'm aware of the fact that Nathan and Melanie are still not related. I am still in mourning over the ditched Nathan/Melanie storyline. I liked them together and liked Nathan too because he actually was a legacy character unlike Melamey. :glare:

This is probably not even true , probably speculation because all the exits. The only people I want back on this show are Phillip, Chloe, Shawn, and Belle.
It's not speculation.
Yeah, unfortunately for some of the fans, when DC posts "spumors" about a possible return that they are hearing about it's usually only a matter of time until it officially gets announced. With Chad coming back I could easily see Days throwing Melanie into a Abby/Ben/Melanie/Chad storyline. Wash, rinse and repeat. There was a baby/toddler casting call a little while back or so. Maybe Melanie or Chad are coming back to Salem with a kid. Maybe I shouldn't put that out there in the universe... Abby squandered on that crap! Dear heavens what a waste because the EJabby angle had such potential. :'(

The only time I could tolerate Melanie was when she had scenes with Brady. I never understood it, but they actually had chemistry. Wonder why they never tried that pairing. Hmmmm..Teresa vs. Melanie??? I'm still on team Teresa with that one.
They did try it. Brady was falling in love with Melanie. EM bitched about it in on Twitter (because of the age difference). Nothing came of it because MB left the show, but had Melanie stayed, Brady would have been yet another guy head over heels in love with her and unable to live without her.
He did? I don't remember that and I gathered EM and MB were close. I do know he joked about it on twitter, but that's it. Anyway, Melanie was ok. She wasn't great, but like the poster you quoted, I enjoyed her scenes with Brady. I felt like they had great chemistry and it was the only relationship she had on the show that didn't seem forced or make me roll my eyes. I liked her just fine and even I got tired of them forcing the Melanie love. It was just ridic, especially towards the end. I know if she comes back, they will do that ish again so I pray they at least give me Mel/Brady scenes. If they bring her back and couple her with Brady, then the Grim Reaper will come a knockin' for her or she'll have to go on the lam from the law. . . Brady's poison to women in a commited relationship! :blulaugh: But whatever it takes to get rid of Melanie permanently - I'm in!!
