I saw a news story on BBC today that the soap EastEnders had nearly 12 million viewers for the Thursday episode as the killer of a major character was revealed. Twelve million! And in the UK, no less. Clearly soaps are still viable properties internationally, so why can't we get ours out of the ratings gutter?
To be completely fair, EastEnders are:

A) having a 30th anniversary week
B) having a culmination of a 10 month murder mystery with the killer revealed
C) having a LIVE week (with 1 full live show and 4 other shows with live and pretaped scenes mixed)
D) EE is shown in primetime

With all of this said, this D) point is the crucial one, IMO.
sounds like NBC should try and shake things up with a new nightly 30 min telenovela. Couldn't be any worse for them than what they have now.

If any of u are still a fan of Days and want to help the ratings , try doing this what i do , i open all of my tv and let it play of couse only see it on one tv but i have all 3 tv on :) try this its could help a lot ,
It won't. That's not how ratings are determined.
Speaking of ratings. Is there anybody on DR who belongs to the "Nielsen homes" (sample)?
I was a Nielsen home back in the early 90's , I had a diary where I had to
keep track of the shows I watched . Then a few years later I moved an hour away & was
contacted about being a Neilsen home , that was probably in the mid to late 90's.

I am one in Canada for BBM who does the ratings here....we fill out diaries but only 4 times a year for 4 weeks in a row...they pay us as well which is nice.

Only diaries? No digital devices (Set Meters) connected to TV?

I'm not sure if they have set top devices for other members, they must since they have weekly ratings.

We only get the diaries every 3 months. We have been doing it for 4 years now.

Because the writing for DOOL SUCKS..They are not telling Good, exciting stories that keep viewers on the edge of the seat.. Instead they Gross us out by making us watch Old Eve and JJ have sex Blleecchh :puke: :soapbox: Then they try and Bore us to death with Goofball Clyde, And the very VERY anticlimatic plot of Haiden, The So unappealing Serena and her obsession with and elephant.. I mean COME ON?? :headbang: :headbang:
No real Mystery, No Passion or Romance, No thrills or chills or excitement... They just keeping giving the fans the :flipoff: Ignoring beloved favorites and Vets...TPTB REFUSE to hear our voices and write FOR the fans.. I mean if they continue this slow death march they may as well just kill it now.
