To be fair, they didn't make it so Colleen knowingly lied. Just that whoever told her that her son had been adopted by the Alamains had either lied or been mistaken.

They scrapped a whole story just for Brady and Theresa, huh? Nice job, writers.
They've since been fired though. When's the next time we'll ever have an Academy Award-winning actor on the show if you end up making them a big liar?? :) Was it that she lied? I thought she was just wrong.

I don't, but I lurked around a little in 1996-1997ish. My favorite memory from the soap interwebs back then was a Bo and Hope fansite that had a tiny pixel gif of Bo that would walk across the screen and then pee on something. I think it was a very early "screw you Corday!" sentiment.
Those are the years when I started lurking pages to read spoilers/recaps, but didnt know there was actual message boards with people chatting. I wish I had known back then those were out there lol
I knew there were boards, but I thought you'd have to be crazy to get online and talk about TV. Turns out I was right. Oh, we are crazy. If my IRl friends knew about me and my days twitter and message board stuff, they would disown me in a heartbeat lol

I apologize to Grandpa Shawn's sister then if it wasn't she who was the liar!! :)

I recall some random board where they used to post naked pictures of soap stars. It wasn't Soaphunks.net, it was something else. Been trying to remember the name for years. Does anyone remember the name of that board?
Expanding on this, thinking about it now I'm remembering a flamingo for some reason. Please tell me someone else knows what the hell I'm talking about. I remember those boards. It's been so long since I have watched.

I still prefer the Daphne DiMera story for John's backstory but that's two rewrites ago lol It really was perfect imo, it respected the alamain backstory and created a plausible explanation for how John ended up in the Dimera orbit. I wonder how things would have turned out if Brash and Cwikly had been allowed to remain instead of having Higley 1/JER 2.

I actually found my first bb around 1991-92. On Prodigy. Can't remember exactly the date but it was after Hope died in Ernesto's magician trick, and Carly had just come to Salem. Went in like a pollyanna so excited to talk with other DAYS fans, then learned on my first day, on dial-up, how bbs can be, let's say a little difficult. Some things don't change. LOL :drunk: :drunk: :drunk: But I must have been a masochist even then cause I continued with the BBs until Peter left and rkk came in. Then I quit until Peter returned. I still come and go based on if I am watching or not. Normally with Peter leaving I would quit but with Bo being given a beautiful goodbye I may stay around and watch. Like the actor coming in as Phillip. Want to see Hope exact revenge. Can't believe I have been on line for almost 25 years. I found the show in 91ish. Watched when I could, but I was only 11 at the time, so mostly on days off or summers those first years. My first memory of Bo that I can remember was RKK.. Then I remember being roped in with the Carly buried alive story in 93. Thats when I started VCRing the show. I didnt become a "Bo fan" until PR replaced RKK in 94. There was just something about him (and KA together) that pulled me in. Bo(pe) fan for life after that.
I had no idea people talked about soap opera's online like this until just like 6 years ago. I knew about the fan pages and spoiler boards, but not the "chatting" and definitely not twitter lol It was a whole new crazy world once i stepped into that. And fun for sure ;)

I don't know how I am going to deal with no Days until Monday! The show has been so good and there is such exciting stuff next week.
I forget if you made a guess before, but what are you hoping Abigail's baby will eventually be named?? Okay, this is hard because I had names picked out for a baby girl, lol.
I'll go with Thomas William.
I would also throw out Chad Jr., but the paternity of the baby hasn't been settled.

But I loved that Daphne story and like you said it made sense of how he ended up a DiMera target.

I know you haven't watched since the Franco mess but you should tune back in. It's pretty good right now.

Since this is a place to randomly discuss Days, I have always wondered something. I have been a J&M fan for as long as I can remember and whatever part of their history I missed the first time I have gone back and watched. With that said is there a specific reason why everyone started calling J&M's daughter Isabella, Belle? She was named after Brady's mom Isabella and Isabella was either called by her full name or Izzy or Izzy B, so I just wondered. I don't know if it was Marlena's idea to start calling her Belle or if everyone just kind of started calling her that after awhile. I have always been curious about that. I love both names; Isabella and Belle so it doesn't bother me that's she's called Belle for short. Thanks for your feedback!

A random question; which did you hate more, the Langan era or the Tomsell era. For me it is Tomsell hands down. I remember the anger at Langan back in the early 2000s and jubilation when he was fired, but 2014 is hands down the worse year ever for me. TomSell. I found Langan's show really goofy and dippy and I thought his teen set was obnoxious as all fuck, but TomSell was deeply, deeply demoralizing for me.
Looking back, I can say that Langan did have some sense of community, and was totally an improvement on SSM. But to think, we might have had Lorraine Broderick ...

Ha! I did that about 12 years ago (for the first time). At multiple sites. It was just before my entrance to soap boards.
Why was I thinking you had been around longer than that? I can't believe I've been doing this since 1996/1997. First the AOL boards and the Soap Opera Digest chat on AOL. (Anybody remember those?) Then Coffeerooms and SONARC followed by SON and finally DR. And I recall some random board where they used to post naked pictures of soap stars. It wasn't Soaphunks.net, it was something else. Been trying to remember the name for years. Does anyone remember the name of that board? The good old days when SON and SNS formed out of the rubble of SONARC and all that drama.
And who can forget Weird Wends Days spoiler page and of course Dustin's....and Coffeerooms were always my go to place outside of SNS/SON/SONARC.
Crazy how the days boards have evolved.

SInce Kenny mentioned old boards earlier, I wanted to ask if anyone around here ever visited or posted at the Turtle Run boards in the very late 90s early 2000s. That was my soap board I ever visited in 1999, and it's crazy to think I've been reading the posts of some people like Kenny through various boards for nearly 15 years. Omg YES! turtle run...I went there ALL the time...totally forgot about that site. I feel so old!

Will is William but he was named after Billie Reed, because when he was born, he was thought to be Austin Reed's son. For the first part of his life, nobody knew of any connection to Bill Horton. And Billie is her name, not Wilhelmina, but she named her *business* "Countess Wilhelmina". Although technically I don't think the show has ever said Billie and Austin's birthnames ... Kate named them something at birth, but Curtis changed their names when he stole them as children from Kate. So Billie is the name that Curtis gave Billie, and that has been her legal name since she was a child.
And yes I agree that Isabella Black is nicknamed Belle so as to distinguish her from Isabella Toscano Black.

Got another question for you all!
I found some of 2008 Ireland stuff on YT. So, Colleen was Shawn's sister who was in love with Santo Dimera (Stefano's brother?) and had his son - John Black, right? But now John is looking for his parents, so what happened to this whole Ireland story??
Thanks again in advance!
They made Colleen a liar all so Brady and Theresa could date. Nice way to treat a late Brady relative, and Shirley Jones no less!!
And here we are doing the John Black story all over again. I wish they'd pick a story and stick with it.
