Demo is not great, but at least they recovered in total viewers. |

They're also not too far from where they were last year...which gives some perspective. But that demo... |

I mean...we keep saying that we wish they'd just scrap whatever is coming up, and I don't think they would, but that kind of rating is the kind of thing that leads to big decisions. |

I guess the key demo doesn't care about Kristen. Sad, sad numbers in the middle of May sweeps. I hope it's get better soon with Paige finding out about Jeve, also Paul returning to Salem but I don't have much hope. |

Days might hit zero viewers in the demo if they don't start cutting some stuff. I doubt they can just scrap full episodes. I'm sure some of Higley's stuff has to do with things that happen between now and then. They could probably cut out a lot of it though. They're way passed the time for desperate measures. |

Maybe, but not necessarily. If she pitched a story, she wouldn't have the stories that hadn't aired yet to base anything on. |

Just dialogue would be tricky. Nothing referenced from the months that they would be erasing? I mean I wouldn't blame her since it's likely horrible, but that would be extreme. |

This is looking ominous. I don't think we are looking at immanent cancellation thanks to the contract and the big anniversary coming up, but still this just isn't good. We are down 99,000 from this time last year in total viewers, which isn't terrible in that light. However, when you look at total viewers, and see every soap up over last year while Days languishes receding viewership, it's not a pretty picture. Then, that demo. That very, very, very bad demo that could choke the life out of any drama, much less one on a network like NBC. NBC is a double-edge sword for Days. On one hand, the entire network is so disheveled they rarely have a chance to look at Days and invent a replacement. They have too many problems to try to fix a problem like Days, that up till the last three months, hasn't been a costly or embarrassing problem. Now these ratings are screaming there's trouble. The problem cannot be ignored. On another network, Days would either be a much healthier show or off the air by now. Days may have had higher ratings through the years for example, on CBS.. because it would have had a larger pool of viewers due to a stronger overall line-up. The lack of a strong support structure with other stable serials kept Days from reaching #1 overall in the 1990s. However, on CBS or ABC, Days would have possibly been toast years ago. It may nor have survived to 2010 with the ratings record it has had over the last 16 years or so. This is superfluous, because the facts are facts.....Days is on NBC. NBC is in the shitter and has it's hands full with much bigger problems than Days. Sadly, now Days is getting so entrenched in cancellation territory, NBC may feel forced to act and not renew the show after this contract expires......Unless Days does what it has done so many times before, and pulls a miracle renaissance that will keep it on the air. NBC will likely cancel this show if major improvements in the demos and overall viewers fail to occur. We know this show has a minute to turn things around, and the big 5-0 is fast approaching. The thing that makes me nervous for this show that I have watched my entire life is the viewership patterns that govern daytime. Every time a soap falls off a ratings cliff now, it gets harder and harder to re-emerge and stabilize with healthy numbers. I hope they pull it off. I really do. I love this damned old boing ass show. It has been a constant, and has at times been the most addictive and fun show on television to follow. Here's hoping whatever "Hail Mary" they throw scores some ratings points. |

Higley won't help recover that demo. The idea to scrap Tomsell's shit is good but replacing it with Higley's work is to re-arrange deck chairs on the titanic. Maybe they should think about getting new, new writers. |

I would just skip 2 months after May. 1. Continue with the regularly scheduled episode until the end of May: 12601 FRI 5/29/15 2. Skip 50 episodes (12602-12651), make them available all at once on hulu.com 3. Air recap shows of the skipped episodes that short week in June when they have preemptions. PREEMPTED THU 6/4/15 FRENCH OPEN TENNIS SEMIFINALS PREEMPTED FRI 6/5/15 FRENCH OPEN TENNIS SEMIFINALS 4. Air the final weeks of TomSell / first weeks of HiGriff before the end of June. 5. Promote the hell out of the big returns, that should be on time for July sweeps. |

I like this idea, a lot. I usually would think that skipping episodes and taking time off could severely damage a daytime serial, but Days is in such bad shape this idea is preferable to airing the suck-ass shows that we all know are coming during June/July. I always thought that the taping schedule, even if it saved money, would be the undoing of this show. Now, we have a bunch of episodes waiting in the can to air that we know will fall flat, and no change of direction for the show really coming until September. The bleeding likely hasn't stopped yet, so lets hold our breath. However, IF they were to leave the air for a 6 weeks, they'd be off the air, but free from damaging news about the horrific ratings during this period. It's better for Days to go black for a while in this scenario. Corday has touted overhauls, and plans to save this show starting way back in 1992. I remember how he did an interview with SOD, and that issue had Marlena/RealRoman/John on the cover. The headline said "How Days Of Our Lives Is Saving Itself From Becoming A Daytime Dinosaur". The idea: The supercouple era had ended, and the show would go back to focusing on triangles and long story arcs. It was the only plan to save this show that ever worked. Now, Corday better be making calls. I never wanted to see another article about overhauling this show, but given the ratings right now, and the very bland feel of this show, he needs to make the rounds. This is getting desperate, and waiting until Labor Day to turn it around may seriously kill any chance for renewal. |

Women 18-34 Viewers 1. Y&R 248,000 (+14,000/+90,000) 2. GH 184,000 (-57,000/-19,000) 3. B&B 161,000 (+19,000/+10,000) 4. DAYS 99,000 (-26,000/-11,000) Women 18-34 Rating 1, Y&R 0.73 (+.04/+.26) 2. GH 0.54 (-.17/-.06) 3. B&B 0.47 (+.05/+.02) 4. DAYS 0.29 (-.08/-.03) <—— ties low * _____________________________________________________________ THAT is awful. I just really looked at 18-34, and that is almost as bad as it gets. I was only analyzing 18-45, but this rating is just hysterically bad. The rumblings are right, Days could hit a zero in this demo before all is said and done. OUCH |

Days is closing in on the point of no return. If they continue to bottom out then even great numbers for the 50th won't save them. The announcement might come in February but minds will already be made up by then. |

IDK how they track anything in the "key demo" (I've heard that's not actually the key demo anymore). It's always all over the place. Obviously this is the lowest it's been, but it fluctuates so much, IDK how they make connections between it and what's on screen. |

I'm really not sure if material from new writers will automatically improve their ratings. |
