So I can't actually tell you the numbers, but DAYS stars were making obscene amounts of money. This was during the Hogan tenure. Everybody would be shocked at how much some of them were making. Corday was always very generous lol
Good for the actors who worked on Days at that time. :)
It had to be hard for them to adjust to pay cuts though. ;)

Not sure if her debut date had been previously confirmed. Anyway, it's February 22nd.

I'm confused. S/K weren't on yesterday, and they haven't been "adorable" since Christmas/NYE. Oh, and Days? I've had more than enough of their current story. End it. Please. End it.

I'm glad to see Joey will finally get a girl his age to interact with that isn't related to him. I do wish they'd find a way to connect Jade to an established character though. I think it just helps fans to accept the character better than someone with absolutely no ties to anyone besides the character they're coming on for.

Steve and Kayla are the last characters I want to see on screen at the moment because every scene they have involves Ava. I hope that when she's gone, they start interacting with Caroline, Hope, John again and maybe we will finally see Steve with Adrienne. I would like to see Kayla help Eric and Jennifer as well but I doubt it will happen. Kayla was also pretty close to Abby at some point and I can't remember the last time they had scenes together. Was she there when she came back from the cabin with the baby? I remember that Daniel and Fynn were there when Thomas got sick.

I think the most important thing is whether the girl can act or not. The ties to other characters won't help if she has no charisma and can't act. We had/have some examples... I wonder why they couldn't have Roxanne (Andrianna Manfredi) back. They asked the actress to submit for the Emmys, so they must know she is pretty good.

No, Kayla wasn't there for any of those scenes with Abby. They were at Hope's bachelorette party together, but they haven't had one-on-one scenes since the paternity test scenes or something related (i.e., TomSell).

I didn't mind Joey in scenes with his parents before Ava came back but I can't imagine him keeping my attention in scenes about him, the actor is just too weak to carry a story at this point. I hate that the show is wasting so much airtime on the teens. Claire is the only one I enjoy at this point because she doesn't interact too much with the other teens. Theo and Chase are good but Ciara ruins their scenes, I wish they would recast her. I don't feel like they really need Joey as part of the teen scene, since he's related to both of the girls, they should drop him to recurring and show him with his parents once in a while.

I do agree with you regarding Lastovic. I don't get the praise he gets at all. That's not saying that I don't like him as Joey. I do. I like all of the teens actually. But I do think Lastovic will improve over time. As most soap actors do when they start in the game young. I think the same will happen with Vivian Jovanni as well. Just go back and watch a clip from the 80s with Kristian Alfonso. God awful! She didn't get better until she returned in 1994.

I disagree about the amount of airtime the teens are getting. Compared to the Last Blast crew, the current teen set is rarely on. And one thing I will say is that at least the current teen set is being given scenes with established characters. I think people would be complaining much more if we were only seeing these teens interacting with each other. It'd be much worse. While I do appreciate the writers keeping the teens close with vet characters, I will say that I'm ready for them to start exploring their own stories away from the vets. I want to see more of a connection between Joey and Theo. I like them as friends. Same with Claire and Chase.

Except that Joey hasn't really had much to do with the teen scene since November. He was barely involved in Theo's bullying "story," and he spent about a minute at the Ciara's "kickback" before leaving. He had some scenes with Theo the other day, but it wasn't much.

I'm not excited by the prospect of Jade because I don't generally like teen "love" stories. And given that this is PS' first acting credit, I'm not expecting her to be that great.

I LOVE Rebecca Herbst. She is being written terribly over at GH. Not sure if this has been mentioned already but if she can't be Sarah Horton, why not bring her back as as Noelle Curtis, daughter of Liz and Neil? Maybe we could get pop up appearances by Gloria Loring as Liz. So much history with current vets on canvas! #WishfulThinking
Yes! I said this yesterday on Twitter - I've wanted Noelle on the canvas for SO long. She's historically connected to Salem, daughter of a VERY popular couple and yet not related to anyone. It's weird that they haven't had her pop up.
While I think it would be great to bring back some of these long-missed families, Days doesn't seem to have a good recent track record bringing on recasts of characters whose parent or parents aren't regulars.

I mean, look at Theresa. She's the daughter of a super couple with plenty of other ties to the canvas, and yet I think she's largely floundered without Shane and Kim. For whatever reason, I think Days struggles to write close family relationships outside of parent-child, which is such a shame.
Well, Theresa was brought on by a different, terrible regime - and we don't really know how it'd be handled by this regime.

Nick was done well until Tomsell ruined him. I get the fear, but I'd take the chance without Tomsell or Dena.

I was looking for some information and accidentally came accross the info about new characters that were created on Y&R by Griffith in 2012-2013 and :scared: :scared: it is horrible (did he introduce other major characters besides Tyler and Dylan?). Most of these characters were temporary.

I think, only two of the characters (and the kids) are still with the show - Dylan (because SB is FOJ) and Stitch:

Here's my assessment of the new characters brought on by this regime so far:

- Eddie: Underdeveloped character played by a great actor. I actually thought his introduction was fairly good, as he was fire with KDP. I also didn't mind that he was being introduced slowly because that's what we've been begging soaps to for years. However, since Paige's death and his reveal as Rafe and Gabi's father, the story has just totally stalled. I have hopes it'll pick up with Josh's story and the arrival of Mama Hernandez.

- Lani: A dud. A total dud. The actress has virtually no charisma, and she often comes across as a glorified extra. I thought she had some promise when she was introduced because I thought she was going to tie into Ben's time in FL, but nope! A missed opportunity, IMO.

- Fynn: Another dud. I don't know if I place all the blame on the writers for this one or not since I feel like they were "forced" to write for him as a contest winner.

- Deimos: In many respects, this character is in the same spot as Eddie. Great actor, but the writing is underdeveloped and weak. Since he showed up when Dena seemed to be in full control, though, I have some small hope he'll get better.

- Summer: Too soon to tell.

I feel like I'm missing someone, but maybe not.

Molly Burnett's a good example to look at, since she joined the show in June 2008, just before the changes in production started in Feb. 2009. She left after her 4 years was up in June 2012, but because the new taping schedule was in place, she kept airing until September 2012. So, based on that, she did exactly four years of taping, but aired for 4 years, 3 months.

In other words... she was there to torture us for 4 years, but we were actually tortured for 4 years and 3 months. Lucky us.

Could DAYS survive as a subscription show?

Would $5.00 per month be too high?
I'd pay way more than $5 to be honest.
I have always said; I love TV, I enjoy watching my shows, so if given the actual chance, I would actually pay money to watch it when it's supposed to air, in high quality and with the chance to re-watch it. Just give me the damn chance. And I doubt we're alone about that.

I disagree. We need people without ties to other Salemites. Paul didn't need to be made into John's son. Lani didn't need to be Abe's daughter. Days will be getting pretty incestuous if there are no new characters outside of the established families.

A "connection" doesn't have to mean making the character related to an already established character. There are other ways to connect new characters to established characters without making them family.
