National Enquirer Spoilers -- update.

As of December 17, 2014, there seems to be a new pattern, as follows:

Each soap gets spoilers for only one episode of the week.
Of the five days of the week (Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri),
each soap gets spoilers for one of those weekdays,
but not the same as another soap's weekday.
And one weekday gets zero spoilers, because there are five days but only four soaps.

So it might be Monday.GH, Tues.Y&R, Wed.DOOL, Thurs.nothing, Fri.B&B.
The next week might have different weekdays assigned to different soaps,
but in a similar fashion of one weekday per soap.

HOWEVER, this doesn't work out exactly that way during a week because ...

Note that with this new system, they don't start with the beginning of a week.
Their week starts with Wednesday,
so they list part of one week for some soaps,
and part of the following week for the other soaps.
Their spoiler-week runs Wednesday through Tuesday.

Due to the Enquirer's Weds-thru-Tues week,
some soaps may get zero episodes spoiled during one Mon-thru-Fri week,
or perhaps two episodes spoiled during another Mon-thru-Fri week.

For the National Enquirer (issue dated Mon. Dec. 29)
Actually available on newsstands Wed. 12/17/2014 ...
The spoilers were listed for the following episodes:
B&B: Weds. Dec. 24, 2014.
DAYS: Thurs. Dec. 25, 2014.
GH: Fri. Dec. 26, 2014.
(Nothing for Mon. Dec. 29, 2014.)
Y&R: Tues. Dec. 30, 2014.

For the National Enquirer (issue dated Mon. Jan 5)
Actually available on newsstands Wed. 12/24/2014 ...
The spoilers were listed for the following episodes:
DAYS: Wed. Dec. 31, 2014.
(Nothing for Thurs. Jan. 1, 2015.)
GH: Fri. Jan. 2, 2015.
B&B: Mon. Jan. 5, 2015.
Y&R: Tues. Jan. 6, 2015.

That has been the pattern for the past two weeks.
I verified this by peeking at the NE at my local store's checkstand.

I don't know if this pattern will continue or not.

okay I just went to the supermarket, and it's the same pattern.
Weds through Tues spoilers.
Each soap gets one weekday, with one weekday blank.
And they're in a different order every week.

And as I said before:
Due to the Enquirer's Weds-thru-Tues week,
some soaps may get zero episodes spoiled during one Mon-thru-Fri week,
or perhaps two episodes spoiled during another Mon-thru-Fri week.

For the National Enquirer (issue dated Mon. Jan 12, 2015)
Actually available on newsstands Wed. 12/31/2014 ...
The spoilers were listed for the following episodes:

Y&R: Weds. Jan. 7, 2015
B&B: Thurs. Jan. 8, 2015
GH: Fri. Jan. 9, 2015
DAYS: Mon. Jan. 12, 2015
(Nothing for Tues. Jan. 13, 2015.)

Now that we have this odd pattern for three weeks in a row, I won't bother to reply to this thread again. Unless I learn of a change.

It's so weird. Why do they even bother to list them?

It's so weird. Why do they even bother to list them?

They are currently on a page intermingled with all the episode descriptions of all sorts of TV shows --
a "TV listings" page within their tabloid, such as a real newspaper might have.

Each week's issue shows an upcoming 7-day period, Wednesday through Tuesday.

The listings are in date order.

It's only one page, so I doubt they list all TV shows. I really didn't check to see what else is printed there because I discovered that ...

I could peek at the TV listings and scan through very quickly to find the ones for the soaps, because - next to each soap listing, they put an orange square with the word "soap".

*Why* do they bother to list them? I don't know. I guess they want you to buy their tabloid.
