Please don't tell SoapFemale that that's an actual name.

My Lysie is actually short for Elyse, though (it's not really shorter...). It became my username kind of oddly, though. My college roommate and I had the same middle name, spelled differently. But she actually went by her middle name, and sometimes we called her Lysie. My username used to be my middle name, but at some board a long, long time ago, I forgot my password. So I just changed it to the nickname. And now I go by my first college roommate's nickname, lol. People actually call me Lysie in real life now that DR does press, and it's flat out bizarre.
You already have a long name & you know what it is...
SoapFemale doesn't even need to use the actual name to sound cultured, fancy, and parental.
Damn straight.

I do approve of SoccerMother & ThomasSawyer.

Not sure how I feel about SoapFemale.

To be fair, Victor had no idea that Eric had been raped. He couldn't have possibly told Marlena that the video depicted something he didn't realize that it depicted. He could have told her that it depicted Eric having sex with Kristen, yes. But Eric being raped? No.
Nobody's saying he did. However, everyone is acting like Marlena knew exactly what was on the tape and then knowingly pushed play.
Sami made it sound exactly like that today, and Marlena just sat there and took it as usual, ugh :drunk:

I don't think that is what Sami was saying at all. the point is Marlena knew that it would humiliate Brady in public, it would embarrass Eric to have this shown at his church while he was presiding and she went ahead and did it anyway because she was bent on destroying Kristen and it backfired. I don't think Marlena gave much thought how Brady would feel. She only cared once she realized her precious Eric was in the video.

Also, I don't know why Gabi hasn't just told everyone about the attempted rape AND about her hitting Nick over the head with the rock. All she really needs to say is that, at the time, she thought she'd killed him and panicked and ran out of the woods only to later find out that Nick was alive. Then when he came back to Salem, he was threatening to tell everyone that she'd tried to murder him with the rock on purpose and left him in the woods to die. Problem solved.
Simple and brilliant. With Nick dead and Percy gone, why not?

Actually, she did. She didn't want to do it initially because of how Brady would feel, but Victor convinced her it was the only way, and for some reason she listened. But when Victor first gave it to her, she wanted to talk to Brady privately for exactly that reason. But no one but Marlena and Victor know that.

One more time. Just in case.

I would like FOR ONCE for someone to actually answer this. Are there scenes I'm just forgetting where Marlena has listed Sami's crimes for the beginning or gone back and scolded her for the stuff from the past? I can't think of a single time that's happened, and yet I can think of several times Sami has accused her of doing it. It's frustrating to me because it seems to have just been accepted on soap boards that that's what always happens, but I've never actually seen it happen...let alone always. So someone please. Show me what you/they are talking about.

Oh and Brandon, too. I HATED when he called Sami "Samantha." These men are not her father no matter how much they act like it.
And I can't think of any time that either Real Roman or fake Roman ever called her Samantha :blulaugh: maybe Samantha Gene.

Why not? Because someone else shares the name? I don't see why that would make a difference to him. And that's another thing. If he has chosen to go by another name because he's embarrassed by his full name, and these other people all go by shorter names...just maybe that's also by their choice. I don't think they have him do that (I'm not even sure if it's the writers who have done it) to make him look like an asswipe, but by George they've sure succeeded, and it's not like he needed help to look that way.
Oh, you're discussing this as if EJ is a real guy. I meant that it would be difficult to call Johnny John because it would be confusing for the viewers. I agree that it's impolite to change up names on people. I'm not sure why you wonder if this is a writer's choice, though. It's a definite Dimera male trait. I fully expect Chad to pick it up, too.

Also, I think it's funny that you're so worked up about this. "These men are not her father?" That is so dramatic, lol.
Have you never had this conversation with me before? It's so a hot button for me, and I don't even know why. I'll get used to it for a while and then he'll start with someone else. It just grates. And triple ugh to John calling Abe Abraham. And seriously, if Sami went by Samantha and he decided to call her Sami, it wouldn't bother me nearly as much if even at all.

I question whether or not it's the writers because of how inconsistent it is. Not that the writers can't be inconsistent (LOL), but like...in some instances I've wondered if James just doesn't know that their name is actually short for something.
I think it's totally an actor choice. I don't believe for one minute that script writers give two shits about any character's name. And they would totally not be consistent about it, considering how many different writers there are and have been through the years.

I'm quoting myself because my post was long, and I want an actual answer on this.

I'm not your target audience here, since I've never uttered such things, but I have this nagging feeling that they did get into a conversation about Sami's past misdeeds in one of those arguments leading up to the "grief sex" reveal during Marlene McPherson and Darrell Ray Thomas, Junior's stint. Perhaps in what was Rafe and Sami's apartment at that time?

Either way, that would only be one example.
I meant to quote lysie's post, but somehow I lost it LOL. Too tired to go back lol.

