Per 12-15-14 Soap Opera Digest, Meredith Baxter (Maureen Russell) is OUT. On December 2, When she took the payoff from Nikki she skipped town for good --- or did she? "Maureen is on the run but you never know when she will turn up again!" teasesa spokesperson for the show.

A shame I say. She had great chemistry with Sean Carrigan(Ben/Stitch), Cady McClain(Kelly) & Melody Thomas Scott (Nikki) and should've stayed in my opinion.

I am glad, she was a bumbling mess, a horrible mother, even now, too cowardly to stand up and be a woman and pay for murdering her husband. I hope the character Maureen doesn't ever come back.

Wasn't that role (Maureen) supposed to be a short stint anyway?
Well anyway, it was nice seeing her again in something.
Hopes she comes back and create more trouble later.

Meh, she started out with promise and then ended predictably. It should have turned out that Kelly was the murderer and MB was there to help Stitch get his name cleared. Now Kelly is going to flip out and Momma won't be there to help her out.

I'm sure she'll be back sooner or later, I thought she was very good in the role, but this business of the "murder", they could have very well covered it up as an accident instead of Stitch taking the blame. Who would have known that the shed didn't get caught on fire because the father knocked over the lamp or something?
Or, self-defense of an abused wife.

The burning shed instead of the "Burning Bed."

I love Meredith, just not Maureen. I wish they had given her a less nasty role.

Y&R is rolling now. Sometimes you have to throw dead wood on the fire to keep it rolling and right now the Young and the Restless is burning hot.

Thank you, KevinBuchanan, for posting.

I don't think Meredith Baxter was supposed to be longterm. I thought the plan was that she was hired on recurring status for a story arc. As it was, I think they kept her longer than they'd originally planned to.

I didn't like how her character was written. At all.

but damn ... she acted her butt off and totally sold whatever her character was saying and feeling.

Respect.

I think she did an awesome job.

My understanding is that the actresses Melody Thomas Scott and Meredith Baxter became friends (sisterly pals/colleagues) on the set, and that MTS respects Meredith Baxter as an actress. MTS will probably miss having such a powerhouse actress on the Y&R set.

When I was watching the final scene when Nikki met Maureen in the park and gave her the money ... I noticed some emotion coming from Nikki. I *speculate* that we saw MTS's own emotions affecting the intensity of Nikki saying goodbye to Maureen. (Disclaimer that I'm just speculating)

I agree the writing for Maureen was screwy. It's a shame. Meredith Baxter may not have wanted to stay for a longer term either.

They should have at least had her stay in the hospital a couple of days. Who gets up from heart surgery and leaves a hospital the next day?
Not even Victor could do that! lmao

I thought they said she had a bypass? No?
One of my friends had stents put in, she was in there 3 days.

I misunderstood then, I just thought stents. Bypass won't get her out the next day. Hubby was in for 10 days.

You could be right, I may have mis-heard it or just assumed, but, she was knocked out, and you have to be awake when they put the stents in.

One thing I liked was how much alike Ben and Maureen are/were, in mannerisms and speech. It made the mother son relationship very believable.
