I still think NATAS carries some blame, though. It was their event, they should have had all the reins in their hands and they didn't. They should never have allowed themselves to be bossed around by the producers like that. Also, did anybody see that video from the event by Brittany Furlan, one of the... eh... "social media correspondents" on the red carpet? It's attached below if you haven't. She openly admits to being unprepared. Also, count the amount of times that she says, "I have no idea who any of these people are." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bboHaccmSDg |

Couldn't they have hired s some actual Soap Media for the Red Carpet ? Especially since this wasn't going to be broadcast on tv it would have been a great opportunity for some insightful interviews. As far as I I know most soap bloggers are on social media. |

This debacle is a prime example of what happens when decisions are made primarily based on numbers. These twits had the numbers when it came to follower quota the people that hired them were looking for and people will remember some longer than others how these ill prepared and inexperienced "interviewers" made embarrassments of not only themselves but the Daytime Emmys as a whole. They could have done some studying online before the Emmys. I think we can all agree that there's plenty of information online about every actor and soap that was nominated. The only people I feel sorry for are the people who were "interviewed" by these twits and we the viewers who spent any time at all trying to watch it all as it was happening. The one who made the video responded to someone in the comments by saying "Didn't get the prep materials soon enough, it was all rushed." which is no excuse since all the nominees and plenty of assorted info was/is available online. You can tell she didn't think much of the Daytime community going in and still doesn't coming out. |

The actual awards portion was the best I have seen in almost a decade....the arrivals/pre-show was a travesty of epic proportions! |

It would be interesting to know the numbers for all the interviews done by actual soap media people for the event. How many times have those been viewed? if NATAS only got 135,000 views/downloads/streams those "social media experts" sure didn't bring their followers with them. What scares me Is with that low number is how they will ever get a tv deal again? Edited by daysjahvu, Jun 30 2014, 10:15 AM.

Brittany Furlan was the worst of the bunch. Disrespectful and rude to the hardworking daytime stars. I don't care what those women do on their blogs or videos and their numbers. They had no business working a red carpet event with stars they neither cared about or even bothered to find out about. |

I enjoyed the actual awards portion for the most part especially the end. The arrivals/pre-show is what my previous post was about. |

They announced the girls' names on June 18. That is 3-4 days to get a list with pics of the major players. Get on Google & get the list if you're not given one. Go to twitter/instagram with the list if you don't have pics or a clue. At least know the nominees from Adam/Eve. I have so little interest in these vapid millenials that use social media to belittle people, spout insipid fashion knowledge & beauty tips to gain attention & fame. One of my biggest fears for my 13-year-old twin daughters is that they will seek validation through social media/others rather than from within themselves. |

I'm reading through the comments beneath her video and am disgusted. They're all praising her, What is there to praise? She was disrespectful and rude, embarrased herself and can only dream of ever becoming anything more than a vlogger. |

Brittany Furlan was the worst. She wasn't only ignorant, she relished in it.

I just don't understand why they didn't go to Linda Dano (to represent the long time viewers/older age groups) and then one of the younger former soap stars, male or female, (Billy Miller, maybe?) to represent the new viewers/younger demographics. Linda knows the business inside and out, she's good at interviews etc., and she knows the people. I follow her on FB and she's very upset about the whole mess because of how insulting and embarrassing it was to the actors. NATAS is to blame and they need to grow a pair and take responsibility for their lack of action. The people producing the Red Carpet part of the show told them to back off...and they just...did? Um, hello? Didn't the NATAS bring in the producers? If they're the ones that hired them, then what the hell were they doing letting these people take complete control? It's their show, their reputation on the line, who lets go of complete control like that with no say so what-so-ever? |

the producers of the red carpet seem to really like what the girls were doing...when it went black but we could still hear them everyone was saying oh it went great and were laughing about jokes the girls said...meanwhile nobody seemed to be checking boards while it was live...i think if its online next year (im sure CBS will step up) they need to have a live chat room along side of it so they can see how well they are doing. |

Worst broadcast ever of the Emmys. The live stream would freeze and many of the winners had to come from the back to get to the stage. The red carpet interviews were a complete mess and sadly some of the woman will probably get a reality series TV show. The YT version of each winner was a million times better than the show. |

It's not like it would have been that hard. There's only 4 soaps. There's generally only 4 nominees in each category. You probably only really need to focus on the acting category |

I loved this years Emmys and yea there were a few train wreck moments but they were fun moments. I had a blast watching it. But those girls....I don't want an excuse because there IS no excuse for those bimbos. They weren't cute, they weren't funny, they represent everything I loathe about this country and I hope they know how bad they screwed up. |

ITA with you, but as someone mentioned up thread, the comments on that video just encourage more of the same, obnoxious behavior. One comment said that even tho you make a million people mad at you with your behavior, if you make a few people laugh it's worth it. Sad commentary on the so-called millennial generation. BTW there were 37,000 views of that 5 minute synopsis of her trashing daytime stars. Obviously, her fans didn't bother with the whole show if there were only 135,000 views total. Sad thing is 5 minutes is the max attention span it seems. Incredibly, she has over a million followers on her vine acct. :shame: Edited by daysjahvu, Jul 1 2014, 09:46 AM.
