Peggy McCay as lead? Did she even have a story?

Daniel Cosgrove as lead seems wrong too, but I've ignored Aiden, so maybe it makes sense.
I thought the same thing about Peggy McCay. The Alzheimer storyline was in 2013, wasn't it? I can see her for a lifetime achievement award but leading actress, no.

Didn't the Nick Fallon storyline end already before the 2014 year started? Not sure but he did win already last year or am I mistaken about that too?

The nominations for Days are a joke! Where are the real stars that should have been nominated? I'm sorry but this whole nomination for Days is seriously flawed and it's almost like they are setting themselves up to lose. WHY?
Ehh, I'm not surprised by their nominations. It wasn't exactly a banner year for them. I feel like the only actors who got and delivered anything emmy worthy were AS, BB, CB and maybe EM. JS phoned in just about all his performances so I can see why he didn't submit. KM, AZ, ED and JL didn't get anything 'emmy' worthy. I feel like GV may have been the only snub from Days.

On the other soaps, Sharon Case is the obvious snub. And I'd have given Don Diamont a pre-nom before Steve Burton.
I wouldn't call JL's absence a snub, but I disagree that she wasn't given material. I'm in the middle regarding Ari, though. I haven't care for her portrayal for a while, but I do think she had material early in the year. I don't think it was her best work, though.

Did someone really name their child HUNGER or is that supposed to be Hunter?

Interesting that 39 of the prenoms are from the CBS daytime soaps and the rest is divided between DOOL and GH.

I wonder what would happen if the number of nominations per category were limited to three.

I personally would love that.

Would add a lot more prestige to be nominated.

I mean, let's face it, with only four soaps on the air, we've seen some really questionable nominees make the final cut over the past couple of years.

What scenes do you think JL could've submitted? I'm honestly drawing a blank.

The only big scene I can think of that AZ had was Eric confronting Nicole about the shredded papers. I've seen AZ do much better work than that, though. Honestly, the last time I thought AZ really had great material and delivered was with the miscarriage of 2012.

Performance-wise? None. But she had a lot of material when she tried to kill John.

What happened to the category "Outstanding Guest Performer in a DS"? No entrants? Or will be announced later?

A poster at GolddDerby forums contacted NATAS and inquired about it. All people submitted in that category are automatically prenominated, however their names will not be announced publicly. Only the final nominees will be announced.

Thanks.
It makes sense, especially, in case of 6-7 submissions, for example.

According to the person who corresponded with NATAS, there are actually over 10 submissions, but they do not want to reveal them for some reason.

Edit: So that it wouldn't seem like I'm making stuff up, here's the link to GoldDerby where the whole thing is explained. Read the posts made by FreemanGriffin: http://www.goldderby.com/forum/topics/view/10506/page:2

I'm glad to see Tyler Christopher on this list. He does have his moments, and he was great during the Brik engagement party when the truth about Ben came out.

Well, Eileen Not Submitting Doesn't Come As A Surprise Since She Won Last Year, However, Given How Competitive She Is, I Would Have *Hoped* To See Her There!!! ###STAR Status!!! To Elevate The Awards!!!
Do we know she didn't submit?

Sick of people saying Chrishell Stause(Jordan, DAYS) is terrible. IMHO (and everyone has their opinion), I think she's a good actress. It's the writers whose storyline sucks, not Stause. Their focus should've remained on Jordan, not split her & Rafe up and focusing on abuser, murderer, stereotypical hillbilly. Clyde. And not changing the story several times. This stupid secret that she was a driving the truck in an accident that happened to kill her mother and unborn Clyde baby son...IS NOT MURDER Clyde. Clyde having EJ's employee kill EJ IS murder. Clyde is one of the worst characters ever on DAYS, an abuser, stereotype. James Read is a great actor, but his storyline is dead awful.

