I definitely think a smaller group of breakdown/script writers might be a really good thing.

Im still pretty sure Days is getting their renewal, Im barely worried about it. But just out of curiosity, if they were cancelled rather than renewed. How many months would they have to write an "ending" so to speak? Like to wrap up the show?
We have the differing "last" airdates, so it would be dependent on that. They have about 25 episodes left to tape if we base it on the September 2016 last airdate. If that were the case, pretty much all of the episodes would be fully written (full dialogue) by this week. If we go on the possible March 2017 last air date, then there'd be another 6 months left to write. But, hopefully none of that will matter and we'll get the official renewal announcement soon.
I've heard it's definitely a last tape date. And I believe they were already writing the time period where it would be ending a few weeks before this stop supposedly happened.

Ugh, I can't stand Becky Herbst. Praying she reaches a deal with GH!! Her coming to Days would be the one thing that will make me hope that Greg never returns.

Not that I'll be watching if Ari is gone but I still don't want her on Days.

It would be nice if the show took a few months break from shooting, but that has a lot of complications for the crew. They would take a significant income hit and would probably have to be formally laid off under California law, since they would not have a return date within a few weeks. The show would also risk losing those workers to other jobs, which also hurts stability, which is especially necessary on a program that shoots as quickly as Days. I'm not sure how the situation would work with the actors. They might have to be paid during any shooting hiatus, though I guess the show could use them in more episodes than they normally would after the return to fill their annual guarantees.

Seriously there only 4 soaps left!! The ratings have been improving and steady despite the crappy SL's courtesy of DH. I have my own issues with DAYS and so do other fans but I don't think anyone wants to see it end.

Funny I always though that if one of the soaps was to get cancelled first it would be GH cause it's a serious snoozefest over there and all the fan favorites/ veterans are leaving. NBC has never hesitated to renew DAYS as far as I remember they always got 2-3 year renewals. I wonder what's going on now!?
They have hesitated before. There has been at least twice where it was said the show was all but cancelled.

This is the longest it has taken for an announcement but I think between the 50th and the inconsistency Days has shown in ratings from 2014-2015, it's taking longer than usual because the show will need to make cuts. They just need to figure things out. I think both sides have agreed on a renewal, it's just the details and that is why there is no announcement.

Only 4 soaps left people!! 20 years from now it's likely that they'll all be gone. It's sad. It's a dying genre. But I have complete faith that we will get a renewal.

Sept 2016 would be the last "tape" date? That makes me feel better.I would hope they get time to give the show a proper send off. But again, Im pretty sure they got a renewal, so this is all a mute point lol I was just curious

I'm paranoid by nature lol I'm not gonna feel ok until an official confirmation is made. But I have a feeling everything will turn out fine!!

It feels like the show will continue, the unknown is how bad it will look if the budget is trimmed once again.

If we had to loose some characters who would you pick?

Tomorrow will be exacty 1 year after that the replacement of Tomlin/Whitesell by Griffith/Higley was announced.

Maybe that's why this spot is happening today.

I wouldn't be sad to lose Rafe, Brady and Theresa, I'm tired of these characters. What do they bring to the table, really?

If they cut some script/breakdown people, I wonder if it's a "last in, first out" situation or if larger salaries play a bigger role. If it's "last in, first out" for scriptwriters, Mark Higley and Danielle Paige would likely be let go. As far as the breakdown people, I have no idea.

Wow, the news just keeps getting worse and worse. RH could come crap all over DAYS, let's hope that doesn't happen. And then we aren't even assured of a renewal. I may not like the show right now and I will most likely quit watching mid April, but I still don't want it to be cancelled.

I REALLY hope RH doesn't go to DAYS. Just ick!
I love Rebecca Herbst! I would love for her to be free of that horrible Liz/Jason/Sam triangle and her annoying kid Jake on GH. I'm not sure who she would play though. She's a little old for Abby, Chelsea, or Stephanie.
She could play Maggie's daughter, Sarah Horton. I can see RH as a Horton. Then again, if she came on as a non-Horton and could be a love interest for Lucas, I might be even happier!
I agree with this.

Since writers stop writing, are actors still filming?

If the show is as cash strapped as I think it is, I don't think bringing in RH is a very good idea. I like her as an actress, but she probably doesn't come cheap, and the cast is already large enough as it is. On top of that, we have quite a few actresses in that age range. What the show really needs is a few more twenty something women.

Yes. The writers are farther ahead than the taping schedule.
