Daniel shows up at Nicole's door huffy and puffy and stinky and going to demand she listen to his highness. He's. So. Pathetically. Self righteous. And. Manipulative.
I'm going to have to respectfully disagree. I like Daniel and Nicole but what Nicole is doing is morally wrong lying to someone that she claims she loves. Daniel is doing the right thing by telling Eric and he is angry with her for a reason.
Everyone else gets to lie to the people they love and get away with it without being hung and quartered (or having to have endless conversations with St Jonas about it).
So you think it's okay for Nicole to lie to Eric because other people lie too? I don't really understand what you're getting at. Personally I think the whole story line is stupid. The writers shouldn't have had nicole shred the papers in the first place but now that she did I still think it's wrong for her to lie to Eric
She shredded a piece of paper.

She shredded a piece of paper containing inadmissible evidence that could have gotten her and Daniel convicted of crimes.

She shredded a piece of paper that depending on whether the church has different definitions of admissible evidence may or may not have cleared Eric to go back to do a job he said he didn't want to do anyway.

I can see how at the time she might have thought it was better for everyone if the paper had just disappeared.

Of course stupid fickle Eric Brady then changed his mind and decided maybe he did want to be a priest after all if there was a sign from god. I also think if Eric wants to be a priest as badly as people seem to think he does why has he given up on god. Why isn't he still out there searching for this sign from god rather than hanging out in hotel rooms.

I think at the time it was a forgivable crime it's just all the lies they have had her put on top of it which are sending her over the edge.
I think though that only with Nicole would this lie lead to full catastrophe you are the worst person ever fist shaking.
Any other character would probably get away with it or have a convenient excuse come up to get them off the hook or an earnest heartfelt chat with Maggie that would make things all better.

I don't know who's side to be on with Nicole. I want Eric to forgive her, but then... this isn't the first time she's lied to try and get/keep him. If I remember correctly, back in the day Eric was about to leave her, so she had a biopsy and lied about the results.

It's kind of funny in a way, because I remember when he found the truth, I vividly remember him saying "God, what have I done with my life." ... as if foreshadowing. (Not that those writers had the priesthood in mind.)

I know but I want him to get to the point where he understands this side of her. Where he learns to accept it and manage it. A bit like Tony was with Anna.

She's never going to be ..... (insert female name here but for the life of me I can't come up with a Days character who hasn't lied to their partner) if he loves her for who she truly is I think he needs to come to terms with this part of her personality. If a year in the convent didn't knock it out of her I don't think she's going to change anytime soon.

Gabi goes out for groceries.

Eric shows up at Pink Jennifer's house. He's going to resign from his job.

St. Daniel tells JJ everything is fine. JJ says if there is anything he can do because he owes his relationship with Paige to Daniel. Nicole shows up and JJ leaves. Daniel says "You didn't bring Eric?" Nicole says why do you go out of your way for JJ but not for me. Ugh.
Why does Eric go to her house? Shouldn't' t he go to the hospital to resign from his job? When does Jennifer ever work? Does she work from home now?

I'm torn because while I agree that what Nicole is doing is 100 percent WRONG, I can't help but think she's right about Daniel butting in. But I wonder if I feel that way because the writers insinuate him into so many stories in which he clearly does NOT belong. Maybe if they hadn't foisted Dannifer on us ad nauseum, I wouldn't feel this way??
It's not like this is the first time Daniel has ever talked to nicole about anything. They were friends. I don't see anything wrong with him talking to her about her lies and telling Eric about it but that's just my opinion. Do you not like Daniel and Jennifer together?
I think my dislike of them stems more from what I said that tptb have shoved them down our throats and have them constantly in a state of unsettle. It's one thing for a couple to have angst, but they're ridiculous. His character has a history of being written and OVER written into stories that he doesn't belong in. There was no need for HIS character to find the shredded doc and why couldn't Rafe have gone with her to confront Chyka? He's insinuated into stories.

