This week's SOD features a short article about Julie and Gabi. Julie wants to ask the judge to make Gabi's sentence worse, but Hope tells her that's not what Nick would have wanted. Julie talks to Gabi, but even though Gabi is very upset, Julie still doesn't understand why she did it. Hayes shares that "though much of it took place off camera, Julie felt a strong bond with Nick." Julie is so upset at Nick's death that she "takes a long journey away from Salem." Funny, I thought she was already on a long journey away from Salem. |

Sigh. I really wish Julie would be open-minded enough to understand what Nick had become. Whether due to mental illness, drugs, prior trauma, a brain tumor, or whatever reason .... Nick had become an asshole. Perhaps this was curable and we won't know. He didn't deserve to be murdered. But, nevertheless, he had become an asshole. I'd like Julie to at least acknowledge this. Why can't she say that he had some good in him, but it was terrible what he had become? It doesn't have to a choice of Nick being either evil or awesome. Why can't she see both sides of him? Edit to add: It wouldn't betray her bond with him ... if she acknowledges that he tried to control Gabi absolutely, in classic emotional abuser mode. Acknowledging the truth about someone's faults -- is not a betrayal. It's an acceptance of the truth. Edited by nananana7, Jun 6 2014, 01:41 AM.

Didn't she sort acknowledge this in her last conversation with Nick, when she encouraged him to seek help. I don't think she's ignorant of Nick and what he's done, she just feels that there was good in him and wanted him to get back to that, had he been given the chance. At this stage we can't say one way or another if Nick would have change for real but that last conversation with Julie did have an effect on him. Julie will never stop loving Nick, just as Hope never will, there's nothing wrong with that. |

Julie wants to make Gabi's sentence worse? Does this mean that Gabi gets a pretty light sentence or that Julie is out for blood? |

I enjoyed Julie's involvement in this storyline but I wish the writers had used her for other purposes. The past few months have been hard for Hope and it feels like Julie barely noticed, she was always focused on Nick. |

The key thing here is basically "the bond happened off camera". Susan is well aware there weren't any scenes that makes Julie's connection to Nick flow to the audience. There should have been...but there weren't any that were substantial. Honestly, the defender and protector of Nick should've been Maggie. Viewers who saw Nick's first run understand that! Oh well. I love Julie and look forward to seeing her even if it doesn't make sense.

Sounds like Gabi is getting a light sentence since hope tells Julie its not what Nick would'v e wanted. Don't know who made hope Nick's spokesperson from the grave. |

I wonder what would be a light sentence in Gabi's case. |

Long journey from Salem, doesn't she always, she's hardly around already, except to be in total denial about who Nick really was. |

I've heard of alot of cases where first degree murder was negotiated to lesser charge because the murderer told where the body was and they wind up getting less than 20 years in prison. Maybe Marlena helps her get a pity me sentence. |

Yeah that's true. Since Gabi did confess and strike some sort of a plea deal then it probably won't be 25-life. Maybe it'll be 5-10 instead and Julie wants Gabi to serve life. Of course it's just a silly number that can be re-written at any time or she could get out early due to good behavior or parole or whatever. |

So, Julie takes no pause to consider how her blindness to Nick's behavior and pushiness toward getting him together with Gabi might have been wrongheaded? Gabi was terrified of Nick enough to kill him. But Julie doesn't even recognize or acknowledge her delusions about their relationship? |

She was not blind to Nick's behavior. The last time they talked she mentioned his demons and encouraged him to get help, which is what he was doing when he was murdered. She has a right to grieve Nick's death and to be angry about it. No matter what he did, he didn't deserve to die. Edited by Restless84, Jun 6 2014, 08:00 AM.

Julie did tell Nick to stay away from Gabi at one point after he returned from "New York." She told him Gabi was trouble with a capital T. The audience didn't even know Gabi felt threatened and we saw everything. How was Julie supposed to know what was going on? Imagine if Julie knew about the river incident! |

Why does these horrible writers continue to miss opportunities to feature Julie? There are lots of opportunities for her not only in the aftermath of Nick's death, but also to be supportive to Hope while Bo is gone, etc. Instead, they are basically just telling us we won't see her until August.... |

. . . and T. Tell him that Club TBD is missing him. Wouldn't it be funny if when T does come back he makes some comment to NuBen about "wow! you've changed since I was last here"?? :blulaugh: |

She told Nick that Gabi was trouble, even though she knew Nick had a problem with obsessive stalking behavior to the point where he murdered somebody to control Melanie. Yet, she multiple times pushed Gabi toward Nick and talked about their great love. Gabi killed him. She could at least acknowledge that she missed some key dynamics in their relationship and was not helpful to Nick. |
