Kate and Sami meet in the park. They hug! Sami: I think that went perfectly. Kate: I think it did. Sami: I'll be in touch.
OMG! Kami is in cahoots! This is the most shocking and best twist in soap history! LOLOLOLOL.

Nobody bought into JS's hyperbole, right?

I just think unless something horrible or major has happened that these news conferences would be best left to airing when most people are home around 6 or on a channel that shows news all day.

OH MY WORD! Literally right after commercial break from cake fight, POTUS breaks in! I know! World news and all, but honestly. . . we've waited YEARS for this Sami to come back and now I'm gonna have to catch it in it's entirety online, which means more waiting. :soapbox:
My news station came on before any of the cake fight.

My issue is they've likely had this together for hours if not a day or more. Why not hold a press conference last night? Or this morning? Or say 12 or 12:30 when the news is generally on?

It was originally planned as you suggested.

CNN said "The White House initially said Obama would make a statement on the situation in Iraq at 12:30 p.m. ET on Thursday, after meeting with his national security team. The timing of the statement was pushed back to 1:15 p.m."

I don't know why it was delayed.

Doesn't NBC usually repeat the episode the next day when more than half of it is pre-empted?
In my area they replay it at some random time in the middle of the night...usually like 2:40 a.m. Check your listings & dvr it then. I've never seen them play it the next day.

Why the fuck can't he do this damn statement at 2:00 or 3:00? And of course we'll next have to hear the talking heads explain to us what he just said, like we're too damn stupid to understand.
Better yet, let the hundred news stations cover it.

You know I always wonder when they interrupt Daytime television with anything newsie, "Who's watching? And how many are watching?" because some stay at home moms of little kids are watching Disney on Cable, grave yard shifties are sleeping, and the rest of the United States is AT WORK! So why on earth can't they just save the "news" for 6 and 10 where it belongs because is this news conference really gonna change THAT much in such a short span.

Last week the ridiculous burning house and this week the ridiculous POTUS and his circus of freaks, who could and should just borrow Jennifer's sad clown pants and call it a day!
ouch. :shame:

I turned it off. Did it last the entire last half? I'm just pissed!
yes, plus more
Yeah sometimes it's not even the interruptions for the news; it's more the commentary of "here's what he said" and "what he meant" from the political analysts. I mean as if viewers are too daft to understand what was said. Although with all that "ah. . . uh. . .ah. . ." maybe we do need an interpreter or at very least closed captioning.

Long Live Stefano (RIP JOE)

It erks me a little as an internet person people have been ruining the story by saying Sami knows and her and Kate are plotting together for it turn out to be true..So I didn't get the shock factor sorry..Good tv but sorry

That hug scene between Sami and Kate was over the top. Kate's jacket was so stiff that the embrace was really awkward. There is someone really strange in charge of wardrobe lately but the choices are amusing if nothing else.

Oh no, I'll have to watch it online. How will I survive? Meanwhile civil war has broken out in Iraq and already many thousands have died.
:blowkiss: Thank you for that. Does my heart good to know others care about what's going on in the middle east.

Historically speaking, when a US president (from *any* political party) makes an announcement that he's preparing to send over 100 "military advisors" to a foreign country, that's basically a "spoiler" of a possible international plot development ...

This is something I want to know about right away because ... this affects real people in my life (regardless of political viewpoint).

Meanwhile the National Enquirer doesn't have any soap opera spoilers for the week of June 30th. I can wait to learn that.

I've waited 8 years to see the real Sami. I can wait a few more hours to see someone's clips of today's episode on youtube.

Just my opinion.
Yeah, I totally "get" that - I'm probably still pissed about the burning house pre-emption from LAST week. Our local affiliates are total clowns.
The media in my area are in a tizzy reporting a bear in a tree near the National Institute of Health. :blulaugh:
Okay, now THAT made me laugh. I'm not sure if bear trumps burning house?? Oh the night that they aired the replay, hockey went into WAAAAAY overtime and so it aired 1.5 LATER, but my dvr reset didn't record it at all. Lots of local viewers were hacked off.

I, too, care about what's going on. But since the days of the OJ Simpson trial, I have lost patience with televised news. The have about 12 hours worth of time for news coverage already included in their schedule. Countless cable news stations. And the internet. There are so many ways now for big news like this to travel fast without the need an interruption to a Network television regularly scheduled program, no matter what it is.

Unfortunately they're writing so far ahead at this point that they can't use social media to gauge how to promote the show. These two twists were not unexpected...maybe there will be one tomorrow that is.

And I don't think it is the internet as much as it is just bad writing & direction...we're clubbed over the head with anvils on a daily basis. Subtle is not part of TPTB's vocabulary. TBH the only reason to think Sami didn't know was Ali's carefully worded interview, but any soap-savvy person could see through that.. And the Kami thing has been pretty obvious too with the un-shown scene at Wilson's, the OTT arguing & mystery phone calls.

Exactly. Why do they even exist if not for news conferences like this?

This is kind of out there, but when was the last time an actual flashback (pre-HD) was shown?