And don't forget . . . those "shreds" directly link Kristen to Chyka! Thus proving Kristen drugged Eric and it WASN'T mutual. Man, hopefully Sami will get to slap Kristen for drugging/raping Eric, Nicole for with holding evidence, Daniel for knowing she with held this evidence and EJ for knowing that Kristen drugged her brother. I'm totally on board for a Samantha Gene slap down.

What happened to the thread about yesterday's episode? Did it get deleted? There were like 19 pages about it. I had fun in that messageboard
It is still here.

Personally, I blame Salem's version of the Catholic Church for this whole mess. If they weren't such self-righteous douchbags themselves, they'd do what their religion preaches and forgive Eric, whether it was consensual or not. And given his dedication, they could have given him the benefit of the doubt when he said he wasn't possessed of his faculties. The real Catholic Church has forgiven priests for far, far, far worse offenses and blamed the victims for whatever "sins" happened.

I get and reluctantly appreciate Daniel and Nicole have been friends. That's whatever. What kills me is how Daniel is making it his life mission at the moment to make sure Nicole does what he thinks is right. Is what he thinks is right...right? Well yea and I hate that too but at the end of the day, it's none of his business. I keep going back to the last scene. Nicole opens the door and there's Ape, all breathless and haggard (what else is new) looking at her like he literally ran all the way over there to handle this situation. Give me a break! This whole thing is just so utterly dumb, I'm annoyed by ever angle of it. Oh well. Nicole will get her yearly crucifixion. Lets get it over with and move on please.

JJ ....what happened to him? He's lost all edge and it's sad because he was exciting to watch up until....yup...the D word comes back into play. Look, it ain't my fault. When Daniel gets into your story, one of two things happen. Ya either get the edge sucked out of you or whatever action you take in life has to be approved by him thus making anything you do uninteresting. I don't need Daniel's take on things and I don't need him running around town to save people he barely knows. Again, give me a break.

Paige is the most lifeless, dullest, not even aware enough to be nails on a chalkboard character I've seen in a looooooong time. It's embarrassing to watch.

NuBen gets a ten from me.

I thought Sami looked good today and wasn't over the top huffy puffy like she usually is. I kinda dug her performance today....maybe it's because I know she's leaving.

I get the whole Will confesses thing but something just feels a tad flat to it and I can't pinpoint what it is. I thought FS was really good today. Glad the show decided not to drag this part of the story out. Gabi grew on me overtime so it'll be interesting seeing her scenes that are coming up.

It was an ok show today. I wasn't blown away by anything. If anything I'm just glad we are one day closer to getting past the misery that is the Nicole story.

Mrs. Hernandez is the most neglectful mother ever especially considering she lives in "West Salem".

Seriously they need to kill her or cast her b/c this is pitiful.

i have to admit, as much as I hate Daniel, Nicole makes him tolerable. But not in these scenes b/c I hate his intrusion on Ericole.

Here's the thing. Nicole has proven that when she's committed to a lie, she won't do the "right thing" and confess on her own. Like it or not, Daniel has to keep hounding her or this secret is never going to get revealed.* You could insert anyone else into Daniel's role and have them pressing just as hard for Nicole to tell the truth, but since it's Daniel and most people just absolutely loathe him and love her, it's coming across as him "butting in" when really, he's just doing what is necessary to force Nicole to tell the truth because she won't do that otherwise, period.

*And yes, it needs to be revealed, because it was wrong of her to keep this from Eric. Setting aside his decision to return to the priesthood for a moment, it's just wrong of her to keep this from him for his own peace of mind -- it's the one thing that can prove beyond a shadow of a doubt, to him and everyone else, that he was innocent all along. The fact that it might also allow him to return to the priesthood is a secondary issue; the main point is that she is choosing to let the whole world (so to speak) continue to believe the worst about him -- that he is a hypocritical priest who was exiled from the church in disgrace after filming himself betraying his vows -- just so that she can hold on to him.
