so... about all of those people claiming Gabi was trying to ruin Will & Sonny's happiness for her own selfishness...
To be fair, the show completely changed Gabi's motivation. For months she was fighting with everyone and reaching out to Nick. She didn't look like someone who was afraid of Nick. She slapped Sami, picked a fight (twice) with Sonny on not inviting Nick; she told everyone that she trusts Nick and without him she wouldn't have got her dream job; she told Will and Sonny they need to get used to seeing Nick, if they want her and Arianna to still live with them and let's not forget Gabi telling Nick to take care of Sami. There was no indication that she didn't believe/mean any of that. The only time she showed fear and disagreement was when they met with Aidan and after Nick forced her to set a court date.
Gabi has always insisted that she would never want to keep Will from his daughter no matter what. That doesn't seem like something a selfish person would do. Gabi made a lot of mistakes but never deliberately set out to hurt anybody and she was a victim in all this. Everybody wanted Nick dead , it's just sad she's the one who has to pay by leaving behind a small child to grow up without her mother.
But when she was pregnant before she and Nick's first wedding in January 2013, she was perfectly content to let everyone think Nick was the father and not let Will have anything to do with the baby. Will had a nightmare about Nick and Gabi deciding to move away from Salem and taking the child away (in his dream it was a little boy) without so much as informing Will of where they were going. She was so cold to him at that time.
I don't think someone who knows Gabi well should be representing her. EJ knows Gabi too well. She is almost like family. It's kind of like having Hope investigate Nick's murder. I think Aiden is a better choice to represent her.
Rafe should have been written as having gone to W.Salem off screen to tell his mother in person that Gabi had been arrested for murder then having the conversation with Jordan about that experience. How far can W.Salem possibly be from Salem?
I know there's always a lot of fun snark on the board about Mama Hernandez sitting off screen in West Salem while her children go through hell in Salem. But honestly...I don't think that DOOL has ever written anything to indicate that Mama Hernandez has lived in West Salem while any of her children were on the show.
It's been my understanding that Rafe grew up in West Salem but the family moved away some time ago. When Rafe took Sami to the convent there, the nuns knew him but hadn't seen him for a long time. In the numerous family calls to Mama Hernandez since then, I think there have been discussions about her living far away and her health being too frail for airplane travel.
I can't point to any specific clips right now to back that up. That has always just been my impression.
When Nick and Gabi were planning to get married, the night of his bachelor party Gabi wanted to call her mother to tell her about the wedding but Rafe told her that mama was very ill and would be too frail to take the news. I believe Gabi finally did talk to her mother on the day of the wedding (January 2013) but then of course the wedding was interrupted by Chad about the real paternity of the baby she was carrying.
I also think RAFE still blames Sami for that situation and how she was so mean to Gabi. Also with how she was so mean to Gabi in February 2013 regarding the paternity test etc.

Gabi deserves the way Sami treats her. She is a terribly selfish person

I think that Gabi is just a very passive and easily influenced character. It's amazing she dumped Will when she figured out how he wasn't into her, given Will's begging. But Will's begging was desperate and transparent. Whether it was Nick or Andrew or Sami or Kate or EJ and even sometimes Rafe, Gabi has always been shown to be easily talked into things when she thinks the person has her best interest at heart. I think her default has always been to care about Will but Nick would apply pressure and she would cave. I think she's responsible for that behavior, of course, but I do think they've set her up as caring about Will when nobody is trying to get her not to.
I don't even recognize Gabi in these past few episodes. She is actually being honest for once in her life and I've never seen her cry. I can actually relate to her now.
She cried for days after her wedding blew up in January 2013'. She cried when she gave birth to Ariana.
I do vaguely recall that conversation between Rafe and Jordan. My recollection is that Jordan was surprised that Rafe grew up so close to Salem and that they would drive over there sometime to see where he used to live...not to see his mother there.
I'm trying to recall now whether the mysterious car accident that involved Rafe's sister Ariannna and that killed his fiancée was supposed to have occurred in West Salem. If so, that could be the reason the family moved away.
But again...I'm not totally sure. I know lots of other posters do say that Rafe's mother still lives in West Salem. I just have never thought so.
