Days opted not to count more Days than the other soaps. But even B&B's rerun got more viewers on Christmas day than Days' new episode.

That's pretty pathetic, but not surprised. The Christmas episode was a waste.

:( of course ALL soaps fall BUT DAYS...

Good to see though that they were up 150,000 viewers but still down OVER 250,000 from last year at this same point.

That being said, I am sad to see that DAYS is above B&B/GH in 18-49 now, since that is all NBC cares about.

I wonder if that will be significant at all considering the timing. I also wonder how many days Days is not going to count for the new year week.

What days did Y&R/B&B/GH not count for this week of ratings? (sorry my work blocks SON for some reason otherwise I would check)

None of the shows counted Christmas Day.

Additionally, GH didn't count Wednesday and Days didn't count Wednesday and Friday.

Btw, whose decision is it not to count some of the episodes?

Days was smart. All the soaps should've followed their lead. There have been instances in the past where Days and other soaps stupidly counted days that were vulnerable to low viewership. Why damage yourself? Just don't count them. This helps Days alot as it doesn't matter to advertisers why Days was up in demos, just that they were. I actually think Days has gotten better. It is far from good but there is some direction now. Too bad it took most of 2014 to get to that point.

Important to note here is GH. They have been falling gradually over a period of time and that is the show that has been sort of the standard bearer for soap fans wanting a return of more vets. If GH continues to slide, it just further reinforces network execs belief that younger and cheaper is the way to go rather than a more balanced cast. The sad thing is that it isn't the cast that is the big issue at GH although it is way too big. It is the stories. IMO Ron and Frank have stunk at GH and it has only gotten worse over time.

Why do soaps choose not to count some days? What's the logic behind that?

Well, it's typically days that they know are affected by outside sources. It makes their ratings look better. I don't know if there are other benefits.

Wow. Lol, Well this certainly looks different. However, it cannot *really* be counted for, since it is a matter of counting two days, versus the other soaps counting a different amount. The more realistic figures will be seen the week following this.

Even if they had counted Wednesday and Friday, the rating still would have been 2,420,000, an increase of +100K from the previous week. So it still would be considered a "good" week for their ratings.

Regardless of the increase over last week for DOOL, Id be curious to see how they are doing quarterly. Week to week ratings are not a very accurate representation of viewership or what networks look at. They look at quarters and yearly ratings.

Anyone know how they are doing for the quarter or season compared to last year?

As they got renewal for two years, they mostly care about fall 2015 which is accidentally their 50th.