Shame that B&B Rena Sofer(Quinn) isn't on the list. DAYS stars Eileen Davidson(Kristen), Jen Lilley(Theresa), Kristian Alfonso(Hope) & James Scott(ex-EJ), are not pre-nominated. Surprised GH's Maurice Benard(Sonny), Vinessa Antoine(Jordan), Robin Mattson(Heather), Roger Howarth(Franco) & Constance Towers(Helena) are nowhere to be seen. Also a damn shame that Y&R's Sharon Case(Sharon), Joshua Morrow(Nicholas) aren't here either. No way were Tracey Bregman, Melissa Claire Egan and definitely Peggy McCay (Not McKay, hate people typing that!, pet peeve lol) LEAD this year. Michelle Stafford & Finola Hughes weren't SUPPORTING. Tyler Christopher LEAD, uh no. Daniel Cosgrove LEAD, don't think so. Billy Miller was only on Y&R for 3 wks, shouldn't been eligible imho. In YOUNGER ACTOR, is laughable that Terrell Ransom Jr (Theo, DAYS) or MAX PAGE (Reed, Y&R) who were barely on this year, especially Page are in the pre-noms. What were their scenes?! GH's Nichlas Bechtel (Spencer) & the actress who plays Josslyn, can't think of her name right name, should've gotten pre-noms imho. So with what we've been given, here's my picks in each category. I've put my pick for winner in Bold.

Actors submit in the category that they wish; I believe there should be a minimum episode count for the lead category and a maximum episode count for the supporting category (with some formula/exemptions for maternity leaves and major illnesses) - this would prevent category fraud. I would have been happy for Peggy McCay had she submitted in the Supporting Category.

With that said, let me get this out of the way: Alison Sweeney is WINNING the Best Actress Emmy for 2014. She deserves to win and will win. I know: she's always been snubbed in the past, but this year she delivered at least 12 different episodes that were strong enough for her to win with. I love Maura West, and the induced labor epi or either of the two narration (who killed Connie) episodes would be super strong, but it's Ali's year. I will trade in all the other categories to see Ali finally WIN her long overdue Emmy!

I am extremely unhappy with Y&R getting 22 of the pre-nominations, esp. 6 of the Lead Actor pre-noms. I fear that Y&R might get ALL the nominations in the category, which would be robbery of Jason Thompson, who deserves to win for Gabriel's death scenes or Robin's leaving scenes. At first, I thought it was odd that Tyler Christopher submitted in lead, but he did have some really terrific scenes with Kellie Thiebaud's Britt throughout the year (and some other really good ones with Rebecca Herbst's Elizabeth as well). As for Daniel Cosgrove, while he wasn't on enough to be placed in lead, he did have one terrific Emmy-reel episode in which Aiden recounted his wife's death.

I am most happy about: Alison Sweeney! Blake Berris! Chad Duell! HALEY PULLOS! (she's my pick for Younger Actress, for Ric's "death", esp. the reading of the letter), Justin Hartley! (he's really come in to his own as a great recast of Adam), Maura West!, Nancy Lee Grahn!, Freddie Smith!, Camila Banus!, and Casey Moss!

The ones I am unhappiest about: Heather Tom, Peter Bergman, Steve Burton, John McCook, Bryton James, Kristoff St. John, Ashleigh Brewer, Ashlyn Pearce, Hunter King (groan! not again!)... and then the perplexing case of some younger actors who submitted when they have material whatsoever: Conor Kalopsis, Max Page, and Terrell Ransom, Jr.

Here are my nominees:
Actress:
Tracey Bregman, Y&R
*Alison Sweeney, Days
Gina Tognoni, Y&R
Maura West, GH
Laura Wright, GH

Actor:
Tyler Christopher, GH
Justin Hartley, Y&R
Christian LeBlanc, Y&R
Billy Miller, Y&R (it's CRAZY he submitted in lead for only one month's work! BUT his work was stellar)
*Jason Thompson, GH

Supporting Actress:
*Nancy Lee Grahn, GH
Amelia Heinle, Y&R
Finola Hughes, GH
Cady McClain, Y&R
Michelle Stafford, GH

Supporting Actor:
*Blake Berris, Days
Darin Brooks, B&B
Chad Duell, GH
Eric Martsolf, Days

Younger Actress:
Kristen Alderson, GH
Camila Banus, Days
Camryn Grimes, Y&R
*Haley Pullos, GH

Younger Actor:
Bryan Craig, GH
Casey Moss, Days
Tequan Richmond, GH
*Freddie Smith, Days