My understanding was that their mother went to live with a distant Aunt when her health began to fail. This was brought up when a young Gabi came to Salem to be in the care of her older brother and sister. Rafe traveled to see his mother for Arianna's funeral. That was held out of town so his mother can't still reside in West Salem. The person he spoke to on the phone after talking to his mom might have been the Aunt. I'm sure the reason Rafe called his mom instead of seeing her was because he wants to be right on hand with Gabi at this important time.
Rafe talked about showing Jordan his old stomping ground in West Salem. He never said his family still lived there. The time he mentioned taking Jordan to meet his mom with Gabi and the baby sounded as if it would be a trip.
I remember something about Gabi's high school graduation, and her mother planning to make the trip to come -- but then at last minute, her mother was sick or injured and it would bet too difficult to travel? This is a vague memory, so I might be wrong.
Her mother fell off a ladder while hanging New curtains. She broke her leg and was in the hospital and could not come to the graduation.

Okay but that doesn't change the fact that she is a horribly selfish person
While I can understand Rafe accepting Gabi's decision to accept responsibility for her wrongdoing,I still don't understand why he did not try to talk her into having an attorney other than EJ given that he was upset that she felt her best alternative was to kill Nick rather than turn to him.An attorney looks out for the best interests of his client.I did not like Gabi say she trusts EJ after he basically talked her out of mentioning Rivergate which would provide mitigation affecting the charge/sentence in her case.I'm happy that Marlena will know that Gabi is keeping quiet about Nick,Sami and Kate's behavior at the river which could affect the charge/sentence and that Sami is allowing Gabi to do so to save her own ass.I wonder how Aiden left the message.Gabi would not likely have access to her phone since she is under arrest for murder.Rafe did not mention the offer so it is not likely the message was left on his phone.Even though Nick was her cousin,I wish that Hope would suggest that Aiden contact Gabi personally to offer his services given that she does not trust EJ. Rafe should have been written as having gone to W.Salem off screen to tell his mother in person that Gabi had been arrested for murder then having the conversation with Jordan about that experience. How far can W.Salem possibly be from Salem?
You are twisting what happened LOL. Ej NEVER talked Gabi out of mentioning Rivergate. All he did was ask her if she intended to confess about Rivergate as well and she told him that she would not implicate the people who helped her. There was no persuasion or pressure from Ej. If I am mistaken about that, please show me a clip of that particular scene and I will stand corrected.
I do agree that Rafe could have insisted on getting Gabi another attorney. I know Gabi is an adult, but I was surprised how quickly he accepted her fate. He seemed so completely defeated without putting much of a fight. It is like he knows there is not much he can do to help her. it is too late. I think everyone has pretty much accepted that Gabi is done for. Ironically, the only person who is urging Gabi to put up a fight is Ej.
I hope someone can clarify this for me. I was a little confused that Rafe was implying that Sami was behind Gabi's problem. He even said that Gabi should not trust Ej because of Sami. he seemed to think that ej was involved because he was doing Sami's bidding. it seemed odd because i expect him to mistrust ej because of their history, not because of sami with whom he has a good relationship. Unless he knows about rivergate, I don't understand why he would think that sami was behind his sister's predicament. if he knows about rivergate, why is he blaming just sami and not Kate? he even said that marlena could not be trusted either because she is sami's mother. That scene did not make sense to me.
I posted that he basically talked her out of mentioning Rivergate.I could have been more precise and posted that he did not encourage her to provide mitigating information to the police.During the Monday episode EJ said they could fight the charge on the basis of Gabi being afraid of what Nick would do to her ,she pointed out if she did so,she would risking sending him,Will,Sonny, and Sami to jail.Once she said that EJ let it go.In fact when the DA asked Gabi how Nick would be able to send her to prison,EJ interupted saying he was advising his client to stop but once Gabi started talking about Andrew,he sat back and shut up.With Nick's past prison record and history with Melanie, any unbiased ethical attorney who knew of Rivergate would have told Gabi that revealing that Nick manipulation of the NY modeling contract, physical attack on her when she told him she was turning down that offer, and subsequent blackmail would make it less likely that she would be charged with first degree murder, could result in a manslaughter charge, and considerably lessen the time she would likely spend in prison away from her daughter.EJ did not of this.If Aiden had been her attorney,he would likely actively encouraged Gabi to present the best defense to the charge so that she would not be away from her daughter any longer than necessary.
