I want to punch EJ in the face every he calls Gabi "Gabriela". Stop. It's not cute when you call people names other than what they actually go by. Gabriela isn't a nickname; it's him being a douchebag, and she should stop answering to it. Also, he said subpoener. Which made me laugh for so many more reasons than I will share.
As you're probably aware, I don't like E.J. I never have. But this doesn't really annoy me because this is just something that E.J. does (either because the writers want it to be a character quirk, like John saying "that's a fact" all the time, or because James Scott wants it to be a character quirk, like Kristian Alfonso's raised eyebrow). He calls Sami "Samantha", he calls Will "William", he calls Gabi "Gabriela", he called Nick "Nicholas", and so on. He calls people by their full first name, in a nutshell. I can accept that.

My problem is that he's not consistent about it. There have been times when he has called Gabi "Gabi" or Nick "Nick", and he's probably dropped the habit with other characters at times, as well. He doesn't call Sonny "Jackson". He doesn't call Kate "Katherine". He doesn't call Allie "Alice". And I could understand if this were some sort of term of endearment that he only uses on loved ones (as long as he were consistent about it), but, as mentioned above, he does it with people like Nick, too, and it doesn't really work as both a term of endearment and a term of condescension depending on the target.

It bothers me when he does it with all those other people, too. I don't like it when John and Steve do it either. I think it's douchey and kind of stupid coming from someone with two letters as a name and a son named Johnny.

It was hard to muster up much sympathy for Eric when he was talking about how he'd given up Hope that he'd ever clear his name when the fact is, he didn't do a thing to try to clear his name. He gave up right out of the gate and if it wasn't for Daniel and Nicole he wouldn't have the proof now.

Edited to add: and I did not like that he called Nicole a bitch. At least I think I heard him say that. Sometimes his whispering is too hard to decipher.
Not being a smart ass here but how many rape victims you know go out looking for proof at first. The man was reeling from one bit of bad news to the next. Hell why should he have looked he knows how Jonas of Nazareth is he would surely find evidence if were to be found.

I always found it curious that EJ always called Nicole by "Nikki" where as everyone else he calls by their full name.

Finally, Eric called Caroline and told her to take the night off...from right outside the already closed pub. What?

I think that, like the scene with Sami and Marlena, something was cut from this scene, as well. The impression that I got was that Eric had gone to the pub to talk to Caroline about what had happened because he had wanted her advice and support, but when he had arrived, he had realized that the pub was closed, so he had called her to find out what was going on. She had told him that she had closed the pub early to attend a party, but she had offered to return to the pub to see him because the party had been cancelled, anyway. He had declined the offer because he hadn't wanted to inconvenience her.

Or it could have just been really sloppy writing, but really sloppy editing makes more sense to me in this case.

Oh, if we're just talking about the trait itself being annoying, as opposed to it only being annoying when he uses it on Gabi, then yeah, I can agree because practically everything that E.J. does annoys me. ;) But I accept it as a character trait, and as a character trait, I want it to at least be consistent.

Kate/Sami/Marlena. Well. First of all, something had to have been cut. The last Marlena/Sami scene didn't flow AT ALL from the previous one. It seemed like things were going well, and then all of a sudden Sami was pissed again. I didn't mind Kate/Marlena's interactions EXCEPT that when they put Kate/Sami together, they act like two teenagers. Also, Marlena's hair looked absolutely horrid, and why on earth are they so obsessed with that stupid color.

And there's Sami. Okay. I would like FOR ONCE for someone to actually answer this. Are there scenes I'm just forgetting where Marlena has listed Sami's crimes for the beginning or gone back and scolded her for the stuff from the past? I can't think of a single time that's happened, and yet I can think of several times Sami has accused her of doing it. It's frustrating to me because it seems to have just been accepted on soap boards that that's what always happens, but I've never actually seen it happen...let alone always. So someone please. Show me what you/they are talking about.

Finally, Eric called Caroline and told her to take the night off...from right outside the already closed pub. What?

I agree Sami and Kate act like teenagers. I know some people enjoy them but I find them annoying.

I think I am so used to Sami doing that to Marlena that it never occurs to me that Marlena never does that to Sami. I know it's true, but I am just so tired of Sami's usual harangue of accusations I tune her out. It's garbage, but that's what I expect to come out of Sami's mouth.

Marlena's hair... :shame: it was Mega-Maggie-ized. And would it kill Deidre or whoever dresses her to have her wear more casual clothes. :hypnotize: take me back to 2005, please.

Eric calling Caroline just outside the pub... Bizarre!

Kate and Sami say they were trying to help Gabi. Marlena says that you two convinced that girl to do something stupid. She says they have poor judgment. Kate says you showed that video of your son having sex to the whole congregation.

GMAB Kate. Marlena had no idea that Eric was on the tape. Gabi's life is ruined because of the mess they dragged her into at the river.
It seems like people forget that or just like to ignore it. Marlena had no idea what exactly was on that tape because Victor (who literally no one is blaming at all) manipulated her and the situation. She was told it was proof Kristen had cheated on Brady, not that her son was raped.
To be fair, Victor had no idea that Eric had been raped. He couldn't have possibly told Marlena that the video depicted something he didn't realize that it depicted. He could have told her that it depicted Eric having sex with Kristen, yes. But Eric being raped? No.
Nobody's saying he did. However, everyone is acting like Marlena knew exactly what was on the tape and then knowingly pushed play.

Besides the skirt in all the different colors (I liked it, just... mix it up with jeans), I really miss 2005/2006 clothes wise. Even in her pantsuit days, she had comfy clothes (and looked adorable, btw, let's just be honest).

But he didn't always call Nicole Nikki, and he shortens all those other names in the quote (he also often called Lexie by a shortened name, and he used to use the nickname Sami early on).

I'm not your target audience here, since I've never uttered such things, but I have this nagging feeling that they did get into a conversation about Sami's past misdeeds in one of those arguments leading up to the "grief sex" reveal during Marlene McPherson and Darrell Ray Thomas, Junior's stint. Perhaps in what was Rafe and Sami's apartment at that time?

Either way, that would only be one example.
I don't think so. They had another conversation similar to this one where Sami said she knew exactly what Marlena was going to say and she always condemns her and blah blah blah while Marlena said nothing. And at the time, I asked this same question and no one answered lol.
I can't think of anytime where she outright went through a list. I think Marlena just gets a tone of "oh here we go again" and Sami interprets what she wants from it and stomps off enraged.

Quoting limited to 4 levels deepand a term of condescension depending on the target.

I don't think you get my point. Nobody is saying he should have come up with a new nickname for Nicole.

I have never witnessed this either in all my years watching and I firmly believe the show wants us to believe this happened "off screen".

And I agree, its annoying and drives me CRAZY!
