thanks for posting! I know the date for DCE fan event in Atlanta was changed a few weeks ago because they had heard from the actors that the DE were being switched form June to April. Glad to see confirmation ! |

Moving the Emmys to April is a good idea. The Emmys are given out for the past calendar year, so its better for the ceremony to take place early in the year than when we're already halfway through the new year. It makes sense that there are no prenom rounds for Outstanding Younger Actor and Actress. Each category has only a dozen eligible candidates, so there'd be no point in cutting a couple of people in a prenom round. I find the Guest Acting category to be senseless. Most guest actors on soaps don't do anything noteworthy in an episode or two that they're in, so I really see no point in rewarding them. |

i wonder if this changes the eppis that are eligible? I mean, they wouldn't be able to enter December's eppis into consideration (unless the show let them maybe?). Which would work for Days which tapes ridiculously ahead, but others may not even have the year finished at that point. Edit: sorry I just realized that article doesn't mention the pre-nom deadline. Michael Fairman's article below says pre-noms have to be in by November 28th. Maybe this was already the case though? http://michaelfairmansoaps.com/news/42nd-annual-daytime-emmy-awards-set-for-april-2015/2014/10/29/ Edited by blueskies, Oct 30 2014, 10:20 AM.

Previously, the deadline for submissions was some time in December, meaning that it is now less than a month earlier. The prenoms are announced in February, anyway, so tapes will probably have to be submitted in early January. Edited by OliveAnn, Oct 30 2014, 04:29 PM.

The Guest category is a good addition. Although I think it mostly has to do with GH and Y&R, since those are really the only show that can have some realistic benefits from it. |

Michael Logan tweeted this yesterday, I think: Nu Guest Performer @DaytimeEmmys category only for 2014 noncontract hires, not returnees, so no Shemar or Bob B. Men/women nom'd together. What this essentially means is the following: 1. Actors who are on a recurring status, like John Aniston or Meredith Scott Lynn on Days, are not eligible as they were hired prior to 2014. 2. Susan Seaforth Hayes and Shemar Moore are not eligible, as they were once a part of the show and returned for just a few episodes. 3. Donna Mills, Marie Wilson, Alicia Leigh Willis and some others who were hired in 2014 for the first time and are not on contract are eligible. |

Its the Donna Mills Award. I really believe that it was created for her. That's not a complaint though, she's freaking Donna Mills and I hope she wins it. I think this award is actually a long time coming, I just hope it doesn't lead to more stunt casting because there's enough of it. Donna Mills is far from stunt casting since she actually serves a purpose and has a character that is now connected to a lot of the canvas. |

Exactly. Donna Mills is probably the catapult to it, also another one mentioned of course was Ray Wise. However, not sure whether he was hired already in 2013 or 2014. |

I hope they are not online this year and the red carpet is not hosted by those horrible women. |

I think being online kinda made it improve dramatically. The real issue was the red carpet trash. I'm not opposed to an online show, but realize its better for the industry to be on TV even if less than 1 million people watch. |

The ceremony itself was the best in years...people got to finish their entire speech, each category had CLIPS, the shows music was used when winners won...soaps got way more respect this year. For that reason I hope it stays online...because we already know networks and cablers do not give a fuck about soaps or allow them that much time. The red carpet though was the WORST I have witnessed on any award show....ever. Edited by Mitchapalooza, Nov 4 2014, 03:25 PM.