Supergirl while I was watching the 6-2-14 episode on the NBC website,Sami's shoes were clearly shown at the 8:19 mark. They are a wonder to behold, truly grotesque. If you have the time, can you please go to the site and screen cap Sami 's shoes. Its when she enters the room at the police station to talk to Will,Sonny, and Lucas.
If she were to mention rivergate, how would that help her? she has no proof or evidence that Nick tried to rape her. All the evidence were destroyed. She could claim that Nick tried to rape her, but there are no witnesses except the ones who saw the argument at the square where she threatened Nick. She never reported the attempted rape and put it on record. Rapes in general are very hard to prove. But in Gabi's case, it is next to impossible after all those months.
If I were Kami and Gabi threw me under the bus, I would deny deny deny. In fact, I would turn on her so fast she would not know what hit her. Granted Hope can place Sami by the river. But Sami can say that she came in after Gabi assaulted Nick and she was going to the police, but Gabi forced her to keep quiet as she threatened to take off with Ari. So she kept her mouth shut to protect Ari from her crazy mother. Then Gabi will say that Kami helped her drag the body into the river. Knowing Kami, they will deny it and Gabi can not prove that they ever threw Nick in the river. There is no proof, no evidence to support any of it thanks to Ej's cleaners LOL. No witnesses since ej made sure Mr. greeting is gone forever and Nick is dead. it is Gabi's word against Kami's. I don't see the DA taking the word of a confessed killer against the word of 2 powerful executives with strong connection to the community, no apparent strong motive.
If she brings up rivergate, I can assure you that it will make it worst for her because it will show prior intent as she tried to kill before and failed. so she just finished what she started before by shooting him dead. It is not what you know, it is what you can prove.
I was responding to the portion of the post about Aiden being the better choice for Gabi as an attorney than EJ since his desired to "help" Gabi is secondary to his desire to protect Sami.If you watch the video posted by KAM in the Tuesday thread you will see that Sami and Kate both sent texts about meeting in the park near the river and made telephone calls.Kate also made the telephone calls using Nick's telephone. If the police issued subpoena's to the telephone companies, they could get copies of the texts and they can triangulate where everyone was when the telephones were used.Gabi has a cohesive story that explains all of them being in the park and is consistent with the suspicions of Abby,Hope, and Julie.Nick's phone being used in Salem while he was supposedly in New York. They can probably check video of Nick's property being picked up by someone else and lack any hotel, rental property, credit, bank transactions as well as Nick's employer in New York never having any contact with him. What reasonable explanation will Sami and Kate have for both of them being in the park at the same time as Gabi and the texts they sent on their own and using Nicks's phone.I already loathe and despise Sami,I would love to see Sami sink even lower by lying to the police about Gabi blackmailing her into keeping quiet about hitting Nick with the rock to save her own ass.
GW's Will doesn't have the same friendship chemistry with Gabi that CM's did, but I'm still going to miss their bond.
I think CM had a crush on CB and that came through in their scenes together.
I wouldn't be surprised if this were the case. I always felt like there was a weird vibe between CB and CM during their scenes. Whenever it was CB, CM and FS in a scene together I would sometimes want to remind CM's Will that he should be showing desire towards Sonny not Gabi. That's what sometimes threw WilSon's scenes off with him. I also thought that CM's Will wasn't all that comfortable with the love scenes with FS and tried in subtle ways to distance himself during them. CM got a little better as time went on but I never really bought that CM's Will was completely attracted to Sonny 100% of the time. With GW's Will, I don't doubt the attraction between them at all.
To totally agree with you. I remember reading an interview with CM where he talked about the love scenes between Will and Sonny and how he (CM) felt "awkward" during those scenes. He also mentioned feeling awkward about kissing another man and how it "lowered his standards" for kissing girls. I think he more interested in the coming out part of Will. But when it came to the actual relationship of Will and Sonny he was not as invested as he should be. That is why I always felt he was uncomfortable in playing those scenes. At least at first. After awhile, he seemed more and more comfortable with the kissing and playful touching (rubbing Sonny's shoulders, hugging, and playing with hid ears (which FS HATED), but the actual love scenes never did seem natural. Guy seems VERY comfortable with these situations with Freddie so the love scenes seem more real to me than they did with CM.