I can not point out the exact times throughout the years that Marlena has thrown Sami's sins in her face, but I can testify that she has done that more times than I care to remember over the years. I would not say she makes a list of all Sami's sins LOL, but she has her own settle way of throwing shade at her to make her feel like shit which feeds in her insecurities and low self esteem. She would throw 'innocent' comments like 'you are so lucky lucas/Rafe forgave after everything you have done to him' which is her way of saying 'you don't deserve such great guys as lucas/rafe since you are such a shitty person. My personal favorite is when she compares Sami and Eric and points out how wonderful Eric is and says nothing about Sami LOL.

Marlena has her own way of making Sami feel like shit without even saying a word. I am not saying it is not justified because Sami does screw up a lot, but she does it and she has done it for years. As a grown, Sami gives Marlena too much power over her life. I wish she did not care what Marlena thought of her, but sadly she does. Look how distraught she was today over it. Get a grip woman!!
Distraught? Really? All Sami was doing was worrying about herself and making sure she badgered Marlena into keeping quiet. And in typical Sami fashion, as soon as she realized Marlena was standing there she went off into the "you hate me blah blah blah, look what you made me dooooo blah blah blah".

Distraught? :blulaugh: :blulaugh: :blulaugh:

I am okay with the way Gabi was written off.Gabi, like Hope, is one of the few characters on Days who has comitted a crime and chose to pay for it in the end.Gabi was guilty about her role in the Andrew/Melanie and made the decision to turn herself in but was talked out of going to the police by Rafe and Nick.Gabi wanted to confess to killing Nick but was talked out of it by Kate and Sami.Gabi killed Nick, she confessed to keep Will from doing so,and stated what she did was wrong, she had no right to kill Nick.I liked that she turned down EJ's suggestion that she fight the charge.I think the only reason she is not using the attempt rape to mitigate her charge and sentence is to keep Kate and Sami out of legal trouble. As she is leaving she is making her own decisions about what is best for her.

To answer as I recall. No she had actually never told Sami anything. She's looked disappointed but Sami always seemed to let her guilty conscience cloud how she thought her family viewed her, especially Marlena.

And he calls himself EJ and his son Johnny, lol. I'd like to know if the inconsistency comes from the writing or the actor. My guess would be both, though.
I don't see it as a big deal. I think it is his own style. Some people are more formal than others. it probably has to do with his upbringing. I was raised to call people by their formal name unless we have a close relationship. I don't know why Ej does it, but I would think it was an issue for the characters, they would have said so.

I do love it that Ej call Sami Samantha. He has become his thing. it feels strange when he says Sami.
I don't care if it's an issue for them. It's an issue for me. They're not going to complain about it unless a writer has them complain about it. But I think it's pretty stupid to be formal with your fiance and her son and not formal with others (himself, his son, Allie, Sonny). Just because it's his style, doesn't mean it's not rude.

It would only be rude if the characters had a problem with it, but I think they see it as his thing. I also loved it when he calls Sami Samantha it sounds better than Sami so it sounds beutiful when he says it, and strange if he says Sami. I think he prefers to be called EJ though because Elvis sounds silly, and John would sound to grown up for Johnny.

In other words I think EJ uses full names if he likes the names, Gabriella is also more beutiful than Gabi so to me itīs not rude but the opposite itīs saying your name is beutiful.

I don't like that Marlena isn't defending what she did at Brady and Kristen's wedding. Sami and Kate make it sound like Marlena knew that it was Eric in the video having sex with Kristen. Didn't Marlena think it was Daniel in the video? Why isn't she defending herself?
But, that would mean the writers gave Marlena an opinion and feelings and such...
I have to disagree. I don't think that was the point of the dialogue at all. The point that Kate was making was that Marlena had done something that had arguably been misguided in the name of protecting a loved one, just like Kate and Sami had done. Marlena's suspicions at that time about the identity of the man in the video are irrelevant -- she knowingly showed a sex tape in a church in an effort to expose Kristen and protect Brady, and it backfired. Kate and Sami knowingly covered up what they believed was a self-defense killing in an effort to protect Gabi, and it backfired.
And one could even argue that she strongly suspected it was Daniel and didn't even care about exposing HIM. . . not her finest moment at all. Don't get me wrong, I still don't like Daniel, but hopefully y'all get the point I'm trying to make.
Yeah, I was going to point that out in my own post (although Victor did assure Marlena that Daniel wasn't the man in the video, but it doesn't matter who the man was -- the point is that she knew that she would be publicly humiliating someone just for the sake of exposing Kristen), but it would have ruined the symmetry I was going for, so I decided that alluding to it would be sufficient. ;)

I realize Days is good for the next couple of years, but I would think Nick would be one of those characters that would pop up years down the road, not in the next couple.
I don't think he'll ever be back.
And that would be just fine with me! :yahoo: :chee:
