I consider the dream sequence day to be one day that DH can't sink the stories further down the toilet, so as annoying as it sounds, at least they are all dreams.

I am with Angie. The movie dreams could be fun, the last ones made me laugh, and the show needs some laughter. Too many tears for too long...

It looks like I am in the minority, but I don't mind the movie dreams. I got some entertainment out of it last time. It's only one episode!

My issue with it is a little more complicated. I think the idea sounds fun in theory. I hated it last time, though, and I hated the Film Noir, so I have no reason to believe I'll like it any better this time. But my biggest issue is what it represents. They did this nearly five years ago, and it was a major failure. Not even just quality-wise. It's one of the five lowest rated days of the last five years. So let's do it again! During sweeps! While we're negotiating a renewal! It's one of many thing the show is repeating right now from Dena's last tenure, and I just don't get why you'd repeat the unsuccessful parts. She had some semi-successful stories back then too (the baby switch, Parker's paternity) but it's the crappy ones we're revisiting. I'm expecting a Rafe double any day now (that actually might be welcome if it's Rafe from the Fall).

The list of characters involved also doesn't exactly inspire me.
Two of the segments being from Rafe and Ava's points of view indicates everything that's wrong with it. Not only are they her favorites but Ava is a psycho out to ruin a supercouple. She doesn't get a Valentine's Day focus.

This show has two classic supercouples in love on canvas, a young supercouple and maybe one they'd try to reunite (J&A). Hope as someone mentioned could have been reminiscing about Bo. Maybe focus on actual real romance instead of some alternate reality.

Bill Hayes had tweeted that Doug and Julie were going to be in the Valentine's Day episode. Wonder what they'll be doing while everyone else is dreaming? I don't think I want to see them involved in that.
I'd like to see them have a romantic date -- in an episode that doesn't include any crappy storylines.

Oh, yeah I don't agree. Bo dying is what did it. She doesn't seem to care too much about the Aiden thing anymore.
Eh, the focus on Bo, following Thanksgiving, doesn't eliminate that the psychological break Hope had was due to a rolling amount of traumatic events, not just one or the other. Hope was already slipping downhill prior to capping off the day with Bo's death.

Wait, I get it Rafe is Superman and Hope is Lois Lane and he's having to save her from Lex Luther...Andre...

Damn, I shot myself in the foot again, can someone take this gun from me...I'm going to have more holes in my feet then Higley has in her entire head.

It's worth noting that the last time Days did a movie episode, they dropped below 2 million.
Didn't someone say that episode aired on July 4th, though? I think that's one of those holidays that would traditionally bring in less viewers no matter what they aired.

Not saying that the content wasn't a factor, but the timing might have had something to do with it as well.

It probably did, but the last holiday Days had sent them over 3 million.

And none of that changes the fact that at the moment that's not the story they're writing.

This all makes sense, but meh it's just an episode that is a dream within a soap which is rather harmless.

Re: Doug & Julie and Valentine's Day. Part of me wonders if they're going to have a couple get married that day at the Martin House, non-dream *be afraid* lol Nah, maybe it's just D & J participating in everybody's dream.

I do think Ava's dream will probably turn into a nightmare in which S & K overcome.

It does make me chuckle that a daily thread was started with this clip earlier this week (the July 4, 2011 film clip). The "hair spray and open flames" warning, heh...

It's very rare that the daily threads are a message.

It's very rare.

But it happens. ;)

I think it's kind of like the spoiler said it will give point of view for characters about their love life. Rafe being in love with Hope and helping cover up a crime, Theresa being in love with Brady but being insecure and uncertain especially if he has already ran off to California, Nicole well it is supposed to be her wedding day so I would say she dreams about that. Ciara being torn between Chase and Theo, Abby dreaming of Chad and what it will be like to be married to him and be the lady of the Dimera mansion. Ava will probably be something really dilusional. As far as genres I'm not sure.

I'm not sure what they've been playing since the cover-up started besides stupidity, but the rollout to the murder? Not only did it IMO play to my eyes that the multiple traumas led to her increasingly disassociating to the point where she did what she did, but we even have Andre currently bringing up regularly "you don't think she could have been pushed beyond her breaking point after everything [her husband attempting to kill her, and the love of her life dying] and done this [thinking Stefano was behind the kidnapping]."

So it was a planned sign to the crowds? I thought it was just a coincidence.

Too bad they didn't remember that
They know it was a flop so why would they do it again? Unless this was the plan from day 1, let Dena have her way and watch the show go to hell so they could fire her. The ratings haven't really been cooperating though, other than the decline in December.
They couldn't fire her though.
And aren't they still paying her for not working? I can't see Corday ir Sony liking it. Nothing of it was planned. They probably clashed over some stuff.

The Chase/Andre thing is gonna be seriously creepy. If Thaao continues to play Andre the way he always does all he has to do is introduce himself and I'll be sufficiently and utterly creeped out.

I hope we are not losing the Bope house set. It's one of my favorites if not my favorite.
Oh, it's probably a set up for Hope and Ciara to be "homeless" and <cough! cough!> NEED a place to stay. . . cue Rafe even though there's room at cousin Jennifer's in her big house and a room at her dad's B and B.

I bet there will conveniently be no room at Jen's now that Abby is back living there, and with the baby.

Yeah, I was put off by it for that exact reason. God, why couldn't he have come back as Tony?

Because they needed an evil DiMera. And after all the trouble they had to redeem Tony's character by saying "It was Andre all along" from 1993-2007 it would've been idiotic to turn Tony evil now. That's why they made Andre Stefano's biological son, so he could be his successor. It's still Thaao so I don't care!! Andre/Tony same difference to me.
