I really don't understand why every time Sami is brought up in conversation people have to mention what a terrible person she is. What does hurting her children have anything to do with her conversation with Marlena and how has she hurt her children in this river incident?
That's actually exactly what her conversation with Marlena was about; therefore, it's what's being discussed here. If you don't like the discussion, don't participate.
I don't mind it being discussed and I know it's about the river incident. That's what I'm saying. 'm just sick of hearing how Sami is such a terrible person and how she doesn't care about her children. It simply isn't true. People act like Sami is the worst person on the show. Well, honestly some people think she is a pretty vile character and not a caring mother and a poor daughter. There's really not a true or false on this topic, but only opinions and points of view. Those same thoughts and opinions can be applied to Marlena, Gabi and well all the characters. :wub2:

Well they are both leaving the show. Now it's time for Stefano to leave. Every person we don't like should leave, just kidding :blulaugh:
Nah. I don't mind disliking characters or characters being bad people. I'm thrilled that Sami is leaving though.
No I'm totally kidding. I don't think they should leave. This show needs villains or it would be boring as hell. I'll have to respectfully disagree. I think Alison Sweeney is an excellent actress. I'm going to miss her and I have a crush on EJ. I love tall men and British accents. Ugh! We HAVE villains and it's boring as hell right now!

Marbitch needs to mind her own damn business and STFU. Sami is grown and she is free to live her life the way she wants to. It is not like Marlena really gives a damn about Sami or what happens to her anyway. If she does not like the way Sami lives her life, that is just tough. You can't control your children after they become adults. it is too late for her to straighten Sami out. she should have done so when sami was a troubled teenager acting out. Oh wait, she was too busing chasing after John. Sami is never going to be good enough for mommy dearest no matter what. She needs to stop harassing Sami with her hypocrisy and focus on her other good children, you know the ones she really cares about and is proud of. Sami does not need her or her stamp of approval. - Rosebud

It's not like she wanted him to literally die for no reason. It's not uncommon to want someone dead when you hate them.
Again, there is a difference in wanting someone dead, to acting to cause that person to die, i.e. Hiring a hit man to kill them.
you mean like shooting an unarmed man in the back at a church inches from your own daughter? Ok, now you're just plain making shit up. She was stuck in the storyline from hell for like a year trying to get Sami to get help, then finding out Sami kidnapped her sick infant child. She tried endlessly to try and straighten Sami out. She was not chasing after John, that was Kristen. Trying her very best to keep two people in love apart, as Sami was doing. Marlena was waiting, she was not chasing. And she was very much in Sami's storyline trying to get her any help she would take, all she got was a slap in the face. Well, that was the show I watched.
Marlena didn't shoot EJ.

Yep! ITA with this. I worked with a woman who made my life a living Hell for 10 years, when I left my job they called me about a year later or so to tell me she'd died. I felt nothing at all. Well, not true - I was relieved because I knew she was emotionally abusive to many people OTHER than me and I knew she couldn't do that anymore to anyone. But did I want her dead or plot her death? Emphatically, NO! I think that is an entirely different situation. This is a tv show. While Sami is one of my characters what she did wouldn't happen in real life. Most people wouldn't plan a death towards someone we hate. I personally found the river incident hilarious. My mom doesn't watch Days on a regular basis but she watched that episode with me and we were laughing our asses of

That's how I feel anyway.

I hope not. I think hate is just a really strong word. There's people I intensely dislike and those I choose not to be around, but hate is just really powerful. And there's no one I wish dead simply because they piss me off. Hopefully my being pissed with pass - the state of being dead . . .well, it just doesn't "pass".

That's why I responded to my real life situation.
That whole conversation with Sami and Marlena just made me sad and uncomfortable because I could understand what Marlena wanted from Sami, but sorta understood Sami's callousness too. The callous attitude might've come off better if the who Rivergate thing hadn't happened or if the callous attitude had come from Will. I even understand Gabi just wanting it to stop (meaning for her that Nick had to die.)

I'm a pretty pessimistic person based on my life experience and something that I will share with you all is I have bipolar disorder with multiple manic episodes. I think most people with bipolar and major depression have a pretty negative outlook on life so there are people I've hated in the past.

I don't mind it being discussed and I know it's about the river incident. That's what I'm saying. 'm just sick of hearing how Sami is such a terrible person and how she doesn't care about her children. It simply isn't true. People act like Sami is the worst person on the show.

Yeah we all have different perceptions if characters. I feel differently than a lot of people. A lot of people like Gabi but cannot stand Sami but for me it's the reverse. I think Sami is a very loving and caring mother. I think she shows her love towards her children all the time. You know how I feel about Gabi so I'm not going to repeat myself. I think Sami has demonstrated that she CAN BE loving and caring...but I think for a good amount of time Sami has demonstrated that she really doesn't look out for the best interest of her children....let's start all the way in the beginning shall we? Sami would put her men ahead of her children, over and over again....call him Austin or Brandon or Rafe....the difference with Lucas and Ej is that they ARE the fathers of her kids.....
When Sami finds out that Austin isn't Will's dad, instead of telling everyone she keeps it a secret for a few weeks. Then when the truth is out, she goes above and beyond to purposely try to keep Lucas out of Will's life. Lucas can't bond with his son because Sami purposely makes it her mission to keep Will thinking that Austin is his father. While behind Austin's back, Sami continues to tell Will to call Austin dad, etc...it's only after both Lucas and Austin begin to slowly tell Will the truth and reinforce it that she finally starts to change her tune....only....
to then falsely accuse Lucas of child abuse so that Lucas could remain out of his son's life. She knows that LUcas didn't hit Will but cooked up a scheme to get all the authorities to believe her word over Lucas'. She uses Lucas' alcoholism against him in order for the court to be able to file in her favor.
From that point on and for a good 10 years, both Sami and Lucas would play tug of war with Will. Neither acted in the best interest of their son, but I would Sami was solely responsible of starting the tug of war, since Lucas kept trying to come to an agreement with Sami for joint custody that would be ultimately beneficial for Will.
Then let's skip ahead to continuing to keep father's from their kids and almost making Will carry the blame for shooting Ej....and she knew that Stefano was gunning for whomever shot Ej, she knew that she had done it and allowed Rafe and others to believe Will had.
The fact that she shot EJ, knowing that both Johnny and Syd would be hurt over their father's death.....that is yet another time that she didn't put her kids ahead of her own desires.
IMHO Sami can be loving and caring but she's not always shown in that light.

Quoting limited to 4 levels deepIt simply isn't true.
:wub2:
I'm going based on what I've personally seen. I've only been watching Days for two years so I haven't seen everything Sami has done and I don't know her whole history.
