Here are the things Lysie is pretty sure are important to note. Last year, Days was on an upswing at this time. They had 17 week of increases in a row compared to 2012. This year, so far we are at week 8 of losses compared to the previous year. The rest of the year has gone back and forth when compared to last year. This isn't the lowest Days has been this year, though. They were lower in July and in August. I'm telling y'all. When the ratings come out for the week that's about to air, unless something spectacular happens, it's going to look BAD. |

If only we didn't have to wait for 6 months of dross before the new writers work would kick in. |

It's still not 2.2 million in total viewers, that seems to be the magic number that makes KC act, but the demos are close to the strike zone for them to react |

I think if that HH rating drops another point, that'll be it. |

Be careful what you wish for... Dena may come back lol. Seriously though, I doubt they'll hire new writers. IMO Kenny doesn't care what happens after the 50th. |

I think he does. I think he has very little control and is responsible for very little of what he's blamed for. :shrug: I don't want Dena, but I'd prefer her to TomSell. I think they'll hire new writers if the ratings dip low enough. That's what happens. Also, Corday mentioned at one point a few years ago that he thought they should switch up writers every few years. Based on the timeline he mentioned, that's this year though I doubt it will happen until there's a financial need/benefit to do so. |

I love numbers so I looked at the average audience for the first 13 weeks of the 2013-2014 season and I compared it to the average for the first 13 weeks of the 2014-2015 season. See the evolution below. DAYS and GH lost a lot of viewers in the key demos (fall 2013 was really good for them, maybe that's part of the explanation) while B&B and Y&R are pretty much stable. DAYS Viewers: 2'599'000 --> 2'449'000 (-6%) W18-49: 608'000 --> 531'000 (-13%) W18-34: 204'000 --> 136'000 (-33%) GH Viewers: 2'924'000 --> 2'940'000 (+1%) W18-49: 747'000 --> 610'000 (-18%) W18-34: 256'000 --> 182'000 (-29%) B&B Viewers: 3'672'000 --> 3'669'000 (-0%) W18-49: 653'000 --> 646'000 (-1%) W18-34: 193'000 --> 193'000 (=) Y&R Viewers: 4'810'000 --> 4'726'000 (-2%) W18-49: 813'000 --> 798'000 (-2%) W18-34: 232'000 --> 224'000 (-3%) |

Days is so boring right now it has become background noise for me.This is the last soap I'm(or was)invested in.I really don't have the energy to re-invest in another one.So I keep hoping things will change for the better with Days,but I don't think that will happen in the next six months. But I did see something that made me chuckle today.I went over to We Love Soaps and saw the ratings there.I loved how they tried to blame the whole week on Friday's Obama speech. :rolleyes: |

Well. These are significantly Down. On Friday there was a 1.5, with under 2,000.000 viewers. Interesting to see, which storylines were featured that day, and which ones were featured on Thursday, for people to not want to tune in the following day. Also, Most of The Other Shows Did Not Go Down, which Has a Tendency to tell about Friday being exactly the day for DAYS to be down, Because Of Itself. Edited by Yoryla, Jan 4 2015, 11:28 AM.

I don't think they will worry. It is likely the numbers will go up in the next few sets of numbers anyway since they always seem to around the holidays. That and the only reason the show had a huge drop was that Friday number which makes me wonder if there was preemptions somewhere (especially since Y&R, which competes with Days at the same time in many markets had a low number on Friday too). You take that Friday number out and the number is pretty stable. Not to mention I think Days will blame any significant viewer loss on the fact AS, JS, and ED left and because they had to essentially retool the show after they left they will think they just need time to build things up. I think NBC and Corday will be patient. Also, I doubt he does anything until after the 50th. Iit is likely they have big things planned for the next year so they will probably get better numbers. It just looks bad coming off last year when the numbers were so high and just wait until we get into January because last January had the polar vortex helping things so those numbers will look even worse unless winter weather really ramps up which it might. I have heard colder weather is coming in parts so maybe Days and the soaps will catch a break there. I just don't see any changes being made until after the 50th. If the show doesn't do as well as hoped over the next year, I could see Corday panicking and NBC/Sony doing something. Until then, I don't think anything happens even if the numbers tank in the first part of the year. Part of me thinks they almost expect it given how they planned things out the last few months. It is so weird because September-March is when they go all out and, of course, May sweeps as well. After all the major exits happened, it came off like they could care less outside of Melanie and the Will/Sonny/Paul stuff. I think they are just putting all the eggs in the 50th anniversary basket and hoping that brings people back and are hoping maybe the Will/Sonny/Paul story, winter weather, and ED returning in spring tides things over until then. |

Young and the Restless actually got the new year off on a good note: suspenseful story telling and edge-of-your-seat daily mini cliff-hangers. Now we know that will all change when Pratt takes full control of the writing but for now the show is good and should be showing some strong numbers over the next couple of weeks. Well I sure hope you're wrong. At this point there doesn't seem to be anything coming up that might bring in viewers, so while the ratings are definitely going to LOOK bad when compared to last year, I'm hoping they'll also just be bad when looked at based on their own merits. They may blame the exits, but based on Corday's own words they already knew ratings were bad last summer when those actors were being featured heavily (we still havent dropped as low as they were then) and thought they were improving. They may choose to ignore it, but I'm hopeful that they won't. |

The current writers at DOOL are uninspired and only care about Daniel Jonas and Melanie Jonas, and it is showing in the viewership. I really do hope changes are made soon. Even the Sonny/Paul story-line is starting to take a nose dive when it showed promise, as well as Hope and Aiden. Im not exactly sure how the show can get back up. They haven't planned well long term with a succession plan. All the other soaps have next generation characters that are driving story. This show seems to think a bunch of new characters will help drive story and it wont. I dont care about Serena, Melanie, Ben, Jordan, etc. They have all been executed horribly. Bring on characters with true connections (like they did with Theresa and JJ, Eric, etc.) such as Belle, Shawn, Philip, Stephanie, Austin, Carrie, Kim, Shane, Steve. There is such a rich history that this show isn't using. |

Poor Days Of Our Lives? The show deserves every bit of these shitty ratings...there is nothing poor about it...if you prop and push shit stories with absolutely zero focus, direction or respect for the fans and the show's history, you deserve all the horrible ratings you can get. Poor fans...not poor show. Edited by Mitchapalooza, Jan 5 2015, 12:00 PM.
