On SON they said that GH's Tuesday ratings were affected by a funeral that preempted it in NY. |

Something about Daylight Savings Time that just drops ratings during all time periods. Unless you're Empire. But yeah, these are awful. |

Pretty much what I expected with Daylight Savings Time. I hope Days won't go lower than this but most of the storylines are boring me to death because they suck and/or the pacing is terrible. I hope they have some really big stuff coming up for May sweeps and new storylines for the summer or I'm not sure the show will be salvageable by the time the episodes written by Higriff start airing. This makes me sad. |

It was Cardinal Egan's funeral. They originally said that it was basketball that affected the ratings, but then retracted because there were no NCAA games that week. Can't even imagine what the ratings will be like for this past week when the games actually were on. The slide continues and is well deserved for the crap we are being given. |

Or it could be because Days sucks. |

It's probably a combination like it always is. The show definitely sucks, but local pre-emptions and Daylight Savings do also typically negatively affect the ratings. Just like when the show is doing well, it's probably a combination of actual interest in the show and outside factors. Days actually had a slightly better week than the other soaps compared to last week...which is good for them, because if they'd seen the drops the other shows had... If they hadn't already replaced TomSell, they'd be replacing them now. |

It's ironic that they're replacing TomSell with Dena, who was fired because she brought the show down to 1.5 ratings, and sometimes less. I'm guessing they're going to go up when Bo and Steve return, but we'll see for how long and what the storylines will be. More than likely Steve is coming back to help out with his troubled teen son, and Bo is going to try to repair his marriage. It's predictable, but I do wish Days well. |

It is, but I mean..TomSell brought the show down that far WITH Dena and TPTB brought them back when MarDar failed. |

Maybe people feel lack of sleep and take a nap during their lunch break instead of watching the shows LOL. |

In the old days, it screwed up their VCRs, but that's not really a legit reason anymore, lol. |

Yeah the only stories I'm 100% invested in are WilSon/Paul & Lucas/Adrienne/Justin. I love AZ & MA, but the 2 losers they're saddled with bring them down. Teeth's involvement in the Thrady story keeps me from enjoying that. Hopefully once ED starts airing, these writers didn't blow it. :shame: Edited by DJsMommy, Mar 22 2015, 12:17 AM.

They'll be wishing for these numbers once Dena gets settled.

Can someone explain what Daylight Savings time has to do with the ratings? I can see prime time shows being affected but Days is on during the day |

Are these live + same day ratings? I've never really cared because its a level playing field for each show so that doesn't matter. But to answer this question, people will start watching TV later at night and might skip an episode or two on their DVRs or marathon them. |

The NCAA Tournament started last week but college basketball was very much a factor in some areas for these numbers. Conference tournaments were occurring causing many local preemptions ( primarily in the south like NC/VA). I saw others on other boards posting about this as well and, somehow, every year, people forget it's not just the first week of the NCAA tournament that causes preemptions but the conference tournaments do as well as some networks do carry some of those games in some pretty big markets that can cause some ratings decreases. GH and Days got hurt in these numbers and, coincidentally, they historically see strong viewership in the south and it's in the south where it seems the most preemptions occur for these conference tournaments. They even interrupt primetime in favor of basketball for these conference tournaments. I wouldn't worry. The networks know this and it is likely Days and GH will rebound in the next set of numbers even with the NCAA tournament as competition because the NCAA tournament games are only on CBS and the Turner stations whereas conference tournament games can be broadcast on many different networks, hence why preemption is more of a factor in these numbers. |
