GH (Ron Carlivati & Team) won the WGA Award this year, beating fellow nominee DAYS (Christopher Whitesell & Team; Tomlin was not nominated). http://michaelfairmansoaps.com/news/general-hospital-wins-wga-award-for-best-writing-daytime-drama/2015/02/14/ Edited by Mitchapalooza, Feb 16 2015, 02:50 PM.

Are they even in the union? Did they write during a writers strike? I can't remember. |

Carlivati is in the union. During the strike, it was Tomlin who wrote OLTL. He's the one that decided to knock up Starr, wheras RC would have originally went with a Starr/Cole/Langston triangle. |

So, they couldn't be nominated anyway. I know there's some that write for Days that are in the union but they can't. Was it last year that Days won and RC blew a fit on twitter? |

I believe Whitesell, Broderick, etc. are still part of the union, so they were able to nominated. |

I think DAYS entire writing staff is eligible save for Gary Tomlin. |

They were eligible and nominated besides Tomlin. They won this same award last year and RC threw a bitch fit. I still don't get how B&B gets snubbed for this, but whatever. I'm bummed Carlivati won after being shitty about it last year, but given the competition I will say they probably deserved it. |

No, not only Tomlin, JM Ford as well. BTW, both current Days Headwriters Dena Higley and Josh Griffith aren't eligible. I wonder if "Days" will submit their shows for the WGA  . |

If the rest of the writing team is part of the union, I can see the team being eligible. |

The fact that writers were ousted for eternity for staying with their soaps (almost all the writers who ignored the strike were on soaps) I find ridiculous. Sure the primetime shows suffered, but they only produce about 20 eppis per year. Their scheduling could have been toyed with. Soaps do almost 250 eppis per year. |

^I agree....the writers strike could have been much more damaging to soaps than to primetime shows. |
