Assuming they did vote with each other, I wonder why Y&R allied with GH and not Days? It seemed like CBS/Days were always allies the past few years. Something had to go down. I almost feel like B&B and Days got caught in the middle of something. I don't know. Maybe Days was so busy pulling out all the stops for Sweeney that they let gaining support for other acting nominees fall by the wayside and that is why they only got 4. In past years, they were clearly trying to get as many nods as possible while this year it seemed clear they were all in on Sweeney, so much so that they didn't nominate anyone against her (AZ) that could steal her spot nor did they gave anyone else leading material for much of 2014 like Sweeney got. |

Sorry, an unpopular opinion but maybe they started to vote more honestly now. |

:blulaugh: :blulaugh: :blulaugh: No way in hell...if they did Sweeney would not be nominated and Blake Berris would be the frontrunner for the win. |

I'll never believe Y&R voted with GH :blulaugh: . Never. Re: AS, what conspirational theories do we have? I, personally, think she was nominated for "quantity". |

So to add to the reactions: Happy for Ali. Peggy had a great reel, but it's the definition of category fraud. Happy for Freddie. Thrilled for Camila. Think she has the best shot of all four if she chose the right reel from Gabi's confession. |

There is no way in hell that Y&R/Phelps would align with a soap on a rival network.

I won't comment on the Drama Series category because every shows was automatically nominated. However, I don't want to see Days win, even though I watch it. The award for Best Drama Series should go to a show that is overall great. Days is in terms of quality quite possibly the worst looking show on TV right now. It would be unfair to give an award to that. Lead Actress is pretty much expected. I'm glad Sweeney finally got that nomination after all these years. She was the last "blacklisted" actress not to have received a nomination. I'm so glad we now don't have to speculate about her possibly not being liked in the industry. I'd kinda like to see her win that trophy. Overall, it'd be cool to see Days win back-to-back in that category. Regarding Peggy McCay, I agree she doesn't belong in that category. I guess she feels she belongs there due to her status as a veteran actress. But, I can't say she doesn't deserve it. She's the type of an actress who gets material once a year and, in spite of her age, kills it. Lead Actor is same old, same old. Supporting Actress pleasantly surprises me with the inclusion of LoCicero, Hughes and Godfrey. I just pray Godfrey has chosen a better reel this time around. I'm not sure what to think of Supporting Actor. No Berris, no Martsolf. I feel like they went with 3 familiar faces and Duell just happened to pop up there. Younger Actress is a joke without Camryn Grimes. Camila Banus could win this, but I'm not sure how I'd feel about that. On the one hand, she would deserve it. On the other hand, Days has had better younger actresses who would deserve the title of an Emmy winner over her. But, alas, those that did get nominated got nominated back when winning an Emmy wasn't as easy. Then again, the voters could go the familiar route and simply give the trophy to a familiar face (King or Alderson). As far as Younger Actor goes, this could be an interesting category. The reels were fantastic in this category last year and these four guys are consistently good. Guest Performer: Ummm... Should they just rename this to "Best 80s TV Star Trying to Make a Comeback"? I felt that this was an interesting tweet from Kristen Alderson. Given that she is nominated this year, you can't say she's bitter, but I'm guessing there's something up that provoked her to put this out there. [twitter=krisalderson/status/582988958973358081] |

I don't think it is that hard to believe...JFP used to work at GH...she could have easily worked out a deal with that show since she already knows everyone there. |

I disagree...it is clear they have aligned with DAYS/NBC before....what is to stop them from joining up with GH/ABC. Maybe relations are a bit frostier than normal between JFP and Brad Bell at B&B. Edited by Mitchapalooza, Mar 31 2015, 03:48 PM.

I love how much of the reaction to this is speculation about the politics behind-the-scenes that made it all happen the way it did. It's like Game of Thrones, apparently, all for an award that's barely televised the past few years. |

It must be important...DAYS used to never campaign and now over the last 5 years they really seem to have upped their game...perhaps this wins them points with their networks. Edited by Mitchapalooza, Mar 31 2015, 03:51 PM.

It's still amazing that McCay scored a Lead Actress nom. AGAIN. It just boggles the mind. But, I'm sure she picked a good reel (the WilSon wedding). Sweeney's nomination is good news, but not for 2014. I'm going to consider this a reward for her 22 years at Days, for the times where I thought she deserved a nomination and didn't get one. Super excited for Freddie Smith and Camila Banus - very well deserved! CB had one hell of a reel to submit for this category. I wouldn't be surprised to see her take home the gold. Eric Martsolf not being nominated isn't a surprise. Brady was an absolute dirtbag in 2014, and not an enjoyable one. Blake Berris, once again, was snubbed. |
