I'm sorry, but Alison Sweeney's reel was not all it was hyped up to be. It's actually pretty bad. And I'm usually a fan of her as an actress. It's weird that she's had much, much heavier material in the past and did better with it than with the fake-out episode. That episode as a whole was just too overwrought and over-the-top. Peggy McCay's reel is amazing, but is SO short. Plus, this just isn't her category. I highly doubt she will score a win. |

I just watched the reels for Lead Actress. I'm interested in hearing what others think of these. To me, Gina Tognoni was the best. She definitely looks like the best actress out of the group. I was surprised with Maura West's reel. She had to have had better material than that. I've only watched GH sporadically during this last year or so but saw better scenes from her than what she submitted. Laura Wright was just okay to me. Peggy's is so short it's hard to see her factoring in. I watched Alison Sweeney's last (because it was 25 minutes long), and her reel came off as comical to me in comparison to the others. I wish she had submitted the scenes where she confronted EJ in jail. Having said that, I'm sure the people that are voting on this will be eating her reel up because they seem to love hammy and OTT. Anyways IMO, Gina Tognoni should win. Edited by Restless84, Apr 9 2015, 11:11 PM.

Lead Actor - I actually liked Tony Geary's reel, and I didn't expect to. I usually think he's way OTT, but it worked there, I guess. Of course it's a VERY stark contract to Christian LeBlanc's, but I liked his, too. I was honestly bored during Billy Miller's. It was fine, but I was bored by the whole thing - probably a symptom of not really being invested in the characters. Then again, maybe not - because I do know a little more about Patrick/Robin, and I was bored with it, too. Maybe I wasn't in the mood for this tonight. He was good, though. |

Lead Actress - man oh man. Some context would really be nice for the first part of Peggy's reel. I still don't really understand why people made such a big deal about this. It's not even a performance. She's literally telling a story. It's a good story, but it's not exactly dramatic or complex. I'm not watching 25 minutes of Ali again. I watched it the first time and didn't care for it, so I can't imagine I'd feel differently now. Gina Tognoni's reel is SO similar to AS's...and so much better. Eerily similar. The part with Summer is fine enough, but the stuff with Jack is really good, IMO. I was expecting to be blown away by Maura West, but I'm just not a big fan of MB. She was really good, though, and not many actors can pull of the kind of meltdown she was doing. I also expected to enjoy Laura Wright's reel more than I did. She was fine, but the other actors were distracting. |

God forgive me for saying it, but when people watch Ali's reel they will understand why she was never nominated before. I thought her scenes in the morgue were better, but even then she isn't GT or MW. Peggy's reel was good, if she were going for supporting actress. She is usually solid in whatever scenes she graces, and I like her, but like so many of you have said, this isn't her category. You can't put a square peg in a round hole, and you can't look at 4 minutes of acting and give the award Peggy. It was touching, but not Emmy worthy. However, in the right circumstances, I could see her doing very well. I have always loved Maura West, ever since she was on ATWT. She is this eras equal to Eileen Fulton in so many ways, and I think she will win. Her scenes were solid, and she is one of the best in the business at conveying emotion. As for Sweeney, she's done better in past years than this, but I still can't think of a time when I felt she was the best and/or most talented actress on daytime. Hell, I can't even remember thinking she was ever the best on Days. I was rooting for her, but the scenes posted don't deliver. |

A great big thank you to DaytimeRoyalty for helping a Canadian fan out. We are unable to watch the Poptv Emmy reels and you guys offered to help me and thousands of soap fans out. I am appalled the the networks who make money off al of daytime tv of all kinds cannot be bothered to air the awards, let alone advertise them. Thanks DR for doing what the networks wouldn't do. Best wishes from @Shortcanuck! |

I'm glad Chad picked out the scene he did. He did a fantastic job in the scenes when Michael confronted Sonny, and when Michael found out the truth at the Cranco wedding disaster. I do think Bryan Craig should have picked the scene where he confronts Sonny and Ava about Crypt Sex. I think he more owned that scene. |

I'm sure I could find this if I looked around for it, but what are the rules for submissions? I thought they had to submit all of their scenes from one episode, but that doesn't appear to be the case. |

For the prenomination round, they have to submit a reel lasting up to 4 minutes with material from two episodes (no montage!). For the Blue Ribbon round, they have to submit all scenes from one episode (or two consecutive episodes, in case of B&B); no more than 25% of the reel can be flashbacks and no internal editing is allowed. The last part is the most controversial one, as some reels this year appear to have some scenes edited out. Chandler Massey's reel last year was heavily internally edited; he submitted only one scene from an episode in which he appears in at least 5 scenes. |

Nothing new but here we have a quote:

The rulebook says for the Blue Ribbon round, it's supposed to be all the scenes in the episode. The only scenes you can omit are those where the character has no dialogue, such as if they are just standing in the background and don't speak in a certain scene. |

I doubt it, and I'm sure there are loopholes. It only stood out to me because Ali's reel should technically be almost a full episode. |
