Yes Sonny's name is Jackson, as a way to name him after Jack.
He chose to use the second syllable "Son" to form "Sonny" as his nickname.

A random question; which did you hate more, the Langan era or the Tomsell era. For me it is Tomsell hands down. I remember the anger at Langan back in the early 2000s and jubilation when he was fired, but 2014 is hands down the worse year ever for me.
Well I did hate Langan so much. As for TomSell I despised them so much that because of how they trashed Bo I quit watching totally. And did not return until I read PR/Bo was coming back and that Peter liked the story and was excited. So TomSell won by default as the worst since there was no PR/Bo to keep me staying tuned even when I hated the story.

I despised Langan for many of the same reasons I despise a lot of writers from JER on.......too much reliance on gimmicks. Too black and white. Damsel in distress overkill. Maddona (heroines) vs whore (female villains) mentality with women.
Men too easily manipulated by the women who were villains. Plot drive vs character driven....and I like the latter. And the very obvious pushing of their own favorites......may as well have hung signs over them, "The HW loves me...." That seems to have plagued many shows IMO.

Agreed. Want to add a musing/possible memory(?) that maybe it was Jackson because that's what Steve used to call Jack a lot, besides Billy Jack, of course. I think I remember that, but, I may just be creating my own reality, too! :blulaugh:

I wonder if someone could help me... I've been watching Days since 1965 (I was in 4th grade) and have been on the board since this September (yeah, it took me a while to track you down--maybe I should be on the SPD).

A lot of you comment on the various writing teams and whether you hated them or hated them more (generalization), and I have no clue what major stories belonged to which writers or writing teams, so I kinda skim over those posts since I don't know what they're about. Could anyone please give me a relatively brief, maybe bullet form list of some of the major stories that the various writers brought to the show? :thanks:

The years I hated most was 2008-2015. So Higley, Whitesell and Tomlin might be the common denominator's in there for me

I don't know how I am going to deal with no Days until Monday! The show has been so good and there is such exciting stuff next week.
I forget if you made a guess before, but what are you hoping Abigail's baby will eventually be named??
Okay, this is hard because I had names picked out for a baby girl, lol.

I'll go with Thomas William.

I would also throw out Chad Jr., but the paternity of the baby hasn't been settled.

Me too! For some reason I was expecting a girl and had so many ideas for girl names for baby. I think my fave was Rose DiMera. Regardless of boy or girl all the names I had in mind would have the last name DiMera :)

Hey Bobette, for a general outline of who wrote what it is best to start with a chronological list of the Head Writers of Dool.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Days_of_Our_Lives_producers_and_writers

Next you should visit the the soapcentral Dool archive, which goes back to 1996. This is an excellent resource for catching up on the history of the show.
http://soapcentral.com/days/archives.php

Also visit our very own Matt's SOD recap thread which dates back to 1975
http://daytimeroyaltyonline.com/topic/8873236/1/

And another thread by Matt called the unsorasing thread gives a detailed account of stories going all the way back to the beginning as Matt imagined how the show would have occured without any sorasing (SOAP OPERA RAPID AGING SYNDROME)

Was it Higley or Tomsell that killed Nicole's second baby at 38 weeks in 2012? I think there was a writer switch around that time? It never made sense that it survived during the Daysaster, only to be killed months later.

Yes that was the reason, Adrienne and/or Justin called up Jack after the baby was born and told him they named him Jackson Kiriakis, and Jack was very proud, so it had to be that it was in his honor.

I know Jack's name isn't Jackson, but they could've called Sonny Jack for short, but they didn't, because of the distinction of characters. I did forget that Will was named after Billie. Now I really want Abby's son to be named after Lexie (Alex).

Tomsell. FOR SURE. Langan was just downright bad at times. Tomsell was offensive on a general basis. They were both shit. That said, Tom Langan did some good directing/producing in his time... And as I've learned, I'm not a fan of Tomlin as a producer either...

^ My face watching DAYS

Tomsell was WAY WAY worse than Langan...I remember hating Langan SOOOOO much during his tenue...but enduring TomSell....I would have taken those Langan DAYS back in a heartbeat....Langan was the worst at THAT point in the shows history....but who could have known that DAYS would fall even further into the toiler after he left.

All of my names were for girls as well. As long as the last name is DiMera, I'll take just about anything for a boy. 50th anniversary nostalgia has gotten me thinking about Thomas. No character named for Tom has been around Salem in a long time.

William makes the most sense but I think Jason was surprised about the name and I don't think he would be surprised about Wm.

While I don't really mind the idea of naming Abby's son after Lexie, it could get confusing if they bring Xander back, but especially if they bring back Justin's son (with Angelica), Alexander unless they either call him by his formal name or just Al.

Since I've been watching regularly (1998) my ranking would be: (I divided up some eras because there was a point where I tuned out)

01. SSM to Broderick (1998-1999) (This was my golden era and 1999 was my favorite year since I've been watching)
02. Brash and Cwickly 2002-2003)
03. Higriff (2015)
04. Langan (1999-2001)
05. JER 2 Part 1 (2003-2004)
06. Higley 1 (2003)
07. MarDar Part 1 (2011-Spring 2012)
08. JER 2 Part 2 (2005-2006) (the Stan story really made me tune out)
09. Hogan (2006-2008) I ranked it this low solely based on Santeen/EJ
10. Higley/Tomsell (2008-2011)
11. MarDar Part 2 (Summer 2012 to Fall 2012)
12. Tomsell 2 (2012-2015) (Ericole was basically the only thing I kind of enjoyed)

What are your thoughts on the Bo Ghost? I'm not a fan of parts of this s/l.. :(
Personally, I don't like this Bo-as-manifestation-of-Hope's-guilt. I would have rather not seen him after his body was taken away on the stretcher.

I think this extension of PR's appearances also shows that the story did not have to go the way it did - with all the wasted time on the torture and escape and now this imagined Bo. Beyond the story being dictated by what they wanted to air during the weeks of Nov sweeps, I truly believe now that it was also dictated by things going on behind the scenes, which is a real shame.

It really would have been nice if instead of Bo coming home to save Hope from Aiden, Hope had decided to postpone the wedding and go with Steve to save Bo. Maybe Aiden didn't have to turn the way he did. But that is just me writing a whole different ending for Bo (and Hope) ...

I couldn't agree more.
I think we should've seen Hope grieve the loss of Bo BEFORE seeking revenge. I also think Hope should have told Ciara.
I feel if PR wanted to still be on the show just be on the show not as a ghost. When Lexie died we only saw the Ghost once or twice with Theo. I think this is going to be on going for a bit. I really like your preferred ending. :)
There is a lot being done off camera beats that shouldn't be done off camera. I'm hanging in there because I love Kristian. I wish they would've handled Hope's guilt differently unless a mental breakdown is still coming??? I also agree there should've been less time of us seeing Bo being tortured and we should've seen more of Bo in Salem...these are just my thoughts. :)