Quoting limited to 4 levels deepbecause of Sami. he seemed to think that ej was involved because he was doing Sami's bidding. it seemed odd because i expect him to mistrust ej because of their history, not because of sami with whom he has a good relationship. Totally agree. CM had a bit of awkwardness when it came to Will's relationship with Sonny. I'm having a stupid moment here but what did CM mean by it "lowered his standards" for kissing girls?
I mainly chalk CM's issues up to the fact that he's never played a gay role before. He's still young and was only used to kissing females on screen. Kissing scenes can be weird anyway but it was clear from the start, imo, that FS didn't have that awkwardness during WilSon's love scenes. It was all on CM. Of course FS has played a gay man on a TV show in the past so he clearly didn't have any issues with it. GW has played a gay role before Days as well (though I'm not positive that he had any love scenes with men before) but he's also in his late 20's, unlike CM, and is obviously more comfortable with himself and different roles. That's why, imo, so many people have commented positively on the chemistry between FS and GW. They really don't hold back and there isn't any weird smirking or real hesitance. CM was really great and quite realistic during Will's coming out story but I definitely appreciate GW's version of Will more now that Will is married and more grown up. He comes off as being much more secure with himself and his relationship to Sonny.

I don't understand what confuses you, what it is that you do not understand.
so... about all of those people claiming Gabi was trying to ruin Will & Sonny's happiness for her own selfishness...
Even at the WilSon wedding she got in Sonny's face about his comment on the phone about "taking care of Nick" - but he was not referring to Nick Fallon.
I think she changed her tune after overhearing Nick tell Sonny (outside of Club TBD) that If Gabi did not do what he wanted that she would go to prison. That and finding out Nick was blackmailing Abigail too. She knew she had to get away from him before it was too late.
You know looking back, that actually does make her hasty departure from Abby in HTS make sense. She just bolted and now we know it's because she overheard Sonny and Nick.
I can picture how infuriated Abigail will be when Gabi tells her about what she did to Melanie. In fact I can picture it in my head right now and Will won't be happy about it either.
Yeah, those thoughts are getting all crowded with my thoughts and excited expectations of the slap that Nicole is gonna deliver Jen next wk.
She is a terrible person
And Sami is a perfect example of what it means to live life as a perfect, unselfish person?
Sami has no right to judge Gabi or anybody else for that matter. Gabi has never committed a crime that Sami has never committed herself.
I'm not sure I understand your point. I'm confused =/
I don't understand what confuses you, what it is that you do not understand.
Who cares if they were at the park at the same time? They didn't kill Nick so I'm really not understanding what you're trying to convey. Can you please explain it to me?

I was responding to Marie's post indicating that Gabi would have no proof,if she gave a truthful account of what happened in the park and at the river since she has no witnesses to what happened now that Percy is gone or physical evidence since the photographs are gone and the cleaners scrubbed the crime scene. There is no direct evidence to support her version of events but there is some circumstantial evidence to support her statement if Gabi chose to tell the police what happened at the river to explain why she was afraid that Nick would physically harm her. That along with his conviction for killing a man and his kidnapping of Melanie could likely get Gabi a reduced charge and/or reduced sentence as mitigating factors in her shooting him.
The story begins. All of the following happens in this clip. June 23, 2011 - USA airdate June 22, 2011 - Canadian airdate
Scene opens with Will and Gabi preparing for their high school graduation.
We learn some background: Mama Hernandez is living a planeride away from Salem, and had previously requested that Gabi to come visit their family home wherever Mama lives now -- and Mama has been redecorating to make the house nice -- in hopes that Gabi would actually come -- and see the nice house.
Gabi is expecting Mama to fly in for the graduation, and for her brother Dario to pick Mama up at the airport. But Gabi gets a phonecall from Dario, and learns that Mama has broke her leg at home -- Mama fell off a ladder while hanging curtains. Mama is hospitalized in whatever city she lives in. Therefore Mama cannot come to the graduation.
Gabi and Will and T and Kinsey are hanging out at the pub.
Gabi wants to kiss Will, but he feels extremely awkward. Gabi invites Will up to her room where she lives above the pub. Will says no, has some excuse, and runs off.
Gabi asks Caroline for advice as to why Will doesn't want to ...
Sonny arrives in Salem (Freddie Smith's first episode) and greets Abigail.
Abigail introduces Sonny to Will.
Justin and Adrienne welcome Sonny, and let Sonny know that Uncle Victor doesn't yet know that Sonny is gay.
