That makes more sense and has more story than all three of them together at the same company bickering and it going nowhere. That has Higley written all over it.
You're exactly right. The hallmark of a Dena Higley story is that it goes nowhere. She sets it up, and then it's suddenly over. It reminds me of an interview she gave a few years ago where she complained that the producers and network kept asking about her stories, "And then what happens? And then what?" That really seemed to piss her off.

Yep.

And it's been said over the years that she frustrates the rest of the writing team in the same way. She comes up with an idea and relies on them to fill in the blanks. That adds to their already high workload and causes a bunch of issues and ends up burning them out quicker.

I think that is how the baby switch story in 2009 ended up working out. Dena said she came up with the idea and she likely did. However, that story no way unfolded like a Higley story did. It was classic Tomsell and it showed because it only seemed to take off after Tomsell joined the show. They and the writing team hashed it out and it worked. If it were Dena, it would've been a bunch of plot points with no development between them and over in 3 months.

It's really weird that they put Wally and Judi on contract just after Freddie left and then they put them off contract right before he returns.
Could just be a brief return and I still think the whole contract ordeal was to secure them for the 50th and Higley had a quad planned between Justin/Eve/Adrienne/Lucas but that got canned after she left.

Hey Jason, do you know if Bill Hayes was the first to play a dual-role?

If Chandler is back, I hope he is not playing Will. Let Will stay dead. I don't think that the guy in the pic is Chandler. He looks too tall to be CM.
ITA that guys seems way too tall and thin.

So thrilled that Sonny is back! Hoping it's not just short term. I need my Paulson to have another chance. Since this was spoiled already, will Jason be confirming? Calling Jason. ;)

I don't think it matters...they were used more when they were recurring anyways.

You know, it's funny that in the switch from the Josh show to the Dena show, she didn't end up using Wally and Judi more.

Not sure about the bickering part but BB story is definitely Griffith's.

Yes, he was. Did 6 episodes as Byron in 1979. And in a Soap Digest article, he said he asked to be billed as George Spelvin in the credits (I forget why).

Serial Scoop mentions this -- with a question mark in the title
"Is Freddie Smith Returning to 'Days of our Lives'?"
And then in the body of the article they say "It would seem so based on this photo".

I wonder why nobody is confirming the obvious.

I think by the time it became her show, their story had already been gutted to the point of no return. I also think she was far too focused on other things. She likes writing for them but even in 2010/2011 when she clearly had control she didn't write that much for them. Justin, in particular, got far more used back then when Tomsell had more control. Hell, Tomsell used Justin and Adrienne more in 2013 then Dena ever had in her stints.

By default, whoever confirms first would also have to say VI was lying. That's impolite to do, and I'm not impolite.

Well, that's not my issue at all. He shouldn't have lied. He shouldn't have responded at all. But, I have my own reasons for not confirming. Again, sometimes you do what you have to do.

Yeah, I think the story idea was but I don't think he got his way completely on it. There were little bits of Dena in the Fall kind of like there have been little bits of Josh the past two months. I feel as though he wanted it to be Nicole/Theresa vs Kate all along and everything we got in late August/September was to set that up but Dena likely liked the idea of them all three working together and bickering. She likes that kind of campy nonsense. The whole thing never went anywhere or got any kind of play. It only got more focus when Dena got more power, which is why I think it ended up becoming more what Dena would want than Josh. Yesterday, it felt like a reset with them all of a sudden letting Kate buy them out and walking away.

Back to Freddie, it's pretty clear no one is confirming because the news is not supposed to be out yet and nobody wants to step on anyone's toes. It seems like only certain sites/people are willing to confirm things well in advance nowadays, even when it's obvious.
